A video of a man peddling what appears to be bottles of syrup and pills in Singapore has been circulating on Facebook since it was uploaded on Friday night (Dec 18).

The transaction was filmed on the buyer’s handphone at a back alley, and it shows the peddler retrieving three bottles of a dark mixture from a motorcycle trunk.

“$100 worth of codeine?” the peddler, a young man, asks the buyer in Mandarin.

Codeine is a controlled substance under the Poisons Act, as it can be addictive and an overdose can be fatal. Drug addicts abuse it as a substitute for other drugs to get high.

As the buyer hands him the money, she pleads for more ‘free gifts’. The young man then takes out more pills from his pouch, before they continue to haggle over the goods.

The word ‘Tramadol’, a pain relief drug, can also be heard in their conversation.
