Batu Pahat: Sikap prihatin Tunku Laksamana Johor, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim menziarahi salah seorang anggota polis yang terkorban dalam tragedi berdarah di Lahad Datu pada 2013 lalu sentiasa dikenang keluarga anggota terbabit.
Malah, kenangan itu masih tersemat dalam ingatan Matrah Salim, 96, ibu kepada Allahyarham Sarjan Abdul Azis Sarikon.
Menurut Matrah, Allahyarham seorang yang cukup prihatin dengan rakyatnya dan sempat memujuknya reda dengan setiap ketentuan Allah.
Kunjungan putera raja itu ke kediamannya pada 2013 selepas mendengar kejadian menimpa anaknya yang terkorban ketika berjuang mempertahankan kedaulatan negara daripada pengganas Sulu di Lahad Datu, Sabah.
“Malah ketika kami bertemu di rumah, Tunku Abdul Jalil sempat memujuk saya supaya tabah dengan ketentuan Ilahi dan sempat memberitahu rakan karibnya turut terkorban dalam tragedi sama iaitu Koperal Mohd Azrul Tukiran.
“Tak sangka selepas beberapa tahun anak saya meninggal dunia, dia juga dipanggil Ilahi,” katanya ketika ditemui di Hospital Pakar Putra, di sini, semalam.

A letter to my son, Jalil :
My darling Lil,
I know the only reason you wanted to be in hospital was because you were in great pain but that you really wanted to be home : you’ve been in too many hospitals too many times. But Allah, in His Infinite wisdom, placed you there so that we, your family, would spend as much time as we could with you.
I have a thousand and one memories of you during your last days in this world.
I remember, once, you closed your eyes and tears flowed onto your cheeks, as you fought the pain, and I held your left hand and I wept, trying hard not to make any sounds. I thought you could not see me cry because your eyes were closed but you knew, and you put your right hand over mine and you patted it, as if you were saying, “Don’t cry, I am all right.”
I remember all the text messages you sent me. When I wrote that I was praying for you, you wrote back that you had prayed too, but that you had asked Allah to let you bear the burden of my worries.
When I looked at your grave, my heart ached with pain. I watched your father and your brothers fill it up with earth while Boo and Inah stood near me. I looked at your brothers and counted three sons. Boo was beside me. There are five of you. Where was my fifth son? And then I realised it was you who was missing. I had forgotten you were beneath the mounds of earth.
And I held up my hands and whispered “From You we come, and to You we return. I return to You, O Allah, my son.”
May you be with the righteous, my son.
Warkah buat anakku, Jalil :
Mama tahu, satu satunya sebab Lil pergi kehospital adalah kerana Lil berada menanggung kesakitan yang amat sangat. Lil sebenarnya hendak kekal tinggal di rumah : Lil telah terlalu terlalu kerap ke hospital.
Namun Allah S.W.T., Yang Maha Mengetahui, menempatkan Lil disana agar kami, keluarga Lil, dapat meluangkan sebanyak masa bersama Lil.
Mama menyimpan seribu satu kenangan tentang Lil ketika Lil menghabiskan hari hari terakhir Lil di dunia ini.
Mama terkenang satu ketika sewaktu Lil memejam mata dan air mata menitis di pipi Lil, semasa Lil cuba melawan kesakitan yang ditanggung. Mama memegang tangan kiri Lil dan menangis. Mama mencuba sedaya upaya untuk menahan sedu sedan Mama dari kedengaran. Mama fikir, Lil tidak nampak Mama menangis kerana mata Lil pejam. Tapi Lil tahu. Lil meletak tangan kanan Lil diatas tangan Mama dan menepuk nepuk dengan perlahan, seolah berkata “Jangan menangis, Lil tidak apa apa.”
Mama ingat semua mesej pesanan ringkas yang Lil hantar kepada Mama. Bila Mama mengatakan bahawa Mama telah berdoa untuk Lil, Lil membalas dengan mengatakan bahawa Lil juga telah berdoa dan memohon kepada Allah S.W.T. biarlah Lil yang menanggung semua kebimbangan Mama.
Bila mama melihat makam Lil, hati mama dipenuhi keperitan. Mama masih terbayangkan detik ketika Babah, abang dan adik Lil memenuhkan kubur dengan tanah sementara Boo dan Inah berdiri disisi Mama. Mama memandang kearah abang dan adik Lil, dan membilang hanya tiga anak lelaki. Boo disisi mama. Anak lelaki Mama lima orang. Dimana anak mama yang lagi seorang? Dan mama baru tersedar bahawa Lil yang tiada. Lil kini berada dibawah timbunan tanah itu.
Dan pada ketika itu, mama menadah kedua tangan mama dan berbisik, “Sesungguhnya dariMu kami datang, dan kepadaMu jua kami kembali. Daku memulangkan kepadaMu, Ya Allah, anakku.”
Moga Lil ditempatkan bersama mereka yang soleh.

SINGAPORE – A photo of the name tag the late Johor Prince Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim wore during his stint at the Singapore Zoo has been circulating on social media.
Tunku Jalil, who spent a year volunteering at the Singapore Zoo, died last Saturday (Dec 5) at the age of 25 after a year-long battle with liver cancer.
Known for his love for animals and interest in wildlife conservation, he studied zoology at a British university and also worked at the London Zoo for two years.
Tweets with a picture showing a hand holding up Tunku Jalil’s tag bearing the name “Jalil Ibrahim” surfaced following the news of his death.

The name tag photo had been first tweeted by user @syffl on April 1
On Facebook, a former Singapore Zoo colleague recalled her first meeting with Tunku Jalil in 2009.
“It was his first day as a volunteer with Education, and he was assigned to my booth. He introduced himself as ‘Jalil’. I saw his shoes, frowned, and asked him why he was wearing such nice shoes for volunteering at the zoo!” wrote Ms Fiza Aznor.
Ms Fiza revealed that she only found out much later that he was a prince, and remembered how he was “fun to talk to, funny, and down-to-earth”

Public gather at Istana Besar to pay last respects to Johor prince
JOHOR BARU: Members of the public gathered from very early outside the Istana Besar here to pay their last respects to the late Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim.
Retiree Syed Abdullah Yahya, 60, said he got ready after dawn prayers and left his house for the palace at 8am.
“I have always followed the royal family since Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s late father’s time.
“I feel saddened by Tunku Abdul Jalil’s passing and I will pray for the royal family to be patient in this time of sorrow,” he said when met outside the palace here on Sunday.

Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, fourth child of the Sultan of Johor, died at of liver cancer on Saturday evening at 7.11pm .
He was 25.
Members of the Johor royal family were at his bedside, The Star reported.
The fourth of six siblings, Tunku Jalil was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer late last year and had undergone a liver transplant in China.
He was the first member of the Johor royal household to serve in the police force after completing his police training in nine months.
Tunku Jalil studied zoology in the UK and had worked as a zoo keeper at the Singapore Zoo for about a year and at the London Zoo for two years.

Tunku Jalil’s funeral at Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum after zohor prayers
JOHOR BARU: The remains of Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim will be brought to the Istana Besar tonight and placed at a special room in that palace, Johor Council of Royal Court president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli said.
“The bathing and kafan ceremony will take place at about 7am tomorrow (Sunday) and the remains of Tunku Jalil will lay in state at the Istana Besar Siggahsana Room,” he told a press conference held at Bukit Timbalan, here.
Abdul Rahim said members of the public who wished to pay their last respects could do so between 9am and 11.30am tomorrow (Sunday) at the Istana Besar Siggahsana Room.
Tunku Jalil, the fourth of six children of Sultan Ibrahim dan Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris, will be laid to rest at the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum, here after zohor prayers. – Bernama

Sinar Harian reported that the prince passed away at about 7pm, quoting an Instagram post by Tunku Abdul Jalil’s aunt, the Pahang crown prince consort Tunku Azizah Maimunah Iskandariah.
