Naked Italians spark protests against antics of drunken tourists in Barcelona
The tipping point was a trio of naked Italian tourists. As photos of the group frolicking through the La Barceloneta neighbourhood last Friday morning circulated on social media, some residents said they couldn’t take it any longer.
A hundred or so Barcelona residents took to the streets in several spontaneous protests this week, demanding that municipal authorities do more to help what they call a scourge of “drunken tourism”.
“Here tourists do whatever they want,” Vicens Forner told El País. A local photographer, he was the one snapping photos of the Italian tourists as they wandered his neighbourhood for three hours in the nude – even popping into a local shop – while horrified residents looked on.

Aboriginals’ fury as French exotic dancer strips on Uluru
A dancer who decided to strip off on Uluru – one of Australia’s most famous landmarks – faces being deported after Aboriginals complained about her actions.
French citizen Miss Alizee Sery stripped down and put on an exotic show for a friend with a video camera on the top of the landmark – more commonly known as Ayers Rock – and posted it on YouTube.
The video shows her climbing the red sandstone monolith in conventional dress and then stripping at the top to a white bikini, white high-heeled boots and a bushman’s hat.

Climbing to the top, she said, was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream – ‘one of those things we must experience in a lifetime.’
She said that if she was going to climb the rock only once in her life, she had to do something out of the ordinary – something catchy and crazy which in turn would give people the courage to believe in themselves.
‘If I can do a strip on Ayers Rock, then anything is possible,’ she said.

The business of being naked
Nude tourism is an industry worth about $440 million every year, according to the American Association for Nude Recreation. Author Mark Haskell Smith saw — and bared — it all to write his new book “Naked At Lunch: A Reluctant Nudist’s Adventures in the Clothing-Optional World.”
Smith did a lot of naked traveling himself for research. He went to a nudist resort in Palm Springs, California, one of 200 in the U.S.
“They’re basically hotels with swimming pools, a lot of times with lakes and park spaces,” he says.
He also went on a cruise on a chartered Holland America ship that had been “commandeered by nudists.” Princess Cruises and other liners do the same thing.
“Basically, you’ve got a cruise ship that is rented by a nudist cruise company,” Smith says. “For them, it’s a big business.”

Nude tourism is also expanding. Fifteen years ago, there were only two cruises, up to 45 this year. And the nude neighborhoods aren’t just in Europe — in Pasco, Florida, there are housing developments just for nudists. “There’s a whole real estate market of people who buy into these areas,” Smith says.

Yet that’s just what tourists around the world have been doing — stripping down in sacred spots like Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu and capturing their bare butts, breasts and beyond to share on Instagram. But authorities aren’t taking the “naked tourism” business lightly — folks caught in the act are getting fined, deported and even banned from visiting the countries.

Tourists Are Getting Naked At Machu Picchu And Peru Wants Them To Stop (NSFW)
The two people who appear in the video are Australian tourist Sydney Rudevies Liam Timothy, 18, and New Zeleander Topp Mathew Jared, 30, according to a police report posted to the Ministry of Culture’s website. Cops made them delete the image from their digital camera, but someone else made a separate recording of the incident and “irresponsibly published it to the Internet,” the statement says.
“It bears emphasizing that we informed them that it is totally prohibited to take photos of this magnitude,” the police report says.

In another photo circulating online, a bearded and dreadlocked Israeli by the name of Amichay Rab poses before the postcard image of the Incan ruins, a bent leg shielding his penis from view. The photo appears on his blog “My Naked Trip,” which features images of Rab being naked across Latin America.

Cambodia’s Angkor Archeological Park is beautiful, tranquil and, according to a CNN report, a place that motivates tourists to rip their clothes off.

APSARA’s Kerya Chau Sun states: “It’s an offense to the culture of others, regardless of religion. As a Cambodian, it’s hurtful to my belief, and especially to the poor Cambodians saving up money to be able to come across the country to pray at Angkor. Angkor is a sacred site for all Cambodians and practicing Buddhists, worldwide.”
Wong reminds that tourists are quite fond of naked photography around the world: “Early last year, Peru officials deployed similar measures after a chain of “naked tourism” incidents at Machu Picchu, also a World Heritage Site. They detained four American tourists, two Canadians and two Australians for stripping down for pictures at the site.”
