Suspicious item reported along Penang Road found to be toy resembling a grenade: Police
SINGAPORE – Police had to temporarily close off a road near the Istana Park on Friday (Nov 3) afternoon, when a suspicious item resembling a hand grenade was found along Penang Road.
In a scare lasting around an hour, the police sealed off the surroundings at the junction of Penang Road and Penang Lane, near the Singapore Shopping Centre, while officers examined the object.
It was later found that the object is a toy resembling a grenade.

Police investigating grenade-shaped object near Istana grounds
The Singapore Police Force has urged members of the public to avoid the Penang Road area, near the Istana, as they investigate a grenade-shaped object found there.
In a Facebook post today at 4.15pm, the police said that a “suspicious item” is being investigated near the Istana grounds:
“Case of Suspicious Item Found
“The Police are currently attending to a case of a suspicious item reported along Penang Road. Please avoid the area.
“Members of the public are advised not to speculate on the cases. Updates will follow.”
