Over a long conversation this week, 李老师不是你老师@whyyoutouzhele told me how challenging it is to become the unlikely central hub of China protest information & the immense pressure that came with it.

Here's his story told in his own words. @techreview https://t.co/DbfvRi9rCU
“In the months after my [Weibo] account was gone, I kept registering new accounts, and they kept getting banned. In about two months, I had 50 accounts suspended. The fastest record was when it took 10 minutes for an account to disappear [after registration]."

"The day I was online for the longest was not in the past few days; it was during the Foxconn [protest]. Because the situation was developing so quickly, if they didn’t stop, I couldn’t stop. It didn’t cross my mind that since this had nothing to do with me, I could go to sleep."

He also threatens to leave Twitter and move to another platform if Twitter suspends his account "in order to protect an international scam syndicate". pic.twitter.com/g1IKUxpQHO

Li is in a rather precarious position right now. His family in China gets visited by the police and he’s trying to stay in Italy. Accusations of being a Chinese agent or financial scammer certainly won’t help his immigration process.

Teacher Li played a crucial role in helping Chinese protesters, then doxxing and attacks followed.
— Wenhao (@ThisIsWenhao) December 6, 2022
Plot twist: the attacks did not come from the Chinese government. They are from a famous US-based Chinese Twitter influencer who is supposedly critical of China. 1/
In interviews with several media outlets, Li talked about how the Chinese police has visited his family and asked whether he was paid to post videos or has a team behind him. Soon, online doxxing and accusations against him began.

But the attacks didn’t come from China. 3/
With scant evidence, Fang claims that Li has a team working for him to find and post videos. He said Li is either an agent for the Chinese government or part of an international scam syndicate. 5/
