Mother of baby left in car lands in hot water
Despite conflicting reports of the incident and the fact that a report was not lodged, the police are investigating the case for negligence.
SHAH ALAM: Shah Alam police have decided to investigate the case of a mother who allegedly left her baby in a heated, unventilated car, said its chief ACP Azisman Alias.
Selangor police chief Abdul Samah Mat also confirmed that investigations were underway although no police report had been lodged against the mother.
“At the moment, there is a lot of hearsay and unverified information, so we need to further investigate the matter.
“The case will be investigated for child negligence under the Child Act 2001,” he was quoted as saying in Malay Mail Online.

FB user apologises to baby’s mother for pre-judging her
It turns out that the case of the baby locked in a hot car was not one of negligence but of the car’s auto-lock being accidentally activated.
SHAH ALAM: The Facebook user who uploaded a video of a frenzied crowd trying to rescue a baby left in a heated car has apologised for his hastiness in judging the parents of the baby whom he thought was negligent.
Tuan Nor Azlim who was at the scene of the rescue in Section 9 at Shah Alam yesterday, has now said the mother of the baby was among those in the crowd who was trying to rescue the child after the car’s auto lock was accidentally activated.
“Video sy itu dirakam semasa dorg sdg berusaha utk selamatkan bayi itu bersama ibu kpd bayi itu.”
“My video was recorded as the baby’s mother, along with a crowd of people were trying to save the baby.”
“..bukanlah bayi ditinggalkan dalam kereta tetapi kes auto lock dan orang ramai cuba membantu untuk keluarkan baby tersebut.”
“The baby was not left in the car but it was a case of (the car’s) auto lock (being activated) and the people were trying to help get the baby out.”

PETALING JAYA – Yet another baby was left in a stationary car in the scorching heat, despite numerous efforts to educate the public on the dangers on leaving their children unattended in a locked vehicle.
In a video that has gone viral on Facebook, the baby, estimated to be a few months old, was left alone in a locked Perodua Myvi. The car was double-parked, with its engine switched off.
Facebook user Tuan Nor Azlim, who witnessed the scene and shot the video, said the incident happened in front of a bank in Section 9, Shah Alam.
“The car was heavily-tinted but luckily, the baby was in the front seat, so I noticed the child immediately.
“To make matters worse, the parents were nowhere to be seen, and the child, when rescued, was calm but sweating profusely,” he said in his Facebook post.

Shah Alam OCPD ACP Aziz Man Alias said no police report was lodged on the incident. According to him, the baby’s mother arrived shortly after the rescue.
“The mother admitted that she had forgotten to leave the engine running because she was rushing,” he said.
