—–
There are two parts in this post:
Today: 1. How to get to the Departure Gates (domestic and international).
Tomorrow: 2. KLIA2 as a large supermarket and what there is to see or do if you have time.

1. How to get to the Departure Gates (domestic and international).
THE PLACE IS HUGE BUT IT’S EASY! Just make sure you have lots of time for walking.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE BY BUS, in my case, from Ipoh, you are dropped off at Pintu (Door) 1, Level 1.
Go right in.
Turn right and you see this long stretch ahead of you.
On the left, in at least two places, are these signs lit in blue. They have information of flight numbers and times.
Go to the lifts that you can easily see. Go Level 2. Once there, read and follow the signs all the way to the Departure Gates.
HOWEVER, I’m early and inquisitive, so I walk to the end of Level 1 and follow the signs.
I get to the end but avoid going into the New Zealand Curry House.
Instead, I veer left and go up an escalator to Level 2. At the top of the escalator, there is a brightly lit sign.
Just follow the signs and directions.
Now, I walk through the open entrance.
I walk to the Customer Information Centre.
As I get nearer, I see a sign on my left. The arrow points left for J K and straight ahead for L P Q.
I go nearer and look. I’m going to Kuching, Sarawak and that means the Domestic Departure Gates, J and K.
That is confirmed by another sign farther along.
Next, I check on the Gate I want. The flight number is AK 5202 and my destination is Kuching, so it’s Gate J13.
I am early, much too early. It’s only 4.30am and boarding time is 6.45am. I have a lot of time to walk around and take photos.
International Departures are through this gate. Get your Boarding Pass and International Passport ready.
Domestic Departures are through this gate. You will need your Boarding Pass and your Mykad.
…
2. KLIA2 as a large supermarket and what there is to see or do if you have time.
This is helpful.
These are shut down. You are supposed to have got your boarding pass at home or at the office.
