GREED RAISES ITS UGLY HEAD!
At present, IWK charges a flat rate of between RM2 and RM8 monthly for us, domestic users, depending on categories such as low-cost houses, government quarters, estates or new villages.
If it bills us based on water usage, you can expect to pay a lot more. As much as two or three times more!

Customers raise a stink over IWK plan
PETALING JAYA: Indah Water Konsortium’s plans to bill customers based on water usage instead of a flat rate has drawn flak from consumer groups.
However, the National Water Services Commission (SPAN), which regulates IWK, said the new mechanism was still in the planning stages with public consultations conducted since early October for feedback on the proposed tariff system.
“IWK needs to balance its operating costs against revenue since it is taking over new sewerage systems yearly,” said SPAN acting CEO Mohd Ridhuan Ismail.
“It needs to look at a more equitable structure fair for the company and its customers,” he told The Star.
…
SPAN said it would submit IWK’s proposal, and public feedback to the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry for Cabinet discussions.
“As the new system will be a volumetric system, households will be billed on actual usage. It is based on the meter. So for some, there may be an increase in their IWK bill, but for others there could even be a decrease,” Mohd Ridhuan said.
