OF FISH, FISH PONDS AND UNSUITABLE FISH FOOD…
Not only will Muslims be horrified to learn that the fish they bought was fed with pig flesh, the Chinese are equally horrified.
When I went fishing with a friend in the 1960s, we were shocked to learn that the fish farmer fed his fish with pig dung. The dung was floating in all his ponds. We never returned to the place. It was in Simpang Pulai, Ipoh.
In 2010, I learnt that the practice was still going on.
…
This was the fish farm raided on 7 March.

Now they have found no pig DNA in it. The operator is believed to be operating illegally on mining land.
Can he sue?

No pig DNA found in Kampar pool fish samples
.
TELUK INTAN: Laboratory tests found no pig deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in fish from a disused mining pool at Kuala Dipang in Kampar, Perak.
Perak Fisheries Department director Dr Bah Piyan Tan said this followed three tests conducted by the Kuala Lumpur Fisheries Biosecurity Centre on samples of fish and water from the pool.
He said the results on March 27 showed they tested negative for pig DNA.
“We cannot say the samples were completely free of pig DNA because after 72 hours, researchers will have difficulty finding DNA as the food had been digested.
“Maybe, when the samples were taken long after the incident but researchers did find remains of animal bones and flesh in the pool,” he told reporters after a gotong-royong programme in conjunction with the 2017 National Farmers Wave here today.

Perak fish farm allegedly using pig flesh as feedstock ordered closed

PASIR SALAK: The operator of a freshwater fish farm which allegedly used pig carcasses to feed fish reared at a disused mining pond in Kuala Dipang, Kampar, has been ordered to cease operations.
Deputy Agriculture and Agro-Based Minister Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said he will be asking fishery officers to look into the matter without delay, and if true, the fish farm will be shut down for good and action taken against the operator.
“We do not know if the operator has sold fish to Muslims or whether the fish is being served to (Muslims). If the case is true and this has happened, it is bad for us,” he said.

IPOH: Freshwater fish being reared in a pond located on a five-hectare site in Kuala Dipang, Kampar, are believed to be fed with pig flesh and carcasses.
The Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) stumbled on the practice in an operation yesterday.
JAIPk Halal Management Unit assistant director Yusri Abdul Rani said pig bones and traces of its flesh were found around the pond.
“We had to pass through three blockades, as it was a restricted area but the property owner seemed to have expected our visit as he managed to flee before we arrived.
“They also tried to demolish the site, which is said to be a disposal site for pig carcasses, when they heard we were coming,” he said.
According to Yusri the fish pond, which rears several fish species including ‘patin’, ‘rohu’ and ’tilapia’, was a former mining pool and had been operating for over five years.

Farmed tilapias allegedly fed pig carcasses
Perak MB urges investigations be carried out.
IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir has urged relevant departments, including the fisheries and Islamic religious departments to conduct an investigation into an allegation that tilapias reared at a pond in Bukit Tinggi, Redang near Kubu Gajah here are fed with pig carcasses.
He said this was important as it involved the religious sensitivities of a multiracial society, especially in Perak.
“The action by certain parties dumping the carcasses in the pond leaves a bad impression. I therefore, request for an investigation on this report and appropriate action to be taken,” he told reporters after chairing an exco meeting here.
A newspaper yesterday reported that images had been uploaded by an individual on Facebook, believed to be that of pig carcasses placed in the middle of a fish pond.
Following this, personnel from the state fisheries department and several other agencies including the Perak Islamic Religious Department, Selama district office and the police went to the said premises yesterday.
