IGP: Special task force formed as shooting cases increase

PUTRAJAYA: The police have formed a special task force to deal with the rising number of shooting cases nationwide, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said the task force would investigate the recent spate of shootings and track down those responsible for the attacks.

“I have said before that these are not random shootings. Give us some time to investigate.

“The perpetrators are not having fun going around shooting here, shooting there. There is a reason (why the shootings happened),” he told reporters after attending Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s Hari Raya open house event here today.

He said a team dedicated to handling shooting cases existed, but a special task force was formed to ensure the “criminal elements” involved are hunted down and apprehended.
