Gambling den robbers are siblings

KUALA LUMPUR: The two suspects in the robbery of an illegal gambling den in Bandar Kinrara and the rape of its employee are brothers.
The siblings – one of whom died while evading arrest – are believed to be responsible for similar robberies in Selangor.
A woman involved in the case had come forward and identified the first suspect, the 26-year-old elder brother who is currently in police custody.
His 21-year-old brother died after falling from the 12th floor of an apartment block in Taman Setapak Jaya on Thursday night while trying to evade the police.

Suspect in Puchong rape/robbery case falls to his death in attempt to flee police

KUALA LUMPUR: A man, believed to be the second suspect in a Puchong rape and robbery case caught on video, died in his bid to flee the police yesterday.
The 21-year-old man fell 12 floors to his death at a flat at the PPR Seri Semarak, last night.
Earlier, police had received a tip-off on the suspect’s whereabouts. A team formed by the Selangor and Serdang Criminal Investigation Department visited the flat at 10.10pm.
Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said despite repeated instructions by police to open the door, the flat’s occupant was unresponsive.
This prompted police to force their way into the unit. A man and a woman were in the living area.
“However, the team heard noises coming from the kitchen. Upon checking, they found that the suspect was clinging on to the kitchen grill outside the flat,” said Megat.
He said the suspect was believed to be trying to flee by climbing down to another floor.
“The team tried to persuade him to just come in, but he refused.
“The man suddenly lost his grip on the grill and fell.”
Policemen rushed down to the ground floor and found the man in bad shape following the fall.
“He was alive, but in poor condition,” said Megat.
An ambulance arrived 30 minutes later and rushed the suspect to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
He died at the hospital

Victim in robbery-cum-rape case lodges police report

PETALING JAYA: The 33-year-old Indonesian who was allegedly gang-raped by two men at an illegal gambling den in Puchong, has lodged a police report about the incident.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias was reported by The Sun Daily as saying the victim lodged the report at the Serdang district police headquarters at 6pm on Tuesday.
“The victim, an Indonesian was hiding in her acquaintance’s home all the while as her passport and personal documents were stolen by the suspects,” the daily quoted him as saying in a press conference at the district police headquarters today.
A Bangladeshi national, who was also at the gambling den when the alleged rape and robbery took place last Thursday, lodged a police report yesterday about the incident.
The owner of the gambling den meanwhile lodged a police report on Saturday and confirmed that the crime took place at his premises.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — How could the police not know that an illegal gambling den was operating just a kilometre away from the district police headquarters in Sepang?
Although the true nature of the so-called cyber cafe was exposed when security camera footage of a woman being raped went viral on social media, residents in the area were surprised police did not know about its illegal activities.
A 30-year-old contractor said he was baffled the police were in the dark about the illegal gambling den, although the shop was just a short distance from their headquarters.
“True, it might not have raised suspicions initially, but wouldn’t police take notice or know of new premises such as this operating in the area?” he said, requesting anonymity.
He said the outlet could have caused youngsters to play truant as there were several schools nearby.

Bandar Kinrara rape suspect caught, tested positive for drugs

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — Police have arrested a 26-year-old suspect involved in the robbery-cum-rape in Bandar Kinrara in Sepang last Thursday.
Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said the suspect was arrested in his home in Kuala Selangor on Saturday, and tested positive for syabu.
The suspect, who has two drug-related records, has been remanded until Saturday.
Police are hunting for the second suspect.
Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said the Indonesian woman who was allegedly raped had not come forward.
Police are tracking her whereabouts, and also that of a Bangladeshi national who was in the outlet during the incident at about 11am.

SERDANG: Police have arrested one of the men allegedly involved in a robbery and rape case at an illegal gambling den in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said the man was arrested at his house in Kuala Selangor yesterday.
“A team of policemen were deployed to the house at about 5.30pm and the man was arrested.
“We are tracking down another man believed to be involved in the case,” he said.
Megat said the 26-year-old man arrested tested positive for methamphetamine.
He has been remanded for a week until May 20 to facilitate investigation.
Megat said to date, the victim has not come forward, which is hampering the investigation.
“The victim disappeared after the incident, and there are no reports lodged.
“Efforts are being made to trace the victim and a Bangladeshi who was also at the premises,” he said.

“We have also identified the crime scene and will continue our investigations.”
Megat Mohamad confirmed that the owner had lodged a police report over the incident at 4.30pm on Saturday.

Cops at wit’s end over ‘rape’ captured on video

KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — What seemed like a double rape recorded over CCTV at an illegal electronic gaming outlet in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong Jaya, near here has left cops baffled as the victim has yet to lodge a report of the alleged incident on Friday.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the authenticity of the video recording which has since gone viral.
Investigators have appealed to the victim to come forward, and those with information to contact the nearest police station.
Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohammad Aminudin Megat Alias said he had yet to receive a report about the incident, hence it was too early to establish if it was really a robbery and rape.

Cops initiate investigations as video of rape and robbery at gambling outlet goes viral

PETALING JAYA: Police have initiated an investigation into a viral video of a rape and robbery incident which allegedly took place in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong.
In the incident, two unidentified men entered a premise which looks like an illegal gambling outlet with the intention to rob the outlet.
After robbing the place, the duo also took turns to sexually assault the cashier in a hidden corner of the outlet.
Closed-circuit Television Video (CCTV) footage of them taking turns forcing themselves on the victim has went viral along with photos of the alleged suspects.
The four-minute video prompted netizens to call on authorities to punish the suspects for their crime.
Serdang district police chief ACP Mohd Megat Mohammad Aminudin Megat Alias said he has yet to receive a report of the incident.
“We will look into the authenticity of the video,” he said.
Mohd Megat said a taskforce has also been set up to identify the victims, suspects and the scene where the incident took place.
“We hope the victim and the owner of the outlet will come forward to help with our investigations,” he said.
