New ILI cases detected in Teluk Intan
IPOH, March 16 — Five new cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) have been detected at the Vocational College (Agriculture) in Teluk Intan, according to a statement from the Perak Health Department issued today.
It said that from the five throat swabs taken from the college, three were found to be positive of influenza A (H3), two samples were positive of influenza B while the other was negative.
Up to yesterday, the ILI outbreak involved students of Sekolah Menengah (SM) Raja Perempuan Taayah (230) in Ipoh, SM Abdul Rahman Talib in Teluk Intan (87), Sekolah Kebangsaan Klebang Jaya (3), Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (115), Sekolah Izzudin Shah, Ipoh (25), Vocational College in Slim River (13), Sekolah Menengah Agama (SMA) Sultan Azlan Shah in Bota (13) and SMA Darul Ridzuan in Tapah (26).
Out of the number, 245 students have been isolated in their respective school hostels while three others warded in hospital had been discharged.

PUTRAJAYA: The Influenza-like Illness (ILI) cases in Perak schools stand at 512 today – with 47 new cases reported.
The Education Ministry of Education (MOE) has since been placed on high alert, said its minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

At press time, Sekolah Menengah Raja Perempuan Taayah in Ipoh has recorded the highest number of cases, with 230 of its students infected by ILI.
Next in line is Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR) Ipoh, with 115 cases.

IPOH: Another 27 students from three schools here were confined to their dormitory after displaying symptoms of an influenza-like illness, making it a total of 465 students in the state currently infected by the outbreak.
Perak Health Department in a statement today said a total of 25 new cases were reported from Sekolah Izzudin Shah while each from Sekolah Menengah Raja Perempuan Taayah and Sekolah Menengah Abdul Rahman Talib.
“The number is a slight increase from 438 students (on Sunday). So far, four samples have tested positive for Influenza A (H3) and nine for Influenza B,” said the statement.
