KUALA LUMPUR: Store assistant Danial Abdullah Tan, 31, or “Abang Botak” as described by Netizens, has been granted temporary release from serving his 12 month jail sentence.

This follows the Petaling Jaya Magistrate Court allowing the application to postpone his sentence last Friday.

The decision was made by Magistrate Nur Shahira Abdul Salim who also fixed RM6,000 as bail.

The court also ordered Danial to report to the nearest police station twice a month.

Danial filed an application to review his sentence at the Shah Alam High Court registrar office on June 3.

On May 31, the court sentenced him to 12 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to the offence of causing mischief.

PETALING JAYA: ‘Abang Botak’, the motorcyclist who smashed the windscreen of a car, will spend Hari Raya Aidilfitri behind bars after he was sentenced to 12 months’ jail today.

Magistrate Nurshahira Abdul Salim meted out the sentence against Danial Abdullah Tan after he pleaded guilty to the offence of causing mischief.

The 31-year-old store assistant was charged with causing mischief to a Perodua Alza belonging to Siew Chean Voon, 58, by smashing the windscreen with a crash helmet at Jalan Kasturi, Seksyen 12, Taman Bukit Serdang at 5.30pm on Tuesday.

The offence falls under Section 427 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of maximum five years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

When asked by the court of his action, Danial claimed that the car had nearly hit him twice which led him to confront the driver.

“However, he flipped his finger,” he said, adding that he was remorseful of his action.

KUALA LUMPUR: Helmet wielding motorcyclist suspected of smashing the windscreen of a car was picked up by cops at 3pm today, Serdang Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ismadi Borhan confirms.

He said the man’s motorcycle and helmet were also seized during the arrest.

A request for remand would be made under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code at the Petaling Jaya Court.

“Further investigations will be carried out,” he added.

Ismadi said the man, in his 30s, works as a factory store assistant in Balakong.

Dubbed “Abang Botak” by Netizens, the motorcyclist was caught on camera slamming his helmet into the windscreen of a Perodua Axia.

A 2-minute clip recorded by the Axia’s dashcam saw the suspect and a friend having a conversation while still riding their motorcycles on the road.

Ismadi earlier said the driver of the Axia, a 22-year-old cake shop worker, was driving when two men riding motorcycles appeared to be hogging the lane.

He said it was believed that the motorcyclists were unsatisfied with the driver for honking at them.

The clip went viral since it was shared on Twitter by @999Malaysia last night.
