Police last night detained PKR-linked blogger ‘Milo Suam’ while at a shopping mall in Shah Alam, over a posting on his blog regarding early voting.
The blogger was then brought to the PKR headquarters in Tropicana at about 10:30pm where the police took possession of some items.
“I’m not certain, but I understand he is being probed under the Official Secrets Act,” said PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim when asked today.
“I urge the Election Commission (EC), don’t shoot the messenger,” he said during a press conference at PKR headquarters.
According to him, the blogger is to be remanded for three days and will not be able to operate until after the elections.
Previously, it was reported that the blogger was being investigated for public mischief and spreading false information.
Commercial CID director Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said its Integrated Media Action Plan unit is investigating a blog that claimed policemen had voted earlier than scheduled.

EC shoots down claim that advance voting has started
PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) has rebutted claims on social media that advance voting had started, pointing out that it will be carried out on April 30 for servicemen and police officers.
EC secretary Datuk Kamaruddin Baria said it is also untrue that they have been unable to manage the distribution of ballots for advance voting as claimed by a Facebook post that carried a picture of a purported ballot paper.
“The EC denies that advance voting has been carried out for those who qualify as advance voting will only be done on April 30.
“We also deny that the photo on social media was from the EC,” he said while reading out a prepared statement during a press conference here.
A post featuring a picture of a ballot paper went viral on social media on Tuesday, claiming that advance voting had started and that the EC had failed to manage it properly.
To a question, Kamaruddin said the EC could not confirm or deny the authenticity of the ballot paper in the picture but pointed out that it had already sent out postal votes to those who qualify within the country on Tuesday.

DID IT HAPPEN OR NOT?
It is said that there was an annoucement yesterday on the official PDRM website which stated that they had received the postal ballot papers yesterday instead of today.
However the police denied that they were given advance postal ballots to vote a day earlier as claimed by PKR and some blogs.
Speaking at a press conference today, Bukit Aman public relations officer ACP Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the police would initiate action against those who spread such rumours under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which is punishable with a year’s jail sentence or a RM5,000 fine or both.

PKR: Why cops given early postal ballots?
Wan Azizah demands an explanation from the EC on why ballot papers were issued to the police a day earlier than other postal voters.
PETALING JAYA: PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today demanded the Election Commission (EC) to explain why ballot papers were given to police postal voters a day earlier than to other postal voters.
Wan Azizah, who is the wife of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, was referring to an annoucement yesterday on the official PDRM website which stated that they had received the postal ballot papers yesterday instead of today.
“They must explain to us… the parties and the public at large. Ample notice must be given if there is a change (in the dates announced previously),” she told a press conference today here.
“What is so special that they have to give them (the police) a day earlier?” she asked.
