Four policemen nabbed for alleged hold-up of motorist and passengers
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 9, 2013): Four policemen on crime prevention rounds were arrested just hours after they allegedly robbed a motorist and his passengers of cash and valuables in Cheras on Sunday.
The policemen, all uniformed constables in their 20s and from the Cheras district police headquarters, had apparently stopped a motorist on the pretext of carrying out routine police checks.
It is learned that they robbed the driver of the car and his passengers of cash and valuables during the “check” before letting them go.
The motorist lodged a police report soon after and a police team from the Cheras Criminal Investigations Department swung into action.
Within hours, all four rogue cops, believed to be carrying their service pistols, were traced and arrested by their colleagues.
Cheras police chief ACP Mohan Singh Tara Singh said today that the policemen have been remanded for investigations.
He said police are also trying to ascertain if they were involved in similar crimes in the past.
