A fire in Tuas on Feb. 24 saw eight individuals conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH)’s Burn Centre with serious burn injuries.

In a post on Facebook, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) wrote that it responded to the fire at 32E Tuas Ave 11, at around 11:25am.

Patients who suffer smoke inhalation or serious burn injuries but are in stable condition, are conveyed to SGH’s specialised Burn Centre instead of the nearest hospital.

The fire involved an industrial mixer, and was extinguished with two water jets.

SINGAPORE — Eight people were taken to hospital with burn injuries after a fire broke out at an industrial unit in Tuas on Wednesday (Feb 24).The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that they were alerted at 11.25am to a fire at No 32E Tuas Avenue 11.

Upon arrival, the SCDF found that a unit in an industrial building was smoke-logged. Firefighters then entered the unit to locate the fire.The fire involved an industrial mixer and was extinguished with two water jets, the SCDF said.

An eyewitness at the scene, who wanted to be known only as Mr Tan, told TODAY that he was inside his office when he heard two or three very loud “boom” sounds.He felt the office shake and, after opening the window, saw “very high” smoke coming out of the industrial building.

Eight people were taken to Singapore General Hospital suffering from burn injuries. About 65 people from neighbouring units self-evacuated before the SCDF arrived.The cause of the fire is under investigation.
