Siti Nurhaliza not Harapan’s pick for Semenyih – Mukhriz
SEMENYIH POLLS | Pop singer Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin’s name is not on the list of potential Pakatan Harapan candidates for the Semenyih by-election, Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir said today.
“It must be just a rumour. I am involved in the process of selecting the candidate.
“Her name has not come up so far. I do not know if there will be a suggestion later. I am not sure if she is a Bersatu member,” he told reporters in Alor Setar today.
Mukhriz, the Kedah menteri besar, was asked to comment on speculation that the singer would contest the March 2 by-election on a Harapan ticket.

Siti Nurhaliza not appearing at anti-kleptocracy rally this Saturday
A poster claiming that popular singer Siti Nurhaliza will attend the “Love Malaysia, Eradicate Kleptocracy” gathering this Saturday has gone viral on social media.
However, her manager Rozi Abdul Razak declined to comment about the poster, the origins of which is unknown.
“I do not think it is fair to Siti for me to comment anything on this. (Questions about the poster) should be directed to Pakatan Harapan.
“Why they have to do so, or let them deny it,” she said to Malaysiakini today.
DAP’s Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua has confirmed that the poster is “fake news”.
Meanwhile, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman asked the public not to spread false news.
“The public should stop accusing Siti,” he said.
When asked whether Bersatu would be interested if Siti wanted to join the party, Saddiq simply said: “Of course.”
“She is my idol and the idol of many Malaysians, but I do not agree if anyone were to misuse her popularity for political interests.
“Siti is someone who is well-respected. She can make her own decisions for herself without any proxies,” Saddiq said.

Bersatu fielding Siti Nurhaliza in Pekan? Fake news, party says
A rumour is spreading that Umno-splinter group Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has found a candidate to take on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in Pekan.
The candidate? None other than megastar Siti Nurhaliza.
Or so some would like to believe. Bersatu, however, says it is not true.
“Fake news,” Bersatu strategist Rais Hussin told Malaysiakini in a text message.
He was responding to an election style poster featuring Siti Nurhaliza as a Bersatu candidate for the Pekan parliament seat.
The poster is making the rounds on social media, and has even been shared by pro-administration Facebook group, Friends of BN.
Sin Chew Daily reports that Siti Nurhaliza’s manager had “no comment” when asked about the poster.
It would not have been the first time a pop singer has been fielded by the opposition in elections.
Ever wonder why Dato Siti Nurhaliza didn’t showed up & singing during closing ceremony sea games? Cause she’s love Tun Dr Mahathir like I do
