SINGAPORE, March 10 ― Two Indonesian men were caught at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport recently for attempting to fly to Singapore by hiding in the wheel well of an aircraft, Indonesian media report.

However, they were apprehended before they could carry out their plan.

According to Indonesia daily Harian Warta Kota yesterday, the two men had snuck into the airport’s apron by crawling under the airport’s perimeter fence. They then proceeded to hide in a Turkish Airlines container, where they were found by airport security staff.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport spokesman Dewandono Prasetyo said the two men, aged 17 and 20, later admitted that they had infilitrated the airport’s tarmac in order to stow away aboard a plane to Singapore.

“They planned to fly by riding the plane’s (wheel well),” Dewandono said.
