Selangor contributed nearly half of new jobs in Malaysia from 2014-2016
.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 ― Selangor’s 305,300 new jobs from 2014 to 2016 represented nearly half of Malaysia’s total employment gains from the period, official data by the Department of Statistics showed.

In a statement quoting the figures, the Selangor government pointed out that in the two years, employment in Selangor rose from 2,912,300 jobs in 2014 to 3,217,600 in 2016.

“Over the same period, employment in Malaysia as a whole rose by 631,600 jobs, meaning that Selangor’s employment growth of 305,300 jobs represented nearly half, or 48.3 per cent, of Malaysia’s total employment gains between 2014 and 2016,” Yin Shao Loong, strategic communications director from the Selangor Mentri Besar’s Office said.

The statement added that under MB Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s leadership, women and highly-skilled workers have fared better in Selangor compared to Malaysia as a whole.
.
Highly-skilled employment in Selangor increased by over 16 per cent from 2014 to 2016, compared to a national gain of 13.5 per cent over the same period, based on official data.

Will the Opposition regain its sanity and realize that only co-operation among all 4 parties (PKR, DAP, PAS and Bersatu) will lead to victory in Selangor in GE 14?

The Selangor State Government is formed by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) a coalition of 3 parties: PKR, DAP and PAS. PR has 44 seats to BN’s 12.

This is the breakdown of seats.
PKR    14 seats
DAP   15 seats
PAS    15 seats
BN      12 seats

Currently, even if PAS left PR and joined BN, PR (29 seats) would retain majority control and remain the State Government because BN-PAS would have 27 seats.

The worry is over GE 14. Would Pakatan Harapan (PKR, DAP and Bersatu) retain control of Selangor State.

On the negative side, could PKR retain all its 14 seats in a 3-corner fight with BN and PAS? The same could be asked of DAP in a 3-corner fight with BN and PAS.

On the positive side, the entry of Bersatu could erode support for UMNO, and UMNO could lose marginal seats to PAS and BN.

We wait for GE 14 with bated breath…

The Selangor ruler praised the leadership of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, describing the PKR leader’s policies as consistent with the needs of the state and its people.

The state controlled by PKR, DAP and PAS continues to lead in contribution to the national economy, totalling at 26.6 per cent of GDP for 2015, larger than the federal capital city Kuala Lumpur which stood at 15 per cent.

SHAH ALAM – Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said today he wants a stable state government that does not engage in polemics and divisive politics.

In his opening address of the first state legislative assembly meeting this year, he said the state government’s focus should be on delivering economic and social prosperity to its people.

“Before I end my speech, I would like to state that politics should not only be about attaining power,” he said.

“Politics in its truest definition is meant as a platform to deliver good governance to develop the state.

“As for this I want the state government to be stable and continue to put forward pro-people agendas so as to stay above polemics and parochial politics,” he added.

In that sense, the Selangor ruler praised the leadership of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, describing the PKR leader’s policies as consistent with the needs of the state and its people.

“I would like to say that I am fond of the leadership of my mentri besar who continues to produce policies that are pro-people,” he said.

The state controlled by PKR, DAP and PAS continues to lead in contribution to the national economy, totalling at 26.6 per cent of GDP for 2015, larger than the federal capital city Kuala Lumpur which stood at 15 per cent.

Selangor is also at the forefront in welfare policies compared to other states.

Until today, it continues to provide free water to poor households and recently, Azmin announced a healthcare fund for lower-income earners.

Last year, Selangor’s cash reserve grew to RM3.9 billion from RM3.26 billion the previous year, making it possible for the Azmin administration to table a RM3.4 billion budget for 2017, the biggest in the state history.

Sultan Sharafuddin said he was happy with the state’s development and progress, and urged the state government to continue the momentum.
