IPOH: A businessman pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today to 10 counts of molesting three women in July.
The accused, Md Hamdan Ahmad, 65, a Datuk, pleaded not guilty after all 10 of the charges were read out in the presence of Magistrate Noor Azreen Mohd Darus.
According to the charges, Hamdan is accused of using criminal force with the intent of outraging the modesty of three women aged 20 at his office on Jalan Dr Nazrin Shah, Ipoh.
He was charged with committing the offence between 9.45am and 5.50pm on July 29. All 10 charges were made under Section 354 of the Penal Code under which the accused can be sentenced to imprisonment of up to 10 years or fine, or caning.
The magistrate set Jan 16 for a re-mention of the case and allowed bail of RM25,000 in two sureties, and directed the accused not to harass the victims and to surrender his passport to the court.
Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutors D Sunit Kaur Jessyz, Nurul Qistina Qamaru Abrar and Mohamad Nazreen Zabarudin, while the accused was represented by counsel Khairilazwar Khalil.
In July this year, the media reported that a businessman had allegedly molested three women during a job interview.

Yesterday, 30 July, a company manager in Perak, believed to be a “Datuk”, was arrested after three women lodged a report against him for outraging their modesty
Police arrested the man at his home in Rapat Setia, Ipoh, Perak at about 12.45am.
According to Ipoh police deputy chief Superintendent Mazuki Mat, the alleged incidents took place at his office in Perak State Development Corporation Complex at Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah on Monday, 29 July, Malay Mail reported.
The victims claimed the Datuk had molested them when they attended his office for a company clerk job interview
“One of the victims claimed that the man had held her hands, shoulders and tried to kiss her cheek.
“Another said the man hugged her from behind until she could feel his penis rubbing against her. He was also alleged to have kissed her nape, forehead and wrist,” Mazuki said as quoted by The Star Online.
Supt Mazuki also added that the suspect did not talk about any work-related matter during the interviews, but had taken photographs of the victims instead.
The three women attended the interviews separately at 7.45am, 12.30pm, and 4.30pm.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for intent to outrage modesty
The suspect has since been released on bail after the police had taken down his statement.
Businessman under probe over molest allegations

IPOH: The police are investigating a Datuk for allegedly molesting three women during job interviews at his office in Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah here.
The 65-year-old was arrested yesterday and have had his statement recorded, said Ipoh police deputy chief Supt Mazuki Mat.
“He has been given police bail. We will investigate the matter under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty,” he said in a statement yesterday.
It is learned that the businessman was arrested at his home in Rapat Setia at 12.45am before being brought to the police station.
The three women, all aged 20, alleged that the businessman had acted inappropriately towards them, said Supt Mazuki.
“One of the victims claimed that the businessman had held her hands, shoulders and tried to kiss her cheek.
“Another said the businessman hugged her from behind until she could feel his penis rubbing against her. He was also alleged to have held her thigh, kissed her nape, forehead and wrist,” he added.
“During the interviews, the businessman also did not ask questions related to the job and only spoke about his personal matters.
“He was also alleged to have taken pictures of the girls during the interviews,” Supt Mazuki said.
