Prasarana collars alleged LRT sexual harasser
The man allegedly harassed a 21-year-old student on the LRT by whispering vulgar words, report says.

PETALING JAYA: A 37-year-old man suspected of sexually harassing a girl on the LRT has been nabbed following quick action by the Prasarana auxiliary police.
According to the New Straits Times (NST), the girl, Nur Dini Van Haeren, had boarded the train bound for Kuala Lumpur at the Kelana Jaya station on March 13. Upon entering the compartment, the 21-year-old student noticed the man looking at her with a “naughty” expression on his face, the report said.
Based on a Facebook post Nur Dini had made following the incident, the man also whispered vulgar words towards her, NST said.
In the post, Nur Dini reportedly voiced frustration, saying she could have done more to protect herself by alerting other passengers to her situation.
But she was given a helping hand by Prasarana, which responded to her Facebook messages and established immediate email contact with her and her family.

The man was apprehended at the Taman Jaya LRT station yesterday, the report said.

PETALING JAYA: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) yesterday apprehended a pervert who had harassed a female passenger on board the Kelana Jaya LRT Line, and surrendered him to the police.
Prasarana subsidiary Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said the group’s auxiliary police made the arrest at the Taman Jaya LRT station following the incident that took place on March 13.
.
The victim, a 21-year-old student of a private university, Nur Dini Van Haeren, had on Monday posted on her Facebook of the encounter she had with the suspect upon boarding the train that morning.
Nur Dini had claimed that the man, 37, gave her “naughty” looks, before whispering vulgarities in her ear.
She then asked the suspect what his problem was, to which he responded with a smile. Nur Dini then took a couple of pictures of the suspect before he alighted a couple of stations later.
Zohari said Prasarana had approached her soon after the post went viral to obtain more details of the incident, before securing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the suspect.
He said the suspect was handed over to the police upon being positively identified by Nur Dini yesterday.
