More JB-Woodlands shuttle train trips from tomorrow http://str.sg/ZV36

There will be more frequent trains for Shuttle Tebrau, the train service between Johor Baru (JB) and Woodlands.
From tomorrow, the number will be increased from 14 to 22 trips daily, said Malaysian rail operator Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM).
There will be 12 trips from JB Sentral into Woodlands and 10 trips in the opposite direction every day.
The move is aimed at easing congestion along the Causeway.
The shuttle, which started operations in July last year, takes five minutes to travel between JB and Woodlands. Each trip, costing RM5 (S$1.80) from JB and $5 from Woodlands, caters to about 320 passengers. It is not known how many commuters use the shuttle daily.
The Shuttle Tebrau is popular among workers and students commuting from Malaysia into Singapore, providing a speedier alternative to buses. Buses can take more than two hours to cross the checkpoints due to queues, Customs clearance and traffic jams.

…
BATU PAHAT – There are plans to increase the frequency and capacity of the Tebrau Shuttle in an effort to reduce the growing number of vehicles commuting between Malaysia and Singapore via the Causeway.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi said the Government was in the midst of increasing the train service’s rolling stops to ferry more passengers to and fro between JB Sentral and Woodlands Station in Singapore.
“We are in the midst of planning and identifying the suitable number of trips and passenger capacity that should be increased to accommodate the demands.
“The additional services are expected to commence next year,” he told reporters during the Johor state-level Jom JPJ programme in Parit Yaani yesterday.

Woodlands to JB in 5 mins: New train service slashes travel time for travellers http://ebx.sh/1CjGt4c

By RONALD LOH From Johor Baru
A journey to or from Johor Baru for a weekend shopping trip can take up to two hours by bus.
But over the last weekend, that arduous journey to and back from JB Sentral was reduced to a mere five minutes.
This is thanks to a new shuttle train service that began operations on Wednesday.
On Saturday, The New Paper took a trip to Johor Baru and we found the shuttle service to be hugely popular with the weekend shopping warriors.
Most commuters who TNP spoke to said they were excited about the long-term travelling convenience and efficiency.

I took Shuttle Tebrau on Wednesday, and it was quite the experience!
Find out more at: http://chiennn.blogspot.sg/2015/07/singapore-to-jb-train-shuttle-tebrau.html
Next trip, take some photos. Is it air-conditioned? Enough seats?
KTMB trains are air conditioned, as they offer 1st and 2nd class seating for express routes, and routes on the West Coast. Only on the East Coast, on some of their shuttle trains in Kelantan do they offer non-air conditioned coaches to cater to rural / kampong folk
Thank you, friend!
Each 2nd class coach is configured to seat 60 or 74 people. This shuttle service has 4 coaches, and seats 268 people maximum (2 coaches @ 60 + 2 coaches @ 74). But given that this is a 5 minute ride, they allow for some standing. Maximum number of tickets they will sell per trip is 320. Meaning, 46 people will need to stand if the train is at full capacity, or roughly 11 per coach
do pardon my maths…52 standing, not 46

Thanks!
