Police question man who has allegedly asked for sexual favour from woman

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have questioned the man who had allegedly asked to have sex with a woman in a recorded conversation which has become viral on social media.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said police investigated the case under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a person.

“Police have recorded a statement from the man whose voice was heard in an audio clip.

“We urge the victim and her mother (the woman whose voice was in the clip) to step forward to facilitate investigations,” he said when contacted by the New Straits Times.

The alleged clip of a phone conversation between him and a woman has recently made its round on social media.

He was heard coaxing the woman to persuade her daughter to have sex with him.

The man at the centre of the investigation is alleged to be a former MIC branch chairman, who is also a 56-year-old teacher.

‘Sex predator’: Man claims to have 60 audio clips, reveals 3-week sting

Published:     Modified:

A man has claimed that he possesses 60 audio recordings of a former MIC branch chairperson who is accused of offering favours in return for sex, including with teenagers.

In a video circulating via messaging system WhatsApp, the man also revealed that the former branch leader had been “trapped” following a three-week-long sting.

He was referring to the recording of the MIC man’s telephone conversation with a woman, in which he promised a job for her daughter in exchange for sex with the latter.

“I happen to know the victim’s family. The woman in the audio clip is a single mother and although suffering from poverty, she managed to educate her daughter to the point of getting a degree.

“The girl found it difficult to get a job despite going for 20 to 30 interviews. This is when the family came across the accused, who promised to help out,” the man said in Tamil.

According to him, when the 56-year-old Tamil school teacher first made the “indecent proposal” to the girl’s mother, about three weeks ago, she had told him off.

Lured to MIC HQ

However, it was the man in the video who convinced the mother to continue engaging with the accused in order to secure evidence against him.

Following this, the man said, he sought the help of a friend, who is the son of a senior MIC leader, and the latter, upon hearing the recordings, agreed that action should be taken against the accused.

He said for the last three weeks, a “trap” was set, with each conversation with the suspect recorded.

He added that various attempts were made to meet the accused but he failed to turn up until he showed up at the MIC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The man said when the suspect was eventually “caught”, the affected mother refused to come forward or lodge a police report.

“She told me she does not want to get involved or lodge a police report. She was worried that if the matter was reported, it would be highlighted in the media, causing embarrassment to the family. She told me to handle the matter,” he added.

Reports lodged

As for her daughter, the man said she has been asked to attend an interview with a government-linked company, following the intervention of MIC leaders.

See a doctor, Saravanan tells MIC man accused of soliciting sex

Published:     Modified:

A video clip of an MIC branch leader who was forced to resign for allegedly soliciting sex from a teenager meeting with Deputy Youth and Sports Minister M Saravanan is making the rounds on Facebook.

Accompanied by his wife, the man tried to “seek help” from the former party deputy president.

In the video, Saravanan can be seen telling the man to “immediately see a doctor”.

“You are sick. This is a sickness. Listen to me.

“The sickness may become worse, you know where it will lead? To peek at your own children when they are sleeping.

“A lot of people who rape their daughters, it’s not because of sexual urges, but because of this sickness,” Saravanan had told the man.

When contacted, Saravanan said the meeting took place at the MIC headquarters’ service centre in Kuala Lumpur.

“I was at the HQ and I terjumpa (happened to meet) him.

“I heard that he had disturbed others and so on, so I asked him why he did this.

“He said he had mental problems and did not realise what he was doing,” said the deputy minister, adding that he then told the man to seek professional help.

The deputy minister explained that he did not lodge a police report on the matter as it is the victim who must do so.

“I can’t do anything… if anyone else (other than the victim) does a police report, the police will ask for proof.

“So my advice to the victim is to lodge a police report,” Saravanan said.

Teacher transferred out after sex allegation

Muzliza Mustafa

A FORMER MIC branch chairman, who allegedly solicited sex from a teenager, has been transferred out of the school where he was teaching, said Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan.

The teacher has been given desk duties at the Education Department while the sex allegation is being investigated.

A police report has also been lodged against him.

“I have got the audio clips and we are probing the case,” Kamalanathan (BN- Hulu Selangor) said in Parliament lobby today.

The deputy minister said the suspect’s behaviour does not represent the 4,000 MIC branch chairmen nationwide.

“We have 4,000 MIC chairmen. They are reputable people. This one does not represent the rest,” said Kamalanathan.

Kamalanathan: Teacher will be booted out of profession if claims of sexual advances are true

JOHOR BARU: The Education Ministry has conducted an internal investigation into the case where a 56-year-old Tamil school teacher allegedly requested sexual favours from his students.

Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan said the ministry would wait for a final report before deciding if any action will be taken against the teacher.

“If he is found guilty, there is no place for him in schools,” he told reporters after attending the national-level symposium on student affairs here on Wednesday.

Kamalanathan said he was disgusted by such conduct, and if such claims were true, the person was not fit to be an educator.

It was reported that the teacher, who is also an MIC branch leader, had allegedly asked for sexual favours from underage girls.

MIC branch chairman resigns amid underage sex scandal, claims Vell Paari

“From the voice note that I have heard, it is very clear that he was not drunk and was in sound mind when talking to the mother of his next targeted victim.”

According to Vell Paari, the man’s resignation from the party, is not a “get out of jail” card.

He said that the case will be forwarded to the Sentul district police for further investigation.

“I have informed the district police chief that on my return from an overseas trip, I intend to make a police report against this guy and provide the police with all the evidence, especially the video where he admitted what he has done.”

Vell Paari also called for members of the public who have heard the voice note to lodge a police report against the former branch chairman.

“They (underage girls) need to be rescued and this guy must be taken off the street.
PETALING JAYA: A branch chairman from MIC has resigned from the party over allegations of seeking sexual favours from underage girls, claims Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari…

The MIC treasurer-general said he came into possession of a voice recording of the man’s attempts to convince a mother to allow her daughter to engage in sexual favours in return for job opportunities.

“What is frightening is that in his conversation, he admits to having sex with four young girls studying for SPM.

“He even boldly said that one of the victims had only recently turned 18. It is evident that he is a sexual predator and is targeting underage girls for his own pleasure,” Vell Paari said in a statement Tuesday.
