Police have declared an international conference themed “Love and Sex with Robots” next month as illegal.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the organiser of the event has been warned not to proceed with the event, which has been deemed against Malaysian culture.

The event was scheduled to be held on November 16 to 19.

“Don’t try to be ridiculous. There is nothing scientific about having sex with machines,” said Khalid today.

He added that police will take action against the organiser if it went ahead with the event.

Tourism minister wants to axe the Love and Sex with Robots conference

Love and Sex with Robots

After news got out about the “Love and Sex with Robots” congress that’s set to happen in November Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz wants to give it the axe.

Its seems to be a Malaysian tradition to cancel events on a whim, and this scientific conference looks to be the next victim.

The reason given for cutting down the conference is that the event will “offend the sensitivities of Malaysians” as such things go against societal norms. Secondly, the conference is apparently using the Tourism Malaysia logo without permission and Tourism Malaysia doesn’t want to be associated with such a conference. Oops.

Iskandar M’sia not backing ‘Love and Sex with Robots’ event

Bernama     Published Today 6:38 pm     Updated Today 6:53 pm

Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) today clarified that the agency does not support the organising of the International Congress on Love and Sex with Robots, which said to be held in Iskandar Johor on Nov 16.

The authority, in a statement here today, said IRDA was mandated to plan, promote and facilitate the development of Iskandar and hence, would not authorise, sanction or facilitate such an event.

“Iskandar is paving its way towards becoming a strong and sustainable metropolis of International Standing, hence IRDA is selective as to the type of events that is organised in this region.

“Iskandar is a place to invest, work, live and play in harmonious surrounding that ensures the right balance between economic growth, social and environmental obligations,” the statement said.

The statement was issued following a report in an online news portal two days ago, which stated the congress would be held at Black Box and White Box arts complex in Medini Mall next to Legoland Malaysia in Iskandar, a major economic hub, here.

The congress was also reported to be chaired by City University London’s Professor Adrian Cheok and Intelligent Toys Limited chief officer, Dr David Levy with at least 13 topics for discussion, including Robot Personalities, Teledildonics, Intelligent Electronic Sex Hardware and Gender Approaches.

Authorities Shocked At Upcoming ‘Love And Sex With Robots’ Congress Which Carries Tourism Malaysia Logo, Threaten Action

A conference on robotic technology that aims to discuss on Robot Personalities, Teledildonics, Intelligent Electronic Sex Hardware and Gender Approaches and RoboEthics – a precursor to perhaps a possible future filled with robots that defy morality as seen in the movie ‘I, Robot’, might potentially be scrapped by local authorities, alarmed over its controversial theme.

The global conference, titled Second International Congress on Love and Sex with Robots with the theme ‘Love and Sex with Robots’, titled after the book authored by David Levy, has shocked Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz amongst others over a conference that was deemed insensitive to Malaysians.

The conference is to be chaired by City University London’s Prof Adrian Cheok and Intelligent Toys Limited’s chief officer, Dr David Levy,

Levy has claimed that robots will be humans’ partners in 35 years time and that it will be a ‘positive thing for “millions and millions” of people around the world who don’t have satisfactory relationships’.

Nazri, who was informed of the event that is to take place on Nov 16 in Iskandar Johor, was dismayed at the fact that the conference website (www.loveandsexwithrobots.org) utilized Tourism Malaysia’s logo for Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015.

“By using our logo, the organiser is implying Tourism Malaysia endorses the event. The organisers will be told to remove the logo immediately,” Nazri said, as reported by a local news daily.

Tourism Malaysia Chairman Wee Choo Keong joined in the chorus of disapproval over the use of the Tourism logo for an event that they would not have approved.

“The logo represents our tourist brand and not by any measure would we have approved its use for such an event,” he said.

New owners of a Japanese robot have been asked to sign a no-sex contract before they are allowed to take it home.

SoftBank is making customers promise that they will not use the “emotional robot” Pepper for sex.

“The policy owner must not perform any sexual act or other indecent behaviour,” the agreement states.

Pepper is designed to mimic human emotions and specifically help Japan’s ageing population in their own homes.

People are not allowed to use Pepper, 120cm tall, to hurt others, send spam email or in fact to even take it outside.

Altering its software to give it a ‘sexy’ voice is also banned.

Its bound to invite controversy for it’s too provocative title..perhaps it may not raise any eyebrows
anywhere else but in Malaysia…forget about any conference-just the title is enough to prompt all kinds of ban and threats to action…
