Health officer triggers Covid-19 cluster after family gathering

KOTA KINABALU: A health officer who was confirmed positive triggered a Covid-19 cluster of 34 cases after he held a family get-together at his family home in Beaufort district.
It was one of the two new Covid-19 clusters in the district that were traced back to community events where those in attendance failed to comply with SOPs, state local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said.
He said the 31-year-old health officer was confirmed positive on Oct 7 but went ahead and held the family get-together at his family home in Kampung Bawan.

“The Kampung Bawan cluster is a workplace cluster involving a government clinic with 34 infections, the majority being the index case’s family members and work colleagues, while the Kampung Batu 66 cluster is a community cluster with 29 cases of family members and people who attended the wake,” Masidi said in a statement tonight.
