Cops seeking ‘reporter’ behind highway sex article
GEORGE TOWN: The police are trying to track down a “reporter” from an online portal who wrote a story about a couple having sex by the side of a highway in Changkat Kledang, Jawi near here.
Penang police chief Comm Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said police investigations have revealed that the portal that ran the story, despite being named after the state, is not based in Malaysia.
“We discovered that the registered owner of the portal is based in Azerbaijan and the IP (Internet Protocol) address is in Pennsylvania, the United States.
“However, police are not dismissing the possibility that the person who wrote the report could be in Malaysia as most of the articles in the portal are about Penang,” he told reporters at the state police headquarters in Penang Road on Tuesday.
He said police are trying to trace the reporter to find out the authenticity of the report as the writer alleged that he approached the couple for confirmation in Jelutong.
“We will need to investigate the matter first. If the news is true, action will be taken on the couple for indecency.

Picture of sex on Penang highway fake, say police
GEORGE TOWN: Police say a picture showing a couple engaged in sex beside a highway supposedly taken in Changkat Kledang in Jawi, Penang is fake.
Many netizens had reposted the picture which appeared in a report in http://www.penangpost.com without verification.
South Seberang Prai OCPD Supt Shafee Abdul Samad, who was shown the picture in a text message on Sunday, said the picture was not taken in Penang.
“No such thing. We don’t have a green fence,” he said referring to the green fence running along the middle of the highway shown in the picture which is not a feature of Malaysian highways.
The report claimed that the incident took place in Changkat Kledang in Jawi. This area is, however, a flat coastal area, whereas the picture shows an elevated highway crossing a gorge.
The picture shows a nude girl close to a metal sign riveted to a chain-link fence.
On digitally enhancing the picture, it was found that the sign contained red Chinese characters, possibly warning pedestrians not to step onto the highway, but the photo resolution is too low to read the Chinese writing.
No information on who owns the portal is supplied in the website.
