Citing jealousy, police dismiss claims Wangsa Walk brawl racially motivated
PETALING JAYA, July 22 — Ten more people have been arrested by police in connection with Monday evening’s brawl between two groups in Wangsa Maju.

The fight reportedly involved the use of metal rods, wooden sticks, helmets and even a motorcycle fork-lock s. Mall security notified police, who arrived at the scene and quickly restored order They arrested 11 male suspects aged 15 to 29.
The clash saw five people injured with one even suffering a broken neck.
The five were sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment. Four have been discharged.
“Those caught will be remanded until July 24. We would like to clarify this fight happened out of jealousy and was not racially motivated,” said Wangsa Maju Police chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi.
“Anyone caught spreading false information will be apprehended.”
He said police will also look at footages from the mall’s closed-circuit televisions to identify other suspects.

10 more arrested over Wangsa Maju Mall brawl
KUALA LUMPUR: Another 10 suspects have been arrested in connection with a clash between two groups of teenagers at Wangsa Maju Mall in Setapak.
The fight occurred after a teenage boy confronted another for dating his 14-year-old sister.
It is learnt the boy had gone out for a date with the girl without her brother’s permission.
The furious brother then brought several friends to the mall and confronted the couple and the fight broke out
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohd Roy Suhaimi Sarif said another 10 people have been arrested in connection with case.
“In total we have remanded 21 people to help with investigations.
“We have classified the case as rioting with weapons,” he said adding that the suspects would be remanded until July 24.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 — Five teenagers were injured, two seriously, while 11 others were detained by police after two groups of Malay teenagers clashed at the Wangsa Walk Shopping Mall, here tonight.
Wangsa Maju police chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said all the individuals, including a 15-year-old teenage girl, were detained after the 9pm incident. “
It was a clash among teenagers from Desa Rejang and Ulu Kelang because the brother of a teenage girl had tried to end the relationship between his sister and her boyfriend.

Teenage date leads to brawl at mall, five injured
KUALA LUMPUR: When a boy confronted another for dating his 14-year-old sister, all hell can break loose. At the Wangsa Maju mall in Setapak on Monday night, two groups of teenagers clashed over the forbidden love affair leaving at least five of them injured. It is learnt the boy had gone out for a date with the girl without her brother’s permission. The furious brother then brought several friends to the mall and confronted the couple and the fight broke out. A staff at the mall said the fight on the ground floor took place after two groups of about 40 youths came from the upper floors.
