Bung Moktar sees red at Kok’s dress, knees

BN’s outspoken Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin today attempted to raise a standing order in Parliament to complain against the dressing of DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

Bung stood up abruptly during the sitting and asked deputy speaker Ismail Mohamed Said to reprimand Kok for her dress, which he said was “inappropriate”.

“The skirt goes until the knees, I can see the knees, how can this dress be allowed?” he asked.

This clearly angered Kok, who stood up and asked Bung to retract his remarks.

“The top is like a T-shirt, it’s all red, this is not how you dress in Parliament,” he said.

To this, Kok retorted that if Bung had a problem with her red top, he is equally guilty for wearing a yellow tie.

“Do you have no other work?” she asked Bung.

Ridhuan Tee, neither gentleman nor role model, says Teresa Kok

BY YISWAREE PALANSAMY

….

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has declared war on controversial lecturer Dr Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, saying that he is “neither a gentleman nor fit to be a role model for future military officers”.

She said while her criticism of Tee, an associate professor at the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM), was based on facts, the latter had instead resorted to rhetoric and personal attacks against her when he called her a “kiasu spinster” in his column published in yesterday’s Malay daily “Sinar Harian”.

Kok had posed a question in Parliament to Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri if Tee had indeed taught “ethnic cleansing” to his students at the university, weeks after she had alleged that Tee had plagiarised an article written by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia lecturer Dr Airil Yasreen Mohd Yassin.

“I read his series of articles before I made my speech during the policy budget debate in Parliament,” said Kok, adding that she had also produced evidence where Tee had apparently copied an article by Airil from his website named “Airil Sametok”.

She said it is regrettable to see that Tee, a university professor, “stooping so low”, in resorting to racist and gender-discriminatory remarks to attack her.

Let’s move on, Teresa Kok tells Khir Toyo after he apologises in court

BY ELIZABETH ZACHARIAH
December 10, 2013

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok said she is ready to move on after former Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo apologised to her in open court today over his blog posting on the azan issue five years ago.

“After five years, this is a relief to me. Let bygones be bygones. Let’s move on,” she told The Malaysian Insider.

The DAP lawmaker also withdrew her suit against Dr Khir after he apologised and agreed to pay an undisclosed amount in legal costs incurred by Kok.

In his apology, Dr Khir said: “I, Mohamad Khir Toyo, the first defendant in the suit, without admission to liability apologise to YB Teresa Kok Suh Sian for causing the publication on my blog http://www.drkhir.com on July 9, 2008 as stated in the statement of claim. I regret publishing the same and agree to pay costs.”

Judicial Commissioner Siti Khadijah Badjenid recorded his apology.

“I am tired of going in and out of court, to be honest. From the beginning all I ever wanted was an apology,” Kok revealed.

“And since he apologised, I am happy and don’t want to pursue the matter further,” Kok said, adding that this was the first time she was meeting Dr Khir after two years.
