Crazed man splashes nurse with gasoline, tries to burn her to death after hospital loses his mom

An angry man tried to take revenge on a hospital by attempting to set a nurse and the entire building on fire with a bottle of gasoline.

Fortunately several onlookers reacted quickly and saved both the nurse and the building, reports Shanghaiist.

According to police, the incident occurred inside the surgery building of Baoji Central Hospital.

A nurse named Li Ming took the elevator to the third floor after fetching some medicine downstairs.

Suddenly, the other passenger inside the elevator dragged her to the ground by her hair and then splashed gasoline all over her body, threatening that he would burn down the hospital.

When the elevator arrived at the third floor, Li began screaming for help.

The man, surnamed Da, started beating her viciously on the head to make her stop.

Another nurse and some visiting relatives of hospitalised patients teamed up and pinned Da to the floor, taking the bottle of gasoline away from him.

While, frightened, Li did not seem to have sustained any serious injuries in the terrifying incident.

At the time of the incident there were 1,053 people inside the hospital, including doctors, patients and family members, NetEase reports.

Officials at the hospital told reporters that Da’s mother had been admitted into the hospital on February 14th for a problem with her brain.

Doctors advised her family to help watch over her, but on February 16th she slipped out and went missing.

On March 6th, police found her corpse by a riverside after she had slit her own wrists.
