Lawyer: Banker close to Dr M leaked info on PM’s account
Md Zainal Abidin also says Najib was merely following Mahathir Mohamad’s own system of “paying to stay in power”
KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer Md Zainal Abidin has fingered the man who leaked details of Prime Minister Najib Razak’s AmBank banking accounts.
The man is a banking tycoon who he alleged is very close to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said Md Zainal who heads the NGO called Citizens For Accountable Governance Malaysia (CAGM).
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) alleged on July 3 that as much as USD700 million of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds had been channelled into Najib’s AmBank accounts, a claim Najib has denied, saying he has never utilised 1MDB’s funds for personal use.
Dropping hints, Md Zainal said the banking tycoon, who often went horseback riding with Mahathir, was grateful to the former PM for his success and was willing to expose a “strictly confidential and integral link that has played a pivotal role that helps Umno and BN remain in power”.
“Ambank has disbursed loans amounting to more than RM250 million to companies linked to Mirzan and Mokhzani Mahathir,” Md Zainal was also quoted by The Rakyat Post, as saying, referring to Mahathir’s sons.
Md Zainal made more damning allegations against Barisan Nasional using money from Najib’s accounts to fund its 2013 general election campaign.
BN parties, including Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan, were said to have been given between RM30 million and RM50 million each while “friendly” NGOs and others received between RM1 million and RM8 million each.

Bank Negara trio named for Najib leaks
July 11, 2015
Raja Petra named the trio in an article at his blog Malaysia Today. He said the Malaysian authorities were investigating Nurshamsiah Mohd Yunus, the central bank’s deputy governor, and Shamsuddin Mahayidin and Abdul Rahman Abu Bakar. Nurshamsiah is listed at Bank Negara as one of three deputies under the Governor, Zeti Akhtar Aziz. The other two are directors of the bank, two levels below the governor, and are heads of departments. Shamsuddin is in charge of the Foreign Exchange Administration department, while Abdul Rahman heads the Financial Intelligence and Enforcement department, which acts against money-laundering and other activities. FMT was not able to contact any of the three for their responses to Raja Petra’s article. http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2015/07/11/bank-negara-trio-named-for-najib-leaks/ —

IGP says WSJ under investigation over leaked bank info
—- Malay Mail Online Moles who leaked 1MDB probe details to WSJ will be prosecuted, AG says KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 — The alleged Malaysian officials who leaked confidential information related to an ongoing investigation on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) will face the full brunt of the law, the Attorney-General (AG) warned today. Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail stressed that the leak – which lead to an exposé by the WSJ last week claiming that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) had been funnelled via 1MDB into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s personal bank accounts – is a criminal offence under the Financial Services Act, Islamic Financial Services Act and the Penal Code. “The Attorney General stressed that this was not a question of whistle-blowing because the matter is already under investigation. A further concern was that the documents were allegedly leaked from within the investigation itself,” read a statement issued by the AG’s Chambers. – See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/moles-who-leaked-1mdb-probe-details-to-wsj-will-be-prosecuted-ag-says#sthash.6HkfVR7e.dpuf —

On the 1MDB investigation, it seems clear that the authorities are more interested in stopping further leaks of information and prosecuting …than in prosecuting the wicked people who have stolen so much of the Malaysian people’s money! Fattie Jho Low and the key players of 1MDB are out of the country and may never return to face the music…Likely there will be a massive cover-up and whitewash, and then business as usual, and steal more and more $$$$ until Malaysia is bankrupt! The Ringgit is at an all time low already…Malaysia is already a “banana republic” and I don’t mean the clothing store…
I meant the authorities are more interested in prosecuting whistleblowers who should be congratulated for bringing up this massive corruption to light…than in going after the real villains who is quite clear to all now with all the overwhelming evidence!
