Hisham says Ismail Sabri-Islamic State comparison taken out of context
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein defended today his comparison of the Islamic State’s (IS) terror attacks to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri’s jibe against Chinese traders, insisting that his remarks did not mean he condones racism.
On his Facebook page, the defence minister said he condemns both terrorism and racism, and that his words had been misinterpreted by those with certain agendas.
“Let us be clear, I am not naive to link Islamic State (IS) with the price of items and the issue regarding DS Ismail Sabri. I have been and am very consistent in condemning both acts of terrorism and racism,” he wrote.
“My remarks were taken out of context as I was elaborating on my keynote address which focused on youth radicalisation and the challenges to national security.
The people trying to prolong the matter are doing so for obvious reasons and agenda,” the minister added.

Fake Twitter account impersonates Umno MP, says Isis better than Chinese
Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin has denied tweeting that the terror group Isis was “better than some Chinese”, saying that he had fallen prey to an impersonator.
The reference to Isis, or the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq, follows an Umno minister’s remarks earlier today which compared the militant group to a call by another Umno MP to boycott Chinese businesses.
Bung, an Umno MP from Sabah, tweets at @MyKinabatangan and his Twitter profile carries his full name – Bung Mokhtar Radin – whereas the handle of the parody account is @mpkinabatangan and only carries the name “Bung”.
“That is not my account. That is a fake account posing as mine. My real account is @MyKinabatangan,” he told The Malaysian Insider which contacted him to verify if the tweet was his.
“Bung” tweeted: “Isis is better than some Chinese” earlier today, and had also tagged Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, whose handle is @ismailsabri60.
Ismail, an Umno MP, is under fire for his call on Malays to boycott Chinese businesses as a way to bring the prices of goods down.

The reference to Isis in “Bung’s” tweet follows a remark by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who earlier today said Ismail’s rant against Chinese traders was not as bad as what Isis had done to a Jordanian pilot whom the terror group had held hostage.

‘Nonsense’ to compare Ismail Sabri’s remarks with IS, says DAP man
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 — Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein completely missed the point when he compared allegedly racially-tinged comments by a Cabinet colleague with the Islamic State (IS) militant group, a DAP lawmaker said today.
Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said there was no way the atrocities committed by the terrorist organisation could be seen in the same light as Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s call for Malays to boycott Chinese businesses.
“What is Hishammuddin’s motive for saying that? Does he want to see a Chinese trader burned alive like what the IS did to a Jordanian pilot recently before he criticises Ismail Sabri’s racist statement?” Lim said in a statement.
Earlier today, Hishammuddin — who is defence minister — said Ismail Sabri’s recent jibe against Chinese traders was nowhere as bad as what the IS have done.
“If you want to talk about moderation, I think the IS burning of the Jordanian pilot is far worse than this case involving Ismail Sabri,” he said, adding that the whole issue has been “blown out of proportion”.
