Yesterday the police raided three offices of former Perak menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin in Ipoh, Bukit Gantang and Pasir Panjang, believed to be related to his earlier remark on the Johor sultan’s purchase of the ‘WWW1′ car number-plate.
Malay daily Sinar Harian reported that the operation began at around 11.30am concurrently at Perak PAS headquarters located in Ipoh, the service centre of the Bukit Gantang MP in Taiping, and the service centre of the Pasir Panjang assemblyperson in Lumut.
Nizar, who is MP for Bukit Gantang and state assemblyperson for Pasir Panjang, was attending the Parliament meeting in Kuala Lumpur when the raid took place.
The police also came to his house in Sungai Rokam, Ipoh, but no raid was conducted as Nizar was not around.
Perak PAS spokesperson Safarizal Saleh told Sinar Harian that the police had obtained a search warrant from the court to search for evidence at the three premises.
However, he said the raid was quite a surprise because no prior notice was given.

After offering an apology for perceived criticism of the Johor sultan’s RM520,000 bid for the WWW 1 car number, Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin now says his comments were “heavily influenced” by tabloid Kosmo!
The former Perak menteri besar told reporters in Parliament today that the Malay language daily, which is wholly-owned by Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Bhd, had been playing up the issue since early April.
“Kosmo! has been following up on the bid for the number plate and in one of its reports on May 25, there were infographics stating that the RM520,000 could have been used to purchase a three-storey house in Bangi, Selangor, or a BMW, or a shoplot in a business district in Shah Alam or 2.777kg of 916-certified gold,” Nizar said.
“My tweets were misrepresented as criticism of the sultan, when the tweets were not directed at anyone in particular. Kosmo! said RM520,000 can be used to buy a three-storey house, I said it could be used to build 20 houses under the low-cost housing scheme.”
Nevertheless, Nizar said he has requested for an audience with Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar to “apologise” and to explain his tweet in person.
The outburst came after Sultan Ibrahim had placed the RM520,000 bid and reportedly beat 10,000 other bidders for the car registration number.

MCA man Liow Tiong Lai has “given up” on WWW15, forced by bad publicity to to do. He can only blame his own duplicity and incompetence and his fellow MCA leaders’ duplicity and incompetence for this outcome. (See Liow gives up WWW15 | theSundaily www.thesundaily.my/news/404474).
An ex Mentri Besar is under police investigation for his twitter message in relation to another WWW number plate. The outcome of that remains unclear but things don’t look good. Nazri paying for WWW 97 number plate
KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz said he will pay for the WWW 97 car registration number and it will be used for his personal car, the Sin Chew Daily reported today.
The Road Transport Department (RTD) list of successful tenders shows that the winning bid for WWW 97 under Nazri’s name was RM10,010.
Nazri told reporters yesterday that he would be paying for the number out of his own pocket.
“I have a lot of money, how to spend the money? As a minister, RM10,000 is not much; it’s not RM400,000 or RM100,000, that will be too much,” the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department was quoted as saying by the Chinese daily.

It is sad that recently the government has just announced our meagre minimum wage requirement of RM900 per month, yet at the same time WWW1 license plate was bought for an ridiculous sum of RM520,000.
Imagine if one earns RM900 a month, that license plate price will equals to 48 years in salary terms.
While I guess it is fair that private citizens spend their money whichever way they like, it is rather inconsiderate for government servants (yes, servants) like Health Minister Liow Tong Lai and Minister in Prime Minister’s Office Nazri Aziz, who are amongst those who are paying exorbitant price just for a license plate.
What does that say about our country?

In Malaysia, our leaders and rulers who spend cannot be criticized. In fact even if you have misappropriated millions one can still travel and enjoy life without any restrictions. That is because GOD is closer to them than to the needy, while the LAW is just around us,the ordinary!
