SR to to file defamation reports on Rahman, Lester

Sarawak Report will be filing police reports against Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan and former journalist Lester Melanyi for criminal defamation.

The whistleblower site will also be suing Rahman, the New Straits Times and others whom it deems to have defamed Sarawak Report.

“We are consulting our lawyers with a view to reporting Rahman to the Malaysian police and also issuing libel proceedings against him and other parties, including the New Straits Times and other publications, which have deliberately promoted falsehoods designed to damage the credibility of Sarawak Report.

“We will also report Lester’s vicious criminal libel to the local police (he’s not worth suing) and we warn him and anyone who continues to promote his present and future made-up stories that we will seek appropriate damages,” Sarawak Report wrote on its site.

Designer’s photo inserted into confession video by mistake: Former journalist

KUCHING (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – The photograph of the web designer allegedly used by Sarawak Report to falsify 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) documents was mistakenly inserted into Lester Melanyi’s video confession, the former Sarawak Tribune editor claims.

Lester said he did not know who put in the photograph of one James Steward to accompany his allegation that a web designer had forged e-mails and agreements on the instructions of Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown.

“That photo was inserted by somebody else. He apparently wanted to make it better by inserting the photo, so he Googled the photo on the website and found this guy,” he told The Star on Tuesday.

A  2ND BLACK EYE FOR LESTER! He was declared a bankrupt in June 2012, so how did he leave the country and go to London to meet Justo 2 or 3 times between 2012 and 2013?

How did bankrupt Lester meet Justo in London?

Lester Melanyi has claimed that a raft of documents were fabricated on 1MDB to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

He also claimed to have met PetroSaudi International (PSI) former executive Xavier Andre Justo in London, “two or three times” between 2012 and 2013.

However, Lester is also a bankrupt and is therefore not allowed to leave the country.

Malaysiakini had raised this point during a Whatsapp conversation with the former Sarawak Tribune journalist.

Malaysiakini: You mentioned you met Justo in London, were you given permission by the Insolvency Department to leave the country with your current bankruptcy status?

Lester Melanyi: Do some checks pls.

Malaysiakini: We have obtained the info from the Insolvency Dept.

Lester Melanyi: I know. Brilliant question to catch a liar. U cek (sic) when was I in London and when was I declared a bankrupt.

Malaysiakini: When were you declared a bankrupt?

Lester Melanyi: Nevermind my fren (sic).

A check by Malaysiakini revealed that Lester was declared a bankrupt in June 2012, ahead of his supposed 2013 meeting with Justo in London.

So, how Low can you go, Dato’ Seri Rahman Dahlan?

Getting your BN macais to pay a bankrupt to put up a fabricated video confession?

Who can’t even fabricate properly, putting up a bus company employee in Norwich as the master forger working for the Sarawak Report in London?

Dato’ Seri Rahman Dahlan asked Malaysians to focus on the substance, not the person. He’s right. The Minister has no substance.

Sarawak Report accuser’s video used photo of UK rail service manager

BY JUSTIN ONG

zzThe photograph shown in the video exposé is that of a British railway services manager named James Steward. … KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 — The London-based web designer shown by former journalist Lester Melanyi as the creator of forged documents on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is, in fact, a railway services manager in Ipswich, UK.

In a second video accusing website Sarawak Report (SR) and Malaysian opposition leaders of forging 1MDB documents for a conspiracy to remove Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Lester identified the web designer as one “James Steward Stephen”. But the photograph shown in the video exposé is that of a British railway services manager named James Steward.

The picture appears to have been lifted from the website of the East Anglia chapter of RailFuture, a British advocacy group for better passenger and freight rail services, and  which was used for a summary of a talk Steward gave in 2010 as Norwich area station manager for National Express East Anglia (NXEA).

zxScreen capture of RailFutures website showing the entry on James Steward.

Steward has since joined another rail service provider, Abellio Greater Anglia, where he works as their Ipswich area customer service manager. In the 2010 entry, Steward was described as having worked in rail services for nine years and was a member of the trust council at the Mid-Norfolk Railway where he also served as operations director. But rather than a case of James Steward being rail services manager by day and master forger at night, it is simply that the wrong person’s picture was used in the video.

“James Steward (not James Steward Stephens) is an employee of ours,” Lucy Wright, a media officer with Abellio Greater Anglia, told Malay Mail Online via email this morning.

“This is a case of mistaken identity and James Steward does not have any connections with Malaysia and he is in no way connected with the alleged forgery.”

Pua to start defamation action against Lester Melanyi over 1MDB conspiracy claim

KUALA LUMPUR, July 20—DAP’s Tony Pua today said he will initiate legal action against former Sarawak Tribune editor Lester Melanyi for naming him as a co-conspirator in a plot to forge documents on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MBD).

Expressing shock at Lester’s claim that they communicated on the claimed 1MDB conspiracy, the Petaling Jaya Utara MP said this was a fabrication as he had not heard of the former journalist’s name prior to the release of two videos accusing website Sarawak Report of forging documents on the state-owned firm. “It is a malicious attempt designed to destroy the reputation and credibility of those who were most critical of 1MDB.

“Lester’s accusations meant that I had cheated and lied in my criticisms against the scandal-ridden company and that I had also conspired with other individuals to do the same via the Sarawak Report,” Pua said in a statement today.

In the second video released today, Lester named Pua and PKR’s Rafizi Ramli as the two opposition members that he knew were involved in the conspiracy that he claimed revolved around forgeries built from information secured from former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo.

Lester claimed that he knew of Pua’s participation because the latter had communicated with him to ask if the former journalist was part of the “1MDB action”.
