I’ve nothing to do with Kota Raya brawl, says Ali Tinju

by NABIHAH HAMID

President of the Malay Army Veterans Association Mohd Ali Baharom has denied having any role in the brawl at the Kota Raya shopping complex yesterday, which saw the mall shut down early amid accusations that traders there were being unethical.

The self-professed leader of the “red movement” also said he did not know those who were involved in the 5pm fight with staff of a mobile phone shop at the complex.

“The red movement is not involved in that fight. I don’t even know the persons involved.

“I was in Nilai yesterday when I got a phone call from the police asking if I knew anyone involved. We definitely did not do such a thing.

“But if there is no wind, the trees would not be shaking,” Ali, also known as Ali Tinju, told The Malaysian Insider.

Fighting at Kota Raya yesterday resulted in two people injured when some 20 men stormed a mobile phone shop.

The skirmish followed a press conference outside the complex by the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) to condemn traders who allegedly cheated customers.

Police, however, said the press conference by PPIM and the brawl that followed were unrelated.

Muslim consumer group snips racial link to Kotaraya ‘cheating’ incident

BY YAP TZU GING

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — The furore over suspected unscrupulous traders at Kotaraya has nothing to do with race, the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) said today as it sought to douse flames lit by a self-professed Malay rights champion who demonstrated outside the city shopping centre last week.

PPIM special unit director Muhammad Yusuf Azmi said his group saw the incident purely as a violation of consumer rights that had nothing to do with ethnicity.

“We will definitely not link it to race, this is about cheating handphone traders at Kotaraya,” he told Malay Mail Online in a text message today on Whatsapp.

“Because the cheating in Kotaraya involves every race and also the foreigners. That was why we did not define the issue as a racial one,” he added.

The Kotaraya incident Muhammad Yusuf spoke of first surfaced online, over news that a man was lured into a shop there with an offer to buy four handphones for RM200 each, only to be detained against his will and later forced to withdraw money from an ATM to buy the lot for the jacked up price of RM10,000.

No mention was made of the ethnicity of the handphone merchants in the original posting in local website Siakapkeli.

Why no action against Ali Tinju, asks Guan Eng

Embedded image permalink

DAP today said it was unjustifiable that no action had been taken against the controversial Umno grassroots leader Ali Tinju, who led a protest outside Kota Raya shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur last Friday.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng questioned why Ali Tinju, whose real name is Mohd Ali Baharom, had not faced action for what he had done which was based on mere allegations.

“He is an Umno grassroots leader. Why has there been no action taken against him?

“The fact that he could organise racist and anti-minority rallies all on baseless allegations, no action (by the authorities) is unjustifiable,” he told reporters today in Penang.

Ali Tinju cries ‘extreme’ over disciplinary warning from military vets

BY HASBULLAH AWANG CHIK

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — Former soldier Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju, has cried foul over the disciplinary action caution from the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM).

The leader of the “red shirt” movement that purports to champion Malay, Muslim rights insisted all his actions using the military association’s name were in the interest of the race and country, after a rap on the knuckles from the PVATM central leadership yesterday.

“The allegations made are too extreme. During Bersih, we saw them invite the rakyat to rise against the government. At that time, no one could stop Bersih from demonstrating in the streets, making chaos in business areas,” he told ProjekMMO, the sister publication of Malay Mail Online in Bahasa Malaysia.

Yesterday, the PVATM executive leadership accused Mohd Ali of making racial sentiments and warned the former soldier with the Royal Malay Regiment that disciplinary action would be taken if he continued holding activities that tarnished its image.

In response, Mohd Ali accused PVATM president Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor of failing to take care of the welfare of military veterans even though he has been a senator for a year.

According to Mohd Ali, Mohd Anwar was more focused in guarding his own interests and did not raise military welfare in Parliament.

“Tan Sri, though a former general [sic], is still new in the association. He has never contested. He was given power to govern the association but still failed,” he said, referring to Mohd Anwar by his title.

The one time head of the Federal Territory and Selangor chapter of PVATM is also appealing to the Registrar of Societies against its dissolution.

Army veterans’ body warns action on Ali Tinju if racist threats persist

The Federal Territory and Selangor Malay Army Veterans Association established by Mohd Ali had already been dissolved by the Registrar of Societies on April 1, 2014, for failing to comply with certain rules and regulations under the Societies Act 1966, PVATM said.

The Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) will not hesitate to impose disciplinary action against Ali Tinju if he continues to tarnish the image of the association.

According to PVATM executive council, Ali Tinju, whose real name is Mohd Ali Baharom, had often made racist statements which could cause disharmony among the multi-racial people in the country.

Apart from contradicting the practice and principles adopted by veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), the action by Ali Tinju was also deemed to have given the ATM veterans a bad image.

“Racial sentiments propagated by Ali Tinju can affect efforts by the country’s leaders to unite the people of all races and religions in Malaysia,” PVATM said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.

Apandi: Don’t blame me for Ali Tinju’s action

Embedded image permalink

Attorney-general Mohamad Apandi Ali has dismissed MCA’s allegation that he should be held responsible for the action of Mohamad Ali Baharom who organised a protest in Kota Raya yesterday.

MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun had said Apandi did not charge Mohamad Ali or Ali Tinju with sedition for making an inflammatory speech outside Low Yat Plaza.

She said Ali Tinju’s bravado in staging another incitement-filled demontration outside Kota Raya was because Apandi had dropped all sedition charges against him for his action at Low Yat Plaza.

Don’t blame me for Ali Tinju’s actions, says A-G

Attorney-General (A-G) Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said it is unfair to blame him for the actions of Mohd Ali Baharom, who called for a protest outside the Kota Raya shopping complex yesterday, reported Malaysiakini.

“Her comment is not fair because the video of Ali Tinju (at Low Yat Plaza) is not enough (to charge him with sedition).“When I asked if anyone had more evidence (against Ali Tinju), they showed (me) the same video.“So the evidence is insufficient. Don’t blame me if there is not enough evidence,” he was quoted saying.

Ali Tinju, why must every criminal act be racialised?

‘Panas’ protest fails to sizzle, Ali Tinju says he kept it cool

SteveOh: It is not for anyone to take matters into their own hands. If anyone has been cheated, there is the civil remedy or even a criminal investigation.

Go report it to the police. This resorting to mob terror must not be allowed. What are the police doing to deter this sort of terrorising of the minority community?

Why must any alleged criminal act be racialised? Falsely accusing others is also a crime. And so is criminal intimidation and causing public disorder.

LBS: Mohd Ali Baharom (Ali Tinju), I do admit a few Chinese traders do cheat. But if you know that traders who cheated you once, you don’t have to go to him the next time.

I was once cheated by a Malay fishmonger. I didn’t want to make a scene because of RM2 or RM3. I just told myself I would not buy anything from this individual again.

Is it worth it to fight over a small sum of money? We must have a big heart; losing a few dollars won’t make you poorer.

This same fishmonger didn’t haggle for me to buy fish from him anymore as he knew what I knew. I think he must be ashamed to see me again.

Will he cheat again? Maybe, maybe not. May Allah bless him.

Anonymous #03815719: The case has been settled by the Consumers Tribunal and it is unwarranted for Ali Tinju to turn it into a racial issue.

Who is he to go around threatening the Chinese businessmen as if the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) does not exist? Ali Tinju should be arrested and charged without further delay. But will PDRM act?

BH Yap: Either the people, including his own Malay Armed Forces Veterans Association members, are fed up of his antics or he did not pay them enough, or both.

Cocomomo: Malay pride? You are an embarrassment to the Malay race.

Fortunately, most non-Malays know that you do not represent the majority of our Malay sisters and brothers. You are a bunch of hypocrites.

Anonymous #19098644: Even the mat rempit and the silat boys don’t want to be seen with Ali Tinju and his gang of desperados.

He is right on one thing though, there are more media people than his gang present. He doesn’t even have enough people to form a decent choir, let alone a mass protest.

TheAnonymous: Why is it always the Malays who are the one who got cheated? Are they really that naive? They should learn a thing or two from the RM2.6 billion warrior.

Putrajaya must teach Chinese traders not to cheat, says M’sian army veteran

Embedded image permalink

KUALA LUMPUR — Mohd Ali Baharom, a leader of the red shirts movement, urged the government today (Dec 18) to conduct training for Chinese handphone traders, saying this would prevent future cases of cheating.

The army veteran more popularly known as Ali Tinju also said that training these traders would prevent another incident like the bloody brawl at Low Yat Plaza several months ago.

“I request that the government send all Chinese traders for training. If they are trained, then the Low Yat incident would not repeat,” he said at a small protest of about 15 people at the Kotaraya shopping centre here this evening.

Mr Ali Tinju, who organised the protest following reports that a handphone trader had cheated and even detained a customer for several hours, also called for a boycott of the popular city mall.

“I would like to urge people of all races in our country to boycott Kotaraya for the time being until they understand and change,” he said.

Ali Tinju calls for boycott of Kota Raya to teach traders respect

Malaysians must boycott the Kota Raya shopping complex for a year to teach traders there a lesson, says Mohd Ali Baharom, president of the Malay Army Veterans Association.

A planned protest outside the mall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur did not materialise but Ali, also known as Ali Tinju, said he hoped that once news of his call for a boycott was spread on social media, people would teach traders a lesson in respect for consumers.

“I hope patrons of all races will boycott Kota Raya. We will unite on WhatsApp and social media in calling for this boycott. They must be taught to respect consumers,” Ali Tinju told reporters outside the shopping complex this afternoon.

MCA jabs AG for Ali Tinju’s ‘bravado’ |

MCA has blamed Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali for the actions of Mohd Ali Baharom or better known as Ali Tinju.

“It can be safely stated that Ali Tinju’s bravado to organise another incitement-filled demonstration is due to the attorney-general dropping all sedition charges against him despite his inflammatory rhetoric outside Low Yat Plaza.

“By declaring there was no case against him, the authorities appear to consent or condone his racially-charged language thereby emboldening him,” said vice-president Chew Mei Fun.

She said if the AG had not dropped the sedition charges against him, Ali Tinju would have thought twice about organising public protests.

Ali Tinju vows another ‘panas like Low Yat’ this afternoon

Mohd Ali Baharom, or known by his nom de guerre Ali Tinju, and ‘Gerakan Merah’ will gather at the Kota Raya shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, Mohd Ali said this in relation to a handphone outlet in the complex locking up one of its customers.

The Malay Army Veterans Association president vowed the gathering would be “panas” (hot) like the protest which took place outside Low Yat plaza (photo) in July.

zz

“This gathering concerns a shop selling phones which cheated and locked up its customers. We want to see what really happened. This is similar like Low Yat.

“We don’t want these traders to cheat people and take the law into their own hands,” he said.

Asked what ‘Gerakan Merah’ plans to do, Ali Tinju replied: “I am confident this will be like Low Yat. But as the leader of Gerakan Merah, I will settle the issue in a civil manner without violence.”

Ali Tinju plans to hold the gathering at 4pm today.

Muslim group ‘raids’ shop of handphone seller

December 16, 2015

Action taken by the association after the victim alleged that his reports to the relevant authorities were ignored.

z1

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Muslim Consumers’ Association (PPIM) took it upon themselves to raid a mobile phone shop after the seller was accused of duping a buyer, reported Utusan Malaysia today.

The trader, whose shop is located at the Kota Raya complex, was accused of allegedly cheating a buyer and holding the latter against his will when he refused to complete the transaction.

The raid was conducted by the association after the purported victim, Dipres Nasution Arifin, claimed his reports of the incident to several relevant agencies, including the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry fell on deaf ears.

In the initial incident, Dipres claimed he had wanted to buy four handphones from the trader and was enticed by the RM200 per unit price offered.

However, the trader did not hand him the handphones after he made the payment, and instructed him to wait in a room nearby.

To his surprise, Dipres was handed a RM10,000 bill by another man instead of the agreed price of RM800.

He was then stopped from leaving the room until he made the payment. Dipres took the man to the ATM, and paid him RM5,000, which was all he had in his bank account.

LAGI KISAH KOTA RAYA, 16/12/2015..
Datang sendiri menceritakn nasib beliau.
Bile ditanya cari apa, dia diamkan diri sahaja tanpa bercakap sepatah pon. Senyum pun tidak, angguk pon tidak, geleng pon tidak. Lama jugak gelagatnye di perhatikan kami. Sampai gambarnya kami boleh tangkap depan2 tanpa disedari.
Termenung sahaja melihat accessories telefon yg dipamerkan..
“Kenapa pakcik?.”
Sedih melihat raut wajahnya. Lama jgk cuba2 pujuk, akhirnya beliau berjaya menceritakan apa yg tersirat disebalik kesedihan beliau td.
“Pakcik tak tau la nak cakap mcm mana.
Selang beberapa minit, penjual tadi datang membawa telefon yg pakcik td minat.
Pakcik tadi jadi keliru. Td dia tunjuk model lain, yg dibawa model lain.
” Semua sekali RM3100.00″. Kata penjual td.
Terkejut pakcik ni apabila hp yg disangkakan pada mulanya RM800, tiba2 menjadi RM3100.
Disebabkn rasa bersalah kerana semua bil telah siap, takut dimarahi oleh penjual tersebut dan rasa takut sekiranya duit RM1000 beliau hangus, beliau akur shj dgn jumlah yg dinyatakan. Habis kesemua duit yg beliau bawa beliau serahkn.
Beliau kekurangan RM300.
Persoalannya :-
– Harga telefon RM2098 adalah benar.
Tetapi mana datangnya charge fee RM700?. Benarkan android system, antivirus, software boleh mencecah RM700?.
Siapa boleh membantu pakcik ini. Sila tampilkan diri anda.
Sama2 kite share cerita ini utk membantu pakcik ini.
