ISMA, acronym for Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia.
CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS? Our taxes support ISMA, this “obtuse, dense, ignorant, and stupid” organization that spends its time spouting insults.
This is what ISMA says:
The Chinese are intruders into Malay land, and had been brought by British colonialists to oppress the Malays. Indians and Chinese were brought into the country to weaken the Malay identity and undermine the community’s birthright to Tanah Melayu on the pretext of multiculturalism.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 — Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) is initiating a campaign for Malaysia to be recognised as an “Islamic state”, citing among others the position of Islam in the Federal Constitution and influence of the religion here.
It is employing the handsign of letter “C” to symbolise the crescent moon, one of Islam’s symbol.
The five-month campaign called “Malaysia Negara Islam” (Malay for “Malaysia an Islamic State”) aims to gather one million signatures to support its claim, which will then be presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Promotional materials for the campaign also employs the Jawi script — where Arabic alphabet is used to spell Malay words ― rather than the Roman script, ostensibly to direct it exclusively to those who can read it and are most likely to be Malays.
A thread on Isma’s Twitter account listed eight items on its agenda, most notably the rejection of Malaysia as a secular country, and to stress that Malaysia is “Tanah Melayu” or “land of the Malays” with the Malays its native citizens.
In addition, it called for stronger role for Islamic jurisprudence in the national justice system. Currently, Shariah jurisprudence is under state jurisdiction instead of federal.
The campaign urged Malaysians to fight in implementing Islamic obligations in the national context.
It also wishes to promote the assimilation of Islam into the Malay culture, among others in its language, tradition, clothing and food.
In a promotional video of the campaign, Isma listed the Putrajaya Mosque, the Islamic architecture of the Prime Minister’s Department, congregational prayers, the Malay martial arts of silat, daily calls to prayer and Muslim women covering their heads as “proof” of Islam’s influence in the country.
At the launch in Kuala Lumpur International Hotel yesterday, Isma president Aminuddin Yahaya claimed there is a concerted effort to declare Malaysia as a secular country following Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) win on May 9.
“We see these evil attempts still continue, and more dangerously when those who believe in that are among the country’s leadership,” he said.
Aminuddin also leads Gerakan Pembela Ummah, a coalition of Malay-Muslim groups that have held several rallies against the PH administration this month — on December 8 against an anti-racial discrimination convention, and last Friday over the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Muhammad Kassim.

Isma chief guilty of sedition, fined RM2,000
KAJANG, Aug 30 — Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman today was found guilty of sedition over his remarks in a 2014 article labelling the ethnic Chinese as “intruders” in Malaysia.
“The defence has failed to provide reasonable doubts. OKT is found guilty and convicted under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act,” Sessions Court Judge Noridah Adam said in the courtroom here.
Abdullah Zaik’s lawyer, Salim Bashir, later pleaded on his client’s behalf by saying that this was his first conviction and that he has a family.
Noridah later told the Isma president to pay a RM2,000 fine for his conviction.
The conviction under the alternative sedition charge carries a punishment of up to three years’ jail or a fine of maximum RM5,000 or both.

Pay taxes but leave Malaysia’s future to us, Isma tells ‘immigrant’ citizens
BANGI, May 9 — Non-Muslims must continue to pay taxes but should just leave the Malays and Muslims to run the country, Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) said today even as Putrajaya seeks to coax the minority groups to join the civil and security forces.
Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman has repeatedly said the Chinese and Indian communities have no right to question national policies involving the Malay and Muslim majority, and was today asked if the minorities should pay less tax.
“It is the remuneration they pay as citizens, so they have to pay… they earn their income from the country, therefore they have to pay taxes,” he told a news conference here.
Abdullah also maintained that the country’s non-Muslim citizens, whom he has unapologetically labelled “immigrants”, have no right to object to the shaping of Malaysia as an Islamic country, as well as the position of the Bumiputera community, which includes the Malays.
“This cannot be questioned by any immigrant race… they have to accept the special position of Malays and Bumiputera as the sovereign race in this country,” he said.
He reiterated that non-Muslims, especially the Chinese should not go “overboard” in meddling over issues which concerned the Muslim community.

‘Sexy’ women fighters in muay thai ad tempting Allah’s wrath, Isma claims
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Muslim group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) blasted the Kedah authorities today for installing billboard advertisements of “sexy” women muay thai fighters, claiming the pictures would invite the “wrath of Allah” on the state.
The group’s Kedah chapter said the billboards were considered sinful because they showed the fighters garbed in “indecent” wear.
A screenshot from Isma’s website ismaalorstar.net shows a post that claims advertisements posted in Kedah that show pictures of ‘sexy’ women muay thai fighters would invite the ‘wrath of Allah’ in the state.
The group’s Kedah chapter said the billboards were considered sinful because they showed the fighters garbed in “indecent” wear.
“These are advertisements that would invite the wrath of Allah!” Kedah Isma chief Abdul Fisol Mohd Isa was quoted as saying in an interview with the group’s website ismaalorstar.net.
The billboards are promotional advertisements for the Z1 International 2014 Mentri Besar Muay Thai Tournament, which features pictures of both men and women fighters.
Men muay thai fighters are usually dressed only in shorts, while the women are dressed in shorts and a sports bra that fully covers the breasts.
The report said, however, that the advertisement is considered sinful because the women featured had not put on hijab (veil) or covered the “aurat”.
Isma labels Kit Siang “anti-Malay”

Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has trained its guns on DAP veteran leader Lim Kit Siang, calling him anti-Malay, as tensions escalate between the controversial Muslim rights group and the opposition party.
Its deputy president Aminuddin Yahaya accused Lim of wanting to wipe out the Malay race, language and culture.
“We advise Lim not to pretend and hide behind his Malaysian mask anymore… He has been rejecting the Malays since the 1960s,” he said today in an article on Isma’s website.
Aminuddin was responding to Lim accusing Isma of being the biggest enemy of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia slogan, where Lim said Isma preached hate and racist politics.
Isma chief launches new attack, speaks of ‘Jewish-led’ threat against Malays, Islam
Relentless in his attacks against non-Muslims despite a public outcry over controversial remarks made recently, Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman is now calling on Malays to fight for their rights or risk losing their Islamic identity in Malaysia to ” proxies of capitalist Jewish groups”.
In an open letter to the Malays, Abdullah Zaik said it was their collective responsibility to protect Islam and its supreme position in the country.
“Don’t allow foreign races to impose their wants on us.
“Leave fear behind and step forward to state your stand, we are duty bound to protect our rights in determining the way forward in this country,” he said in a statement.
He also cautioned against what he termed as “games of the enemy”, with allegations of racism and extremism and the like.
“They are playing psychological mind games so that the sons of the soil will not rise up to protect their rights,” he said.

‘I am Chinese, and I support Isma’
Amid the criticism that it has been receiving for labelling the Chinese community as intruders, Ikatan Musliman Malaysia (Isma) has found a supporter in the form of a Chinese Muslim.
Days after another Chinese Muslim by the name of Muhammad Ooi posted a video asking Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman (right) to state his motives, Alifah Ting Abdullah, a member of Isma’s youth wing Pembina, has come out in support of the organisation.
In her opinion piece published on Isma’s website, Alifah said she is a Chinese Muslim who knows “her roots” and constantly remembers that whatever it is, the future and administration of this country would always be shaped by Malay Muslims.
“If (the Chinese) can’t tolerate and have respect like how our ancestors had when they signed the social contract to be in this country, I think it is better to apply for citizenship in China,” she said.
Alifah labelled Isma as an outspoken body that does its talking based on “facts, history and the Al-Quran.”
“Isma doesn’t throw stones and then hide their hands.
“We will defend the social contract, we will champion Islam. We, the Chinese community who know our roots, support Isma wholeheartedly,” she added.
Her sentiments were, however, not shared by another activist from an Islamic NGO, who took offense to being called ‘pendatang’.
Although Ikram Malaysia’s Dr Harlina Halizah Siraj does not specifically mention Isma, she said that her ancestors, too, were ‘pendatang’ or migrants from Java.
“I am Dr Harlina Halizah Siraj and I am a ‘pendatang’ from Java..
“Everytime someone demands that ‘pendatang’ know their place and for the unhappy ones to return to the homes of their ancestors, I feel hurt,” she wrote on Facebook.
Harlina, who is vice chief of Ikram’s Wanita wing, added that Islam, too, spread to the Malay archipelago thanks to Arab migrants.
“So when will we stop blaming others when the weakness lies with ourselves and our failure to learn and improve?” she asked.
She also attached a picture of her family visit to their ancestoral village in Indonesia last February.

‘Stop the dangerous disease called Isma’
According to S Vell Paari, when somebody first mentioned the term “Isma” to him, he thought it was a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
“I am not joking. That’s exactly what I thought,” Vell Paari told Malaysiakini.
“But now I know that Isma is not a STD but something far worse.
“It is a more debilitating illness, which if left unchecked, could ruin all that we have achieved until now,” Vell Paari warned.

What’s your aim, Chinese Muslim asks Isma
A concerned Malaysian has issued a video and a letter pressing for Ikatan Musliman Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdullah Rahman to reveal his true motive for tearing at the fabric of Malaysia’s multi-racial harmony.
Declaring himselt to be a Chinese-Muslim, Muhammad Ooi said Abdullah Zaik’s statement that “Chinese were intruders like the British who came to exploit the Malays”, clashed with his understanding of Isma’s objectives.
Speaking calmly in the short video uploaded on YouTube, Ooi urged Isma’s members to stop Abdullah Zaik and other Isma leaders from making any more such statements, as it hurt people like him and could spark racial conflict.
“What is the benefit to ustaz to make such a statement over and over again?” Ooi said, referring to Abdullah Zaik by his honorific title.
“Isn’t it better that ustaz try to understand Malaysia’s multi-cultural society and not to make any race feel small or make people in Malaysia feel uncomfortable about their different races?”
Ooi added that he was just an ordinary citizen, passing on a message. He revealed that he has been a Muslim for decades, since he was 16 years old.
“I am not looking for a fight,” Ooi also wrote in a posting on his Facebook page, published around midnight.
“I am just sick and tired with many of the Isma president’s statements which do not reflect good moral values to other Malaysians. His action is a step backward and does not help Chinese or any other race from coming to true Islam,” Ooi said.

The Chinese are here, deal with it, Dr M tells Isma
KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad told Malaysians to accept the fact that the Chinese community is part of the country’s makeup, instead of trying to instigate racial tensions.
The former prime minister pointed his criticism at Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) which this week claimed that the Chinese are intruders in the Malay homeland.
“This does not help keep the peace, no need to say those things. It’s not contributing to any good in this country,” Dr Mahathir told reporters today after a book launch at the Ministry of Defence.
“The fact is the Chinese are here, they’re Malaysian citizens, they have all their rights and we don’t want people to instigate racial riots and things like that.”

‘Pendatang can’t intrude, but must pay taxes’
The Malay pressure group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) stresses that non-Malays that it calls “pendatang” (migrants) should pay taxes as usual, despite insisting their involvement in politics should not extend to interfering in Malay-Muslim affairs.
Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman (right) said this when asked by the media if non-Muslims taxes should be lowered, since their political involvement was asked to be limited.
“According to the principles of fairness, all those pendatang races have to accept the special position of the Malays and bumiputera in the country as the sovereign race.
“The involvement of non-Muslims in politics – to the point of interfering in the affairs of the Malay race and Islam, and that denies the sole right of the Malays in determining our future – is outrageous and should be corrected,” he told reporters today.
“On the issue of taxes, it is the remuneration they pay as citizens, so they have to pay.
“They earn their income from the country, therefore they have to pay taxes,” he said at a press conference this morning.

After insulting the Chinese by calling them “trespassers”, Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has now trained its guns on an MIC leader who had earlier criticised the Islamist group.
Isma vice-president II Abdul Rahman Mat Dali warned MIC strategy director S. Vell Paari (pic) today not to open his “big mouth” to make “nonsensical” statements.
“Do not open your big mouth. It is better to keep quiet than to make statements that are nonsensical.
“He (Vell Paari) should not interfere with issues that have nothing to do with him,” Abdul Rahman said in an article posted on Isma’s website today.
Abdul Rahman was hitting back at the MIC leader for saying that the name Isma is like a venereal disease and an unentertaining clown. Vell Paari had made the remarks after Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman labelled the Chinese as “trespassers”.
Abdul Rahman said Vell Paari had gone overboard with his remarks and it sounded as if he was challenging Isma and all Muslims.
“I say that he is childish and lacking sense,” Abdul Rahman said.

‘Intruder’ remark spot on, say Isma backers
“I am convinced that the Chinese are trying to forget or erase this historical fact. Perhaps they think that Tanah Melayu which has been changed to Malaysia is co-owned (by them).
“But as a Malay, how can I accept such an assumption (on the part of the Chinese)?”
The above are excerpts from a comment penned by one Sulaiman, from Kuala Kurau, Perak, which was published on the Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) website.
After coming under intense criticism over Isma president Abdullah Zaik Abdullah Rahman’s remark that Chinese Malaysians are “intruders”, the movement published a report stating that numerous Malaysians supported his stand.
It also published a handful of comments to that effect, under the heading “Isma dapat sokongan padu rakyat Malaysia” (Isma has the solid backing of Malaysians).
Among them was Sulaiman’s, who stated that the Chinese cannot be co-owners of this land because their ancestors originated from mainland China and the same applies for the Indians.
“So the Chinese should accept Abdullah’s statement, there is nothing wrong with it.
“To me, it is not seditious. But what can I say, all this is happening because the Malays are too tolerant,” Sulaiman added.

Chinese are intruders who bully Malays, says Isma
Unhappy with criticisms over its stand on the hudud, conservative Muslim pressure group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has resorted to calling Chinese Malaysians “intruders”.
Its president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman said that after intruding, ancestors of ethnic Chinese Malaysians today were “in cahoots with the British” to oppress Malays.
“The Chinese came to this country with the British as intruders. Who gave them citizenship and wealth to the extent of the fruits of their intrusion is protected to this day?
“It is all the fault of the British who were in cahoots with the Chinese to oppress and bully the Malays,” he said in a statement published by Isma’s website today.
Urging the Malays to correct this “historical mistake”, Abdullah Zaik (right) also called on Malays to protect the sovereignty of Islam and Malays in “Tanah Melayu”.
Tanah Melayu, literally translated as ‘Malay Land’ is a term referring to Malaya.
See how they insult us!
Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman, in warning non-Muslims to watch their mouth, says, “I don’t see what their contributions are for them to be given so many privileges in the first place.”
What contributions do non-Muslims make? Malaysian Insider lists ten, for starters.
1) Non-Muslims are tax-payers and this tax revenue allows the government to support frivolous and dangerous causes such as Perkasa and Isma to scold and insult non-Muslims.
2) The only medals at the last Olympics in 2012 came from Lee Chong Wei and Pandalela Rinong.
3) Shoe-maker Jimmy Choo.
4) The first Malaysian to climb Mount Everest was M. Magendran in 1997.
5) In motor sports: Yoong Yin Fah in motor racing, his son Alex Yoong in F1 and Karamjit Singh in rallying.
6) Nicol David is the top-ranked squash player in the world
7) The Chinese in the 1820s started the tin mining industry.
8) H.N. Ridley broght rubber seedlings that started the rubber industry.
9) BS Rajhans directed the first Malay-language movie, ‘Leila Majnun’, that became the start of the Malayan and Malaysian film industry that ironically began in Singapore.
10) Masjid Negara was designed by UK architect Howard Ashley, together with Hisham Albakri and Baharuddin Kasim.
What are your contributions to the nation, says Isma warning non-Muslims over hudud issue
Muslim rights group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has warned non-Muslims in the country that they have no right to oppose the plan to implement hudud, and said non-Muslims should understand that there are limitations to what they can say.
Its president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman said non-Muslims “should be thankful that they have more than what they need in this country”.
“I don’t see what their contributions are for them to be given so many privileges in the first place,” he said on the sidelines of a two-day International Muslim Thinkers Conference organised by the group in Kuala Lumpur today.
“Their strong stand against hudud gives the impression that they are in a dream world; they must realise that they have no say in determining the future of Muslims in this country,” he added, in a comment on PKR and DAP opposing the plan by their Pakatan Rakyat coalition partner PAS to implement hudud in Kelantan.
