Two varsity students mugged on campus
JOHOR BARU – Two students of a private university college were robbed at its car park in Kempas and then forced to withdraw money from an ATM at a nearby petrol station.
Three robbers, armed with a parang, surprised the students at about 9pm on Saturday. The robbers, entered the car and took all the students’ belongings.
The victims were then made to drive to an ATM at a petrol station.
After getting the money, the robbers who were all wearing caps, left the students in the car and fled into bushes at the nearby Pulai industrial area.
Johor Baru (North) acting OCPD Supt Beh Eng Lai said the students, aged 18 and 21, lost two cellphones, a car key, a power bank, three ATM cards and an undisclosed amount of cash.
He said the car park was dark and that the robbers probably came from a construction area within the campus because all the entrances and exits were guarded.
Supt Beh said police were checking the closed-circuit TV camera footage at the petrol station to track down the robbers.
