Restaurants linked to Wanita Umno head Shahrizat close shop
January 10, 2014
A chain of restaurants linked to the family of Wanita Umno head Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil (pic) have ceased operations.
Meatworks Corp Sdn Bhd has closed its two restaurants in Citta Mall in Petaling Jaya and Solaris Mont Kiara in Kuala Lumpur, Focus Malaysia reported today
Sharizat’s family had been embroiled in the National Feedlot Corp scandal.
Two years ago, at the height of the NFC controversy, three restaurants in Singapore owned by the family were also shut.
Singapore’s the Straits Times daily reported then that Meatworks, Brawn Steakhouse and Brazilian churrascaria Senor Santos ceased business at various top-end locations on the island.

Shahrizat’s family should be probed for money-laundering, says Rafizi
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — Putrajaya should investigate the family of former Cabinet minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil’s family for money-laundering when conducting cash transfers between companies controlled by them, says PKR’s Rafizi Ramli.
Shahrizat’s family are the directors of National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp), the company that was granted a RM250 million federal loan for cattle farming purposes.
“Today we show one transaction involving companies controlled by Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil’s family in Malaysia and Singapore that we suspect carried out money transfers that are against the mandate and intention of NFC,” Rafizi told a press conference here.

Shahrizat family’s eateries in Singapore bite the dust
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — Three restaurants in Singapore owned by the scandal-hit family of Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil have reportedly closed, appearing to mark the family’s exit from the island republic.
The Singapore Straits Times reported that the restaurants – Meatworks, Brawn Steakhouse and Brazilian churrascaria Senor Santos — have served their final customers and comes after the family’s supermarket chain Farmhouse Supermarkets had their lease cancelled by Rochester Mall in Buena Vista.
The daily reported that Meatworks shut its doors in the high-end ION Orchard mall for the last time on September 4 and Brawn Steakhouse in the city’s swanky new Marina Bay central business district closed down in the third week of July, with a year left on its lease and will be replaced by pub-and-eatery Erwin’s Gastrobar.
