PUTRAJAYA Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad launched an attack full of sexual innuendos against his former deputy Anwar Ibrahim while campaigning for the ruling BN coalition in Putrajaya last night.
He again hinted strongly that the prime minister aspirant is not suited for the top job and had been sacked from Umno in 1998 because of his alleged homosexual tendencies.
Mahathir recounted how Anwar forced his way to the top echelons Umno’s ranks and then instigated his supporters within the party to accuse him of corruption and cronyism in his impatience to become prime minister.
“But it is okay, if he wants the job so badly, take it. I’m not going to be prime minister forever anyway. But we found that besides aspiring to become the prime minister, he has other intentions that we could not accept.
“This ‘dirty’ work stinks, how could one do such thing? So people like this cannot be prime minister,” he said.
He then paused for a moment, as the 1,000-strong enthusiastic audience shouted, “Cannot”!
Mahathir continued, “The prime minister’s office is huge and there are government officers coming in, and some of them are young,” he said, and the crowd cheered.
“I fear what would happen to the officers if he becomes the prime minister. Even his driver is not safe. So are those in the office, some of them are cute. Not only women who are cute, there are cute men too.
“If he becomes the prime minister, I do not know what would happen. All gone. So I asked my friends in Umno what to do with him, and they said, ‘Sack’,” he told the audience.
Thousands flocks to Putrajaya to her Husam Musa and Ustaz Azhar Idrus.

The shocking assassination of Customs Department deputy director-general (operations) Shaharuddin Ibrahim became a key issue at a political ceramah in Putrajaya last night with PAS candidate Husam Musa alleging the crime rate in the nation’s administrative capital is among the highest in the nation.
Speaking to a large crowd of more than 6,000 people (right) who had braved light rain for the ceramah, Husam said if the culprits responsible are not caught, people would see the crime as a manifestation of their fears over safety and that the escalation of crime cases “is real”.
……….
“If such a shocking incident can happen in the administrative capital, what more anywhere else? I believe that if our police officers are efficient, the murderers could be caught on the same day.
The PAS vice-president (left) said the crime ratio in Putrajaya, with a population of 70,000, is very high as there were more than 400 cases recorded last year including 10 rape cases, eight molest cases and numerous break-ins involving properties and cars.Ratio wise, he said Putrajaya has a crime rate of 1:195 residents where else the national average is 1:350 people for a crime.

……….
Husam, the Pas spiritual leader’s protege, is contesting in the Putrajaya parliamentary seat in a major statement of intent. He was mobbed as he left the mosque, also known as Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque. Located in Precinct 3, opposite the Palace of Justice, it is the second major mosque in Putrajaya after the Putra Mosque.

Many civil servants work and reside in Putrajaya; so the scenes above and below are telling, though some of the crowd may have come from neighbouring towns in Selangor.
