A video of four bunnies falling asleep in drinking glasses by a Singapore-based owner has sparked an online debate.

First uploaded on YouTube by user ekdikisis on Dec 12, the 1min 19sec clip shows two of the white rabbits already asleep in the cups while the other two only doze off at the end.

The rabbit in the third glass appears to be the most active as it rolls around and even tries to harass its two sleeping neighbours.

Not everyone has nice things to say about the video, however, with some of them branding the act of placing the tiny animals in the cups as cruel.

One user commented: “No. Not ok. The baby rabbits are adorable. How about we put you on a giant glass and leave you.”

Another wrote: “How is trapping animals in glasses cute? It’s not about whether the rabbits are suffering. It’s about what people perceive as cute. Animals are not objects. They are creatures with love, feelings, and souls. They deserve respect from humans. Imagine four human babies in glasses, and they stick their head above the glasses trying to get out. Is that cute too?”

Others have rebuked the criticisms, saying the claims are exaggerated as the bunnies are capable of jumping out of the cups if they were uncomfortable, and that they’re actually much smaller than their huge fluff portray them to be.
