IS THIS SANJEEVAN’S LATEST ADVENTURE?

POLIS “DITANGKAP” MENGAWASI RUMAH SAYA PART 1

Apa lagi mereka mahu?

SUHAKAM SPEAKS ON THE “HARASSMENT” R S SANJEEVAN

Whistleblower claims police is spying on him

In an unrelated development, Suaram, representing Mywatch chairperson Sanjeevan Ramakrishnan, handed over a separate memorandum to Suhakam regarding alleged espionage on Sanjeevan by the Royal Malaysian Police.

Sanjeevan told Suhakam commissioner Lok that he had approached two men parked in a blue Toyota Wish outside his house after he noticed that they had been following him for two consecutive days.

The whistleblower said that the two men told him and the security guard in his housing area that they were narcotics officers. However, he claims that his sources told him the men are not who they claim to be.

“I’ve been attacked, accused and shot. I’ve managed to survive … but what they’re trying to do (now) is beyond the limit.

“He shot me, I didn’t die. He charged me, he couldn’t send me to prison. So, are you trying to abduct me now? I want the IGP to answer to this.”

Sanjeevan has been arrested multiple times in the past over extortion and defamation charges, as well as for allegedly falsifying documents, cheating, and offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.

The whistleblower also appeared in the news in 2013 after surviving a gunshot by unknown assailants.

Previously, Sanjeevan had been vocal about corruption in the police force as well as what he called their bullying tactics towards him for being a whistleblower.

Sanjeevan freed from cheating charge

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan was today acquitted of a cheating charge after the complainant decided against giving evidence in court.

Company director S Sivam was barely five minutes on the witness stand when he informed magistrate Umzarul An-Nur Umar that he was not going to give evidence against the accused.

Lawyer Gobind Singh Deo informed the magistrate that his client was entitled to an acquittal due to Sivam’s refusal to testify.

Umzarul then dismissed the case and gave Sanjeevan an outright acquittal.

Sanjeevan was charged with cheating Sivam, 53, into appointing him as a business consultant at Solid Transactions Sdn Bhd when he dishonestly induced the victim into believing that he held law and business degrees from Northumbria University and Camden University.

This allegedly led Sivam to hand over RM95,000 to Sanjeevan.

The offence was allegedly committed at Cheras Leisure Mall, Taman Segar, Cheras, here on June 1, 2013.

Last year, Sanjeevan, 32, claimed trial to the charge.

Sanjeevan said he was relieved with the outcome today.

“I am happy that I am free from the charge. Justice has once again been served,” he said.

Crime watchdog chief acquitted of insulting ex-IGP

The Petaling Jaya Sessions Court today acquitted Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan on a charge of insulting former inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar (photo below).

Sanjeevan’s lawyer S Prakash said Sessions Court judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar acquited his client of the charge after the prosecution failed to prove its case against him.

“They (the prosecution) claimed Sanjeevan posted ‘Khalid, are you an idiot?’ on Facebook but never proved that this Facebook belonged to Sanjeevan.

“By virtue of that, the court acquitted him,” Prakash told Malaysiakini.

Sanjeevan, meanwhile, noted how various “unusual charges” have been mounted against him to silence him.”But finally, I am happy that the judiciary did serve me justice,” he said.

Last October, Sanjeevan was charged with making insulting remarks on his Facebook account against Khalid.

He was charged with knowingly using a network service application through his Facebook site at https://www.facebook.com/MalaysianCrimeWatchMyWatch to create and initiate the transmission of insulting remarks at Khalid with “intent to annoy another person’s feelings”.

Cops withdraw case, Sanjeevan acquitted of extortion charge

The Kajang Magistrate’s Court today acquitted Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan of an extortion charge.

This is after the Putrajaya police headquarters withdrew its case due to the complainant not wanting to pursue the matter.

Utusan Online quoted DPP Megat Mahathir Megat Afendi as stating that he had applied for a discharge not amounting to an acquittal.

However, Sanjeevan’s lawyer S Preakas applied for an acquittal.

Following this, Magistrate Norafidah Idris recorded the acquittal of the charge.

Sanjeevan was accused of causing fear in businessman Ong Lam Chin, resulting in the latter allegedly giving the My Watch chairperson RM20,000 in protection money.

TEMERLOH: Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today on a charge for blackmail three years ago.

Sanjeevan, 32, was charged with blackmailing businessman Chan Leong Kwan, 40, for RM1,500 or the victim would not be able to conduct his business.

The offence allegedly took place at 9.45 pm on July 1 2013 at premises number 25-27-29 on the first floor of Jalan Dagangan 8, Triang Business Centre in Bera, near here.

The victim made a police report on Aug 16, 2013.

The prosecution was conducted by prosecution officer Inspector K. Kishornath under Section 384 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, or fine, or whipping upon conviction.

Counsel Ravin Jay, who represented the accused, appealed for the bail of RM7,000 proposed by the prosecution to be reduced as it was considered too high.

“The bail is only to secure the attendance of the accused for trial. I assured the accused will not abscond as he has two more charges in Seremban courts,” he said.

Magistrate Najwa Hashim set bail at RM3,000 in one surety and fixed Sept 7 as remention for case management.

KL High Court judge says warrant for MyWatch chief’s detention did not adhere to procedures.

….

PETALING JAYA: The remand for Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman R Sanjeevan under the Prevention of Crime Act 1954 (Poca) has been declared null and void.

According to news portal Malaysiakini, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has granted Sanjeevan’s habeas corpus application against his remand.

High Court judge, Mohamad Shariff Abu Samah, ruled that the warrant for Sanjeevan’s detention at the police remand centre (PRC) in Jalan Ipoh was defective as procedures for his detention were not adhered to precisely.

“As there are doubts regarding the order giving rise to several interpretations, the court allows the (habeas corpus) application and orders that Sanjeevan be released from the PRC with immediate effect,” Shariff was quoted as saying.

Outside court, Sanjeevan’s lead counsel, Gobind Singh Deo, said due to outstanding charges in Seremban, his client would be produced at the courts there for bail application.

Sanjeevan said he was handcuffed, blindfolded and beaten.

Kl Police Chief, Amar Singh,  “If he can identify the person, we will take action.”

Sanjeevan claims he was tortured in police detention

Koh Jun Lin

The Malaysian Crime Watch Taskforce (MyWatch) chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan has claimed that he was beaten while being remanded under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (Poca).

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh told Malaysiakini today that the police are not aware of the allegations, but would investigate if Sanjeevan lodges a police report.

According to Sanjeevan’s lead counsel Gobind Singh Deo, Sanjeevan was slapped with two charges in separate courts in Seremban earlier today, where the allegations of torture were raised during proceedings.

“He (Sanjeevan) said he was handcuffed, blindfolded and beaten. In addition, he was not provided with medicine or food all of today. He also complained that his requests for medical treatment to treat a problem of internal bleeding was ignored.

“I thereafter applied for an order directing the police to take him for a medical check-up and that he be allowed to make a police report over his complaint today itself […]

“Sessions judge Fatiyah Idris then asked Sanjeevan to confirm this and he did so in open court. She then allowed both applications and directed the investigating officer to do the needful,” he said in statement today.

The alleged torture supposedly took place in a police remand centre in Kuala Lumpur, where Sanjeevan is being held for 21 days under Section 4(1)(a) of Poca until the end of the month.

The remand order was made by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court on July 11.

When contacted, city police chief Amar told Malaysiakini that the police are not aware of the allegations because the complaint has yet to be lodged.

“If he says he is assaulted, lodge a report and we will investigate. If he can identify the person, we will take action,” he added.

Sanjeevan Di Tahan Di Bawah PoCA : Apa Yang Cuba Disembunyikan?

Habeas corpus filed to release Sanjeevan

July 15, 2016

Lawyer Gobind Singh also files a certificate of urgency to have the hearing heard soon, before the 21-day detention under Poca ends on July 31.

KUALA LUMPUR: After failing to get the High Court to review his 21-day detention under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca), a habeas corpus application was filed to release MyWatch chairman R Sanjeevan from detention.

His lawyer, Gobind Singh, said they filed the application on Friday at the High Court registry.

“We asked the High Court to review the magistrate’s decision on Monday that granted the police 21 days’ remand (on Wednesday),” he said after filing the habeas corpus application.

“However, the court replied yesterday that it found no reason to review the magistrate’s order.”

The 21-day Poca detention ends on July 31.

Gobind said he has also filed a certificate of emergency to have the hearing heard soon, before the remand ends.

“Otherwise, the habeas corpus application will be academic,” he said.

Sanjeevan’s wife Dr K Kastoori, in her affidavit for the habeas corpus application, charged that her husband’s detention was unconstitutional.

“My husband was detained under the 2014 amended Section 4(1)(a) of Poca.”

The amendment was done in accordance to Article 149 (Federal Constitution), she noted.

“It allows Parliament to make laws to prevent actions that are prejudicial to public order.”

However, she added, it was not in line with Article 151 when the amendments were passed.

“An advisory board should be formed to consider any representations made by him.”

Gobind Singh to lead Sanjeevan’s defence team

July 11, 2016

He will also look into the possibility of a civil suit against Sanjeevan’s detention under Poca.

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition lawmaker-lawyer Gobind Singh Deo will now lead the defence team for anti-crime watchdog MyWatch Chairman R Sri Sanjeevan.

Speaking to FMT, Gobind said Sanjeevan himself had requested for his services in challenging the latter’s arrest under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca).

“Instructions were given to me to challenge this detention by Sanjeevan when I met him in court on Saturday morning.

“Those instructions were confirmed again today through S Preakas, who represented him this morning. He will assist me in the case.”

According to the Puchong lawmaker, there are various options available to Sanjeevan at this point, including an application for a writ of habeas corpus to challenge his 21 days’ of detention.

“We are looking into that for now although we will not rule out the possibility of a civil suit perhaps at a later stage.

“In the application, we will look at various angles, which include among others, challenging the validity of the detention under Poca and aspects of what in law is known as mala fide (undertaken in bad faith) and abuse of process.

“I will not go into that for now as the application has yet to be filed and out of deference to the court.”

Gobind added that he hoped to file an application to this effect by Wednesday.

Sanjeevan detained under Poca

Lawyer confirms arrest of MyWatch chairman this evening under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) 1959.

PETALING JAYA: MyWatch chairman R Sanjeevan, 32, has been detained under the Prevention of Crime Act (Poca) 1959, barely a month after he claimed that authorities would nab him under the said law.

His lawyer, S Prakash confirmed the arrest, made at 4:30pm today, which he described as “unjustified.”

“Nevertheless, we will go through the procedures under Poca,” he told FMT.

The police are expected to make an application for remand tomorrow at the Jalan Duta High court.

Under Poca, suspected criminals can be detained without trial for up to two years.

Sanjeevan’s arrest today marks the seventh time he has been detained by police in a span of two weeks for various offences.

Last month, Sanjeevan claimed he had been warned by an unknown man that he could be detained by the authorities over his exposé of a spa which he alleged was doubling as a vice den near the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

Arrested, released, rearrested: Sanjeevan detained for 6th time

Adrian Wong

Arrested, released, rearrested – Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan has been caught in this cycle the past two weeks.

As what happened yesterday, shortly after a Seremban magistrate rejected the application to remand Sanjeevan, the waiting Kajang police rearrested him again this morning, for the sixth time.

Yesterday, Sanjeevan was rearrested after the police failed to obtain a remand order against him from a Seremban magistrate.

“You can see, this police report (that led to the Kajang arrest) was just lodged yesterday, just to make sure that he would be rearrested.

“They are bringing him to Kajang. If the magistrate rejects their remand tomorrow, there will definitely be another rearrest.

“It looks like it is all planned,” Sanjeevan’s lawyer Preakas Sampunathan told Malaysiakini when contacted today.

Man who snitched on Sanjeevan protected as a witness

June 24, 2016

IGP says the illegal gambling centre operator is a ‘cooperative informant’, and had gone through the proper channel in passing information to the police.

KUALA LUMPUR: The illegal gambling operator who claimed he was extorted by MyWatch Chairman R Sri Sanjeevan, will be protected under the Witness Protection Act 2009.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said this was because the 38-year-old man had gone through the “proper channel” in passing the information he had.

“For now, we are not planning to take any action against him, as he is a cooperative informant. So he has been given protection,” he told a press conference here today.

Sanjeevan, who chaired the anti-crime watchdog, was arrested on Wednesday following a complaint by the illegal gambling business owner, who claimed he had received a call from the former asking for RM25,000 in “protection” money on Monday.

Sanjeevan had allegedly threatened to expose the man’s business dealings on Facebook, to the media, or the police, if he failed to pay the protection money. The police then laid a “trap” following a complaint.

According to Khalid, three more individuals have come forward to say they too were extorted by Sanjeevan.

“On top of that, several reports were already lodged before he (Sanjeevan) was arrested.”

Sanjeevan files police report over khalwat allegations

PETALING JAYA: MyWatch chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan has lodged a police report denying that he was caught with a police inspector for khalwat (close proximity) during a raid at a luxury hotel in Seremban on June 10.

“I read a tweet from @mamifoo on June 20 saying that I had been caught for khalwat with a police inspector. I wish to stress that the tweet is a lie and I have never been caught for the offence as stated,” said Sanjeevan in the police report made on Monday.

In his report made at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station, Sanjeevan wanted police to investigate the person who made the tweet for spreading lies about him.

“I make this report because I believe the person who made the claim is trying to make an allegation to bring down my good name and my family,” said Sanjeevan.

Sanjeevan and the inspector, who was reportedly transferred, have not been arrested nor had anything seized from them.

According to a report filed by Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS), the raiding team comprising its officers and the Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department went to two connecting rooms at the hotel at 1.30am.

After identifying themselves, the team waited for 10 minutes before the occupant of Room 1002, who was the inspector attached to the Jempol station, opened the door.

They found the officer fully dressed and wearing a headscarf, while a brassiere was left on a chair, the report said.

The team then went to the other room, 1003, and found Sanjeevan alone and fully clothed. No woman’s clothes were found in the room.

The report said the inspector told police she was there to meet Sanjeevan but denied having any intimate relationship.

Seremban OCPD ACP Muhammad Zaki Harun confirmed the report and said the suspects did not commit any crime.

From Poca to khalwat, Sanjeevan asks ‘what’s next’?

MyWatch chairman says viral text message of him being the target of a khalwat raid was an attempt to tarnish his reputation.

PETALING JAYA: MyWatch chairman Sanjeevan R has denied ever meeting a policewoman, as claimed in a viral text message about a khalwat raid in Seremban.

Speaking to FMT, Sanjeevan confirmed that when he was staying at a hotel in Seremban, the authorities conducted a khalwat raid there at 1.30am today.

They went to his room but found nothing amiss.

In the viral text, it was claimed that the joint raid by the Negeri Sembilan religious authorities and a police team from Bukit Aman led them to two adjoining rooms.

In the first room, it was alleged that the lone occupant emerged after 10 minutes. She was a fully-clothed policewoman.

The viral text said authorities did not find any male clothing in her room.

In the next room, the alleged occupant was Sanjeevan. The authorities did not find any female clothing in his room.

It was further alleged that the policewoman admitted to meeting Sanjeevan, but no intimate relations took place.

Sanjeevan said the part about the policewoman admitting to meeting him was a “blatant lie”.

He said he had never met the policewoman on that day and had only seen her before at some events.

Furthermore, he said he could not be held responsible for what happened in the adjoining room.

“What happens if there is a female minister staying in the adjoining room? Will people say that I am having intimate relations with her?”

Sanjeevan said that the spreading of the message was a clear attempt at tarnishing his reputation.

MyWatch’s Sanjeevan, woman inspector questioned in khalwat raid

PETALING JAYA: MyWatch chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan and a police inspector were caught during a khalwat (close proximity) raid at a luxury hotel in Seremban on Friday.

Sanjeevan and the inspector, reported to have been transferred, have not been arrested nor anything seized from them.

According to a report filed by Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS), the raiding team comprising officers from JIPS and Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department, went to two connecting rooms at the hotel at 1.30am.

The report said the inspector told police she was there to meet Sanjeevan but denied any intimate relationship.

Seremban OCPD ACP Muhammad Zaki Harun confirmed the report. He said the suspects did not commit any crime.

On the transfer of the inspector, he said it was unrelated to the case and transfers were normal procedures in the force.

Sanjeevan to be arrested under POCA?

The crime buster is not ruling out this possibility after getting a phone call from an unknown man last week

KUALA LUMPUR: Crime buster S Sanjeevan does not discount the possibility of being arrested under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) after being “tipped off” by an unknown man last week through a phone call.

Sanjeevan, who heads the MyWatch – a crime prevention organisation – told Berita Daily that he was informed by the man that Bukit Aman police have completed an investigation file on him under POCA.

Asked about the reason, Sanjeevan said that it could be due to his recent expose of sex trade involving a massage spa near the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

“The man, who was a Chinese guy, called me and told me to leave the country for sometime. He said that the police in Bukit Aman are ready to arrest me under POCA. I told the man that I am not afraid. They can come and get me,” he said this afternoon.

“I believe this is because of the recent news which I exposed to the media about sex spa not far from the police headquarters,” he added.

Sanjeevan, who was nearly killed in an assassination attempt a few years ago, described this as yet another attempt to silence him on vice activities involving important figures.

“I think they want me to shut up. Some important people are behind it. I have done nothing wrong so there’s no reason for me to run away.

PROSTITUTION AND GAMBLING ARE RAMPANT…

MyWatch advisor believes drug related gangs behind the assassination attempt

a

PETALING JAYA: MyWatch advisor S Gobi Krishnan today revealed that R Sanjeevan’s shooting incident was related to drug gangs.

There is credible information to suggest this, according to him.

Gobi said he managed to rule out the possibility of the theories through investigations carried out with the assistance of his informers.

Nevertheless he is still unclear which particular groups are involved in the shooting.
