Woman gives snatch thief an earful, then forgives him #nst170 http://www.nst.com.my/news/2015/10/woman-gives-snatch-thief-earful-then-forgives-him …

KUALA TERENGGANU: To err is human, to forgive is divine.
When beauty spa owner Tun Mardiyah Bilal Muda, 43, had her handbag snatched by a youth along the busy Jalan Sultan Ismail here today, she didn’t fly into a rage. Instead, when onlookers helped catch the snatch thief, Mardiyah chose to sat down and explain to him why his action was wrong, and why she was forgiving him for his crime.
However, Mardiyah’s act of forgiveness did not prevent police from arresting the suspect.
…
The drama unfolded at 4.45pm in front of the Caltex petrol station where Mardiyah was waiting for a friend to fetch her home to Medan Jaya in Chendering.
She had earlier gone to a bank in Jalan Pejabat, adjacent to the New Straits Times Press office, to meet someone there.
…
“As I was waiting by the road side, this youth astride a motorcycle suddenly approached and snatched my handbag containing RM15,000 cash meant to redeem jewellery at an Ar-Rahnu outlet in Chendering, and my personal documents.
…
Two passing hotel workers, Edy Izuwan Awang, 25, and Ridwan Ismail, 30, witnessed the robbery and gave chase on their motorcycles.
They managed to corner the culprit at a dead end and apprehended him with Mardiyah’s handbag intact.
