Umno-linked site dubs news portal reporter ‘Cina paling kurang ajar’
…
KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 — A pro-Umno website yesterday labelled a Malaysiakini reporter as “Cina paling kurang ajar (most uncouth Chinese)” for asking the prime minister about a corruption scandal during Putrajaya’s Hari Raya open house.
According to an editor of the mykmu.net website, reporter Kow Gah Chie demonstrated a lack of manners by pressing Datuk Seri Najib Razak on claims that he received US$700 million (RM2.6 million) in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds, when she was covering the open house at Seri Perdana on Friday.
Malaysiakini had published a report by Kow on the topic, titling the article “1MDB funds in your account — PM clams up”.
“Is it appropriate for a reporter to attend the open house event by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak on the first day of Hari Raya and ask questions as though he is corrupt?
“You come to someone’s house on hari raya and try to belittle the host? What kind of person are you? No courtesy, no manners, and even lacking in your command of Malay.
“The most rude and ill-mannered person in Malaysia today is none other than Kow Gah Chie. You not only embarrass the Chinese race, but the whole of Malaysia,” the editor wrote using the pseudonym of KuntaKinte Malaysia.

‘1MDB funds in your account’ – PM clams up
Prime Minister Najib Razak today refused to answer media queries on the allegation that RM2.6 billion of 1MDB’s funds went into his personal bank accounts or whether it was used for general election purposes.
Met by reporters at his Hari Raya open house in Putrajaya, he refused to respond to questions asked in relation to 1MDB. He was asked to comment on the report by The Wall Street Journal said the 1MDB money was traced to two AmBank savings accounts under his name. The accounts have since been closed.
Najib, clad in a chic, pinkish-beige baju Melayu and matching songkok, merely looked at the journalist concerned and remained silent.
Previously, the prime minister had denied taking public funds for personal gain but did not specifically addressed if the money was deposited into his personal bank accounts.
Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who also attended the open house, refused to comment on the matter. “No questions,” he said, while waving his palm at reporters.
