When the Chinaman (唐山阿叔) goes abroad…

PEOPLE FROM CHINA, THE LAND OF MY ANCESTORS, USED TO BE CALLED TONG SAN AH SOOK (唐山阿叔), WHICH MEANS UNCLE FROM SUGAR MOUNTAIN.

It meant someone from the rural areas, a village bumpkin.

In reality, many Chinese from China are educated and sophisticated. I am privileged to have taught many of them, and to have become friends with them.

However, the Chinaman seems to represent China to many of us!

Chinese tourists attack immigration officers at klia2

zdf.jpg

The two Immigration officers were pushed and punched for telling duo to wait at the men’s ‘holding area’.

PETALING JAYA: Two immigration officers were attacked by foreigners who were not allowed to land at klia2 in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

In the 12.30am incident, Muhammad Firdaus and Mohd Sahlan, who were on duty, noticed two male Chinese nationals waiting in the female holding area designated for those who have been issued a “Not To Land” (NTL) notice, along with a female Chinese tourist.

The immigration officers told the men, aged 28 and 30, to leave the woman, aged 33, and go to the waiting area for men.

However, they refused and raised their voices and reacted aggressively.

“Suddenly, one of them pushed and punched Muhammad Firdaus’ chest. The other Chinese national punched and wrestled with Mohd Sahlan,” the Immigration Department said in a statement today.

The officers, aged 28 and 30, suffered light injuries, including bruises.

Other immigration officers rushed to their colleagues’ aid and stopped the scuffle, it said.

The two officers lodged a police report.

“The three tourists of Chinese nationality were then sent back (to China) and they will be blacklisted from entering Malaysia,” the department said.

All three were issued an NTL notice according to Section 8(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering the country in a suspicious manner and for not following the conditions of entry.

Those issued with such notices cannot enter the country, the statement added.

A Chinese man was escorted off a plane by Thai police on Wednesday after opening an emergency exit as his flight bound for central China was preparing to take off from Bangkok, according to a Chinese newspaper.

Thai Lion Air flight SL940 was scheduled to leave Don Mueang Airport for Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, at 6.55pm but the incident caused its take-off to be delayed until 8.47pm, according to Flightview.com.

According to a witness, the man reached for the handle of the emergency exit and pulled it downwards, Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on Friday.

Shocked passengers shouted at him and a member of the cabin crew ran to the scene, the report said.

The witness was quoted as saying that the man seemed frightened and kept apologising to the flight attendant, saying he did not know he was not supposed to open the door.

Another passenger was quoted as saying that police officers boarded the aircraft and took the man and his luggage off.

Three Chinese university students sparked outrage on social media after leaving an Airbnb apartment they rented in Japan in an utter mess. The host who has shocked by the state they left his apartment in, shared several pictures of how chaotic his home looked. The pictures showed piles of trash, dirty utensils and misplaced objects after the students rented it for a five-day period from September 5 – 10.

The students were not remorseful for their actions and argued that they had paid for their stay and that it was not their apartment to clean. “We spent money for a place to live, not to clean. This isn’t my home, I don’t have to tidy up for you,” one student said.

Another claimed that they trashed the apartment as they could not find trash bins in the home at the time of check-in. The host however, shared a photo of three waste bins situated on the balcony of the apartment.

The students only sought forgiveness after their mess went viral and netizens took them to task for it. They said: “We just want to be forgiven. Maybe it’s too late, maybe we deserve this, but sorry, we just want to do our part.”

The host however, did not accept the “apology” and said: “It’s hard to accept this kind of apology. If I’m the one who apologizes, it means I’m saying that they’re telling the truth.”

All the details you need on the Chinese tourists who were ”brutally” handled by Swedish police

zzzchina.jpg

In the past few days, a case where Swedish police removed a Chinese family of three from a Stockholm hotel has made headlines around the world and created a diplomatic row between the two countries.

A lot of rumours are flying around, so I decided to try to clarify some of the most important details by summing up some reporting and information from my native Sweden.

First a brief background: The family surnamed Zeng arrived to Generator Hostel some time before midnight, despite only having a booking starting from the following day of September 2. Upon arrival, the family demanded to spend the night in the lobby, a request that the staff did not want to accommodate.

Despite being told to numerous times, the family refused to leave the lobby and installed themselves in the sofas. After a couple of hours the situation became ”threatening” according to the staff, who decided to call on police to remove the family from the lobby.

The drama increased further with the arrival of the police, who the son accused of using excessive violence against his parents. ”Excessive violence” is of course in the eye of the beholder. Anyone is free to make their own judgement based on the below videos:

Chinese passenger (PhD student) slaps Air France staff over late check-in

Published on Jun 3, 2017

A woman from Wuhan missed her flight to Paris and secured a position on the Air France blacklist for repeatedly slapping an airport worker on Thursday.

A 36-year old student was late for her flight and slapped the staff. She’s since been banned by Air France:

zch.jpg

A Chinese woman who was too late to board her flight to France earlier this month was turned away at the gate, and in retaliation, slapped an airport worker three times.

According to the Daily Mail, the female passenger, identified as Zhang Dan, arrived at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport on June 1 with her husband and child after the boarding gate for Air France flight AF139 had already been closed.

An employee working at the desk told Zhang to rearrange her itinerary or request a refund for her tickets to Paris, but the passenger began berating the worker and became enraged.

Zhang, who is reportedly 36 years old and a Ph.D. student, lost her temper and walked around the desk to slap the employee three times in the head.

Police arrived at the scene a short time later and arrested Zhang for assaulting the employee. She has been given a 10-day detention by authorities, and an Air France spokesman said the passenger’s behavior was unacceptable.

10 Chinese officers go on patrols in Italy

Ten Chinese police officers are working with Italian counterparts in Italy, assisting with cases involving Chinese tourists, the Ministry of Public Security said on Tuesday.

The officers, divided into four groups, are joining Italian officers in patrols of scenic spots in Rome, Milan, Florence and Naples, to help deter crimes against Chinese tourists from June 5 to 25.

During the patrols, Italian officers will have a hotline to the Chinese officers to help Italian police deal with security issues involving Chinese tourists, the ministry said in a statement.

“Joint police patrols are an effective means to establish mutual trust. They are aimed at protecting the interests of Chinese tourists overseas, and will help expand and deepen Sino-Italian law enforcement co-operation,” said Liao Jinrong, director of the ministry’s international co-operation bureau.
.
In recent years, increasing numbers of Chinese tourists have gone to Europe, including Italy, and it’s inevitable that more cases arise in which they are targeted by criminals – theft of property or robbery, for example.

Figures from the China National Tourism Administration show that more than 800,000 Chinese and Italian tourists visited each other’s countries last year.

According to the ministry, the Chinese police don’t have law enforcement power in Italy, and during the patrols they may not carry weapons. But they can offer advice and assist in handling cases involving Chinese people.

AYER HITAM: A group of 30 tourists from China escaped unhurt after a fire erupted and completely destroyed the bus they were travelling in on the North-South Expressway.

Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Ramli Said said a team was sent to the scene near here after they received a distress call at 5.06pm Tuesday.

“The flames had already engulfed the bus when the team arrived.

“Fortunately, the driver, the tour guide and 30 passengers, all from mainland China, managed to escape unharmed,” he said in a statement.

Jeju airport tackles overwhelming trash left by Chinese tourists

.

zx

JEJU – Chinese tourists are discarding so much packaging from duty free goods at the Jeju International Airport that the airport has reinforced its cleaning team and provided the tourists with garbage bags to reduce the trash.

The waiting area at the gates for the international flights was filled with rubbish before the additional measures were taken, Korea Times reported, citing Jeju newspaper Jemin Ilbo.

The tourists pick up their duty free goods at a designated area at the departure gate before their flight.

Many of them then remove the packaging to reduce the items’ bulk before boarding the plane. Instead of throwing the plastic wrappers and boxes into designated bins, the tourists toss them on the floor.

Measures to reduce the trash involve staff from duty free shops asking the tourists to use rubbish bins and giving them garbage bags, Korea Times said.

The Korea Airports Corporation in Jeju increased the number of cleaners at the gate from two to three.

The Stomper who also witnessed what happened said that this took place around 8pm last night and that it wasn’t raining.

She added that her friend informed the airport staff who promptly got security to tell the woman to clear it.

Chinese mom lets her kid pee on the floor of imperial Russian palace

z20.jpg

Chinese tourists have earned an unenviable reputation around the world for using any flat surface as a toilet — plane cabins, subway carriages and Burberry sidewalks. Apparently, you can now add Russian palaces to that list.

According to Radio Free Asia, Russian media has recently published outraged reports of a visit made by a Chinese tour group to the lavish Catherine Palace outside of St. Petersburg back on August 2nd — a date that will live in infamy.

A date that is also more than a little fishy. According to the palace’s website, the Catherine Palace is closed on Tuesday. August 2nd was a Tuesday. Radio Free Asia, as well as various Hong Kong and Taiwan media outlets, cite a St. Petersburg TV station in their report.

As you might expect, palace staff were more than a little shocked by the incident, saying that it was likely the first time that something like this had happened in the over 250-year history of palace. Historic! Presumably, this was the worst thing to happen there since it was almost completely destroyed by the retreating German army during World War II.

Radio Free Asia reports that the incident has sparked outrage on Russian social media. More and more Chinese tourists are visiting Russians each year, and locals say they are tired of the visitors’ loud and uncivilized behavior. Despite the reported online fury, Shanghaiist has not been able to locate this story on any Russian media outlet.

Chinese tourists in Japan climb cherry trees for pictures, get ridiculed on Japanese news

Chinese tourists have once again found their way onto Japanese news, yet again it isn’t for something like saving puppies or helping old ladies.

Instead, visitors were photographed climbing Japan’s iconic cherry trees, grabbing branches and just generally causing mayhem as broken blossoms rained down from above, all in the blind pursuit of snapping some pretty pictures.

In their report, the Japanese news anchors mocked the Chinese tourists behavior as “Chinese-style flower viewing” and also recommended that a special zone be set up just for Chinese tourists, NetEase reports.

Chinese netizens online also joined in the chorus to mock and shame their countrymen:

“Our fellow compatriots are still really amazing, before they would just lose face inside the country, now they know to go abroad,” one netizen joked.

“They look a lot like public officials from Shanghai or Jiangsu,” another wrote in.

“I don’t know how you can look. I look and I feel ashamed, disgusted by this group of uncivilized bastards,” another netizen lamented.

5 Chinese gangsters use fake guns to try to steal real guns from gun store in Thailand, it ends poorly

A Chinese gang tried to pull off the crime of the century earlier today, holding up a Bangkok gun store armed only with fake guns. You’re not going to believe this, but it didn’t go down as they’d hope.

Sing Sian Daily, a Chinese-language daily in Thailand, reports that the attempted robbery took place at 10am this morning. Four of the gangsters went inside, while the ringleader waited outside.

Things started to go wrong when the gun store owner and staff opened fire with real guns, injuring two of the gang members, while the other two fled for their life. Their boss had already split by the time they got outside.

Three Chinese arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport on theft charges

BANGKOK — Three Chinese nationals were arrested at Suvarnabhumi international airport Wednesday night on theft charges for allegedly stealing from a Japanese tourist.

The arrest of the trio, identified by airport security officers as Lee Tae-fah, 52, Xu Chien-jun, 48 and Xong Kwang-su,50, followed a complaint to the airport police by Mr Hori-uchi Kasuheta.

The Japanese tourist said he arrived at the airport on Tuesday and while he was on the second floor of the airport’s arrival lounge he lost his shoulder bag containing 9,561 baht in cash an Aeon ROP credit card, an ATM card and a Thailand Club card.

Police then examined video footages at the arrival lounge taken around the time the Japanese was still there. They found three suspects who matched the descriptions given by the victim.

The police returned to the airport on Wednesday night, hoping that the three suspects were still around preying on other tourists. They found the three men and made arrests. All confessed to stealing from the Japanese.

Chinese woman charged with trying to bribe US customs officer with sex at JFK Airport

A Chinese woman was charged in a Brooklyn Court on Monday (Dec 7) for offering to have sex with a US Customs and Border Protection officer if he would allow her daughter to bring undeclared goods into the country.

The incident took place in July and Hong Yang, 55, was arrested for the customs fraud last weekend by agents from the US Department of Homeland Security.

On Monday, the court heard that Hong had made several attempts to bribe the officer at New York’s JFK International Airport after he discovered that her daughter – a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan – was in possession of wristwatches, a fur coat and diamond jewellery worth US$160,000 (S$224,540).

The duo, along with Hong’s sister, had arrived on an Air France flight from Paris.

Hong, who lives in China, initially handed the officer a written note with her nickname and telephone number, reported the New York Daily News. She then allegedly offered him US$10,000 and a wristwatch if he would turn a blind eye and allow them through.

After excusing himself briefly to don a hidden recording device, he returned – only to find that Hong, a divorcee, had a different offer for him.

This time, she offered to “sleep with him” and take him to China.

Hong was not detained at the airport and was allowed to leave, defence lawyer Robert Gottlieb said.

She was subsequently arrested last weekend when she was boarding a flight home to China, and charged in court on Monday.

WATCH: Chinese proxy buyers fight over milk powder in front of supermarket in the Netherlands

According to Kankannews, the incident took place on November 18. While its not clear exactly what brought tensions to such a boiling point, in the video the pair begin arguing with each other over the limited quantities of milk powder. After the man curses at his female counterpart, she retaliates by kicking him.

The dispute soon turns into a brawl, with the two trading blows with each other on the ground until several local residents and some Chinese friends intervened to break up the dispute.

The pair are currently being held by police as an investigation is carried out.

Following the collapse in consumer confidence after the 2008 Sanlu milk scandal, those with enough money often seek out imported baby formula. Many in Hong Kong and Australia are already familiar with the hordes of proxy buyers who travel abroad to buy up powder for sale back home. In the past few years the phenomena has begun to take hold in Europe.

Struggling to keep up with demand, Dutch retailers recently introduced rationing measures, limiting sales to one or two packs of formula per customer. Others set a minimum purchase amount on other groceries before allowing the sale of milk powder.

Three Chinese passengers were kicked off a flight in Cambodia bound for Chengdu after a very heated argument broke out on board on Monday night.

The ruckus started before the flight had taken off from Siem Reap. A man reportedly in his 60s was angered by a woman in front of him tipping her seat back too far, reports Chengdu Commercial Daily via Shanghaiist.

As the situation got even more out of hand, the French pilot finally took decisive action and asked immigration officials to escort the pair and also the man’s wife off the plane on the grounds that the trio were compromising the safety of the aircraft.

The flight was delayed by one hour as a result.

For the big supermarket chains, it’s as much about staff safety as supply.

Signs in Mandarin are now commonplace on Coles and Woolworths shelves across the country advising customers on strict limits on buying tins of infant formula.

“We’ve had some fairly ugly scenes here,” said one senior staff member at Woolworths’s Airlie Beach supermarket, located right behind the main tourist drag.

Demand for foreign infant formula has risen in China since 2008, when a Chinese infant formula was contaminated with melamine.Demand for foreign infant formula has risen in China since 2008, when a Chinese infant formula was contaminated with melamine. Photo: New York Times

“Chinese travellers can basically fund their entire stay by sending baby formula back to China. You get five or six broke backpackers being told ‘no, you can’t have 40 tins of formula’ and it can get heated at the checkout. We’ve had some incidents.”

Australia’s fastest growing infant formula brands, Bellamy’s Organic and a2 Milk, are familiar with the rationing and the heated exchanges it can sometimes create.

“I have heard that happen, both to us and the vitamin industry, where semi-riots have broken out,”Bellamy’s chief executive Laura McBain said.

“[The rationing] is there for a reason. The demand offshore, particularly from China, for our products is huge. It’s just been an incredible year as a result of that demand.”

“Even though there are issues within the China economy, the demand for infant formula won’t change and the aspirational demand around organic, and Australian made and imported products is continuing to climb.

“Mums and dad in China are the same as mums and dad everywhere in the world … they want to give their babies the very best opportunity and the very best start in life.”

The incident came to light when passengers onboard the plane complained about the disgusting act.

A flight attendant reportedly saw the child soiling the area in the back of the cabin before the plane took off, with the mother and another relative happily propping the kid up as if they were in a squat toilet.

When the mother was asked why the child didn’t use the bathroom instead, her response was:

RT : China puts tourist on blacklist for 10yrs for climbing on Red Army statue

BEIJING (CHINA DAILY/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – China has placed a man on a tourist blacklist for 10 years for climbing on top of a Red Army statue at a tourist attraction to take a photo.

The decision was made by the country’s National Tourism Administration (NTA) and announced on Tuesday.

The scenic spot, Shengli Shan (Victory Hill) in north-west China’s Shaanxi province, was excluded from star-rated ranking for the next two years, as a punishment for its poor administration.

The man, Mr Li Wenchun, climbed on top of the Red Army statue for a photo in late April. His behaviour was posted on social media sites by passers-by and was severely criticised by the public.

Four Chinese women who got into a hair-pulling, knee-high-kicking catfight on board a passenger plane cruising 7,000m above ground have been in police detention since Monday, the local media reported. The five-day custody was imposed by the police in Jiangsu province’s Nantong city, as punishment for putting the aircraft in danger with their behaviour, reported the Jiangsu-based Modern Express newspaper. The women, aged between 30 and 50 years old, were travelling from Liaoning in north-eastern China, their home province, to Shenzhen in the south on Monday on a Shenzhen Airlines flight when a heated argument broke out among them over the adjustment of seats, said the newspaper. Two of them had complained that the seats of the other two, who were younger, had encroached into their space, witnesses said.

There was a lull when the cabin crew intervened, but the older women soon started pulling the hair of the younger ones from behind their seats, added the witnesses. The younger pair then got up and retaliated by kicking and tearing at the hair of the other parties. The two sides were separated by the crew, and when the plane stopped in Nantong, the police came on board to take them away, said Modern Express. – See more at: http://travel.asiaone.com/article/news/mid-air-catfight-lands-4-women-in-soup#xtor=CS1-2

China to curb visits to Hong Kong by Shenzhen residents – NPC deputy

Published: 12:29 AM, April 12, 2015 HONG KONG – China will limit visits by residents of the city of Shenzhen to neighbouring Hong Kong, a politician and media said on Sunday, following recent tension in the former British colony over growing numbers of mainland visitors. Hong Kong has seen a groundswell of discontent over the number of mainland Chinese visiting the crowded city where frustration with what many residents see as attempts by Beijing to restrict democracy erupted in protests last year. Shenzhen authorities would soon restrict residents to one Hong Kong visit a week, from an unlimited number of daily trips, said Michael Tien, a Hong Kong member of China’s parliament, the National People’s Congress. … Media said the curbs could come into effect as early as Monday. Shenzhen is just a short train ride from Hong Kong. On the website where residents of Shenzhen apply for Hong Kong visas, the option for multiple visits a year could not be selected on Sunday. AN artist has pleaded not guilty in a Hong Kong court over allegations of assaulting a flight attendant on a Cathay Pacific flight from Singapore to Hong Kong on Dec 10 last year. The court heard this week that Lee Yuet-fung, an artist from mainland China famous for his tiger and bamboo paintings, threw a plastic cup at the flight attendant, reported the South China Morning Post (SCMP) The stewardess, Ms Lai Wing-man, said the artist did it because she was busy clearing food trays for passengers, and could not get him some water immediately, according to the SCMP.

Thai model who ranted about Chinese tourists at Jeju airport under attack

zx The Thai model who last week recorded a video in which she ranted about the behavior of Chinese tourists has since seen her Facebook page overrun by people insulting her in both Chinese and English. Since the video portraying Chinese tourists in a somewhat negative light made headlines in the mainland, new posts by Duangjai Phichitamphon on her open Facebook page attract hundreds of abusive comments left in both Chinese and English. … Hong Kong publication Passion Times speculates that those lashing out at the model are angry Chinese who have somehow circumvented Chinese internet restrictions, wumao commentators hired by the Chinese government to shape public opinion, and Blue Ribbon supporters in Hong Kong. Most of the comments follow a general theme, accusing Duangjai of being transgender, having gone through plastic surgery, or insulting Thailand for being a poor and degenerate country. For example: zc Some of the comments are incredibly scathing, like these posts from Facebook users who indicate they are from mainland China: zu zt The avalanche of comments has reached such an extent that Phichitamphon has decided to delete the video from her Facebook page. http://shanghaiist.com/2015/03/22/duangjai-phichitamphon.phpChinese tourists have been the bane of many tourism spots for their bad behaviour. 「正版翻譯」泰名人韓國機場實戰強國人 https://youtu.be/G5QTPUskwLY … Straits Times

Thai celebrity’s rant on Chinese tourists’ behaviour goes viral

Published on Mar 17, 2015 10:30 AM
A Thai celebrity’s viral video about rude Chinese tourists at the Jeju Airport in South Korea has re-ignited the debate about their behaviour. The rant in Thai by Duangjai Phichitamphon, which was posted on her Facebook on March 12, has garnered about 60,000 views on her page. It was also subtitled in English and posted on many other websites. She said that everyone was queueing up for tax refunds, but when a group of Chinese tourists came, the queue disintegrated into a mob. Phichitamphon then complained that they stomped on her feet and pushed her. The subtitles read: “I don’t understand. There were many people from other countries queuing here… Then the Chinese tour (sic) came here and it became like this.” She filmed the tourists pushing and shoving even as a male companion tried to calm her down. – See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/south-east-asia/story/thai-celebritys-rant-chinese-tourists-behaviour-goes-viral-20150317#sthash.mlfeb7Bx.dpuf

Feb 28, 2015 6:02pm At a famous temple in northern Thailand, Chinese tourists will get a toilet all to themselves, reported The Straits Times. Why? Because they have messed it up so badly that it has become unusable for everyone else, temple officials said according to German news agency DPA. Wat Rong Khun (better known as the White Temple) in Chiang Rai will be adding new toilets just for Thais and other non-Chinese tourists, DPA reported on Saturday. Temple officials said the move was to address complaints about alleged grossly inconsiderate behaviour by Chinese tourists. http://www.tnp.sg/news/dont-want-share-toilet-chinese-tourists-famous-thai-temple-build-one-everyone-else This is the temple: วัดร่องขุ่น White Temple Thailand http://youtu.be/S-KIEmmT76w — WATCH the video: Chinese couple booted off Hong Kong flight after son, 3, refused to buckle up http://youtu.be/7JX-7FmJoWQ

Mainland Chinese family ejected from flight over seatbelt dispute

PETALING JAYA: A three-year-old boy who refused to fasten his seatbelt during a Hong Kong-bound Cathay Pacific flight caused his family to be ejected from the aircraft, but not before sparking a commotion on board and delaying the flight. The Straits Times reported that the boy’s parents, a mainland Chinese couple, were urged to secure their three-year-old in his seat moments before flight CX564 was due to take-off from Bangkok at 3.15pm on Tuesday. However, the parents are said to have refused to do so and wanted the child to sit on his mother’s lap instead, prompting an argument with flight attendants. Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported a passenger by the surname Lau telling Apple Daily that the boy had refused to sit down and wear his seatbelt. A video taken by Lau showed another female passenger getting irritated with the commotion and asking the flight crew to “call the police”. She was heard telling the Chinese couple in Cantonese: “We are customers too. Why are you allowed to harass the whole flight?” The toddler’s father replied by saying they would not be “bullied” into leaving. “If others keep harassing us, we will not leave the plane,” he could be heard saying in the Putonghua dialect. The family eventually left the plane grudgingly after more airline staff intervened in the commotion. http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/02/28/Chine-flight-Cathy-Pacific/

Female tourist from airs underwear in Chiang Mai Airport’s departure lounge

Unsightly photos of a Chinese tourist hanging her wet underwear on the seats at Chiang Mai International Airport’s departure lounge have attracted widespread criticism on social media. The photos, which were believed to have been taken about two weeks ago, showed a woman using her phone as her pink bra and black panties laid next to her. A public relations officer with the airport confirmed the incident, revealing that staff approached the woman to inform her not to dry her clothes in public. No further action was taken as it did not infringe safety rules, reported Bangkok Post on Feb 2.

Chinese tourists’ visa-free entry to boost economy

The announcement of free-entry visas to visitors, including those from China, is timely not only to boost the tourism industry but also support Malaysia’s economic growth. Lim Mee Lee, managing director of MM2H Sdn Bhd, the authorised agent for Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, said the free-entry visas would support the country’s economy this year amid the challenging external environment. “It is good news not only for the tourism industry but it will also have spillover effects on its sub-sectors namely hotels, travel agents as well as retailers. “Furthermore it would encourage domestic activities thus giving support to the country’s economic growth, especially when it is going through a rough time,” he told Bernama today. http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/286892HE CLAIMS TO HAVE MADE A MISTAKE. Bad tourists – 5 things China is doing to make sure Chinese tourists behave better abroad

These are several measures they will be using to encourage tourists to behave better when they are overseas. 1) Records will be kept of tourists behaving badly The head of China’s National Tourism Administration, Li Jinzao, was reported to have said that these tourists would be noted down on record. They will be ranked on how badly they misbehave. 2) These tourists would also receive messages reminding them to act properly when they land at their destination If they still choose to disobey, they will be punished.

3) Public shaming (ie Stomp) Li has reportedly encouraged Chinese tourists to “Stomp” bad behaviour. Yes, he is asking them to take photos of video of anyone who acts in an embarrassing manner. When the evidence is passed on to the authorities, it would be publicised. 4) Bad Panda videos to show Chinese tourists what not to do abroad China’s state-run channel, China Central Television, ran an ad last year to tell tourists what not to do – like urinating in public, throwing trash.. Passengers on Beijing flight yank emergency doors open after getting angry that it was delayed

BEIJING: Chinese police detained 25 plane passengers who opened emergency exits before take-off after becoming angry that their flight was delayed by snow, state media reported, in the latest incident of rowdy behaviour by Chinese travellers. They were forced to wait in their seats for hours yesterday after their flight from the southwest city of Kunming to Beijing was delayed, Xinhua news agency said. After requesting that they be allowed off the plane for health reasons, some passengers “opened three emergency doors in an attempt to stop the flight,” forcing the plane to return to the terminal, Xinhua cited a passenger as saying. The passenger added that those on board were worried that the vice captain was unable to control himself after he “swore and cursed,” Xinhua said. The plane had already been delayed for five hours before they boarded, only to face further delays while ice was cleared from the aircraft, the report said. A total of 25 passengers were detained by airport police, though it was not clear if they had been released. Others travelled to Beijing by another flight. http://www.nst.com.my/node/69288*One man opens the emergency exit and uses the slide to get off the plane faster. *Another opens it to get some fresh air.

Only days after a Chinese couple threw boiling water at a flight attendant and threatened to blow up the plane, another case has emerged involving a Chinese passenger who has a hard time following the rules.

When China Eastern flight MU2331 from Xi’an arrived at Sanya Fenghaung International Airport in Hainan, a particularly impatient passenger decided to open an emergency exit, and in the process, deploy an emergency slide. When questioned by authorities about why he opened the door, he responded: “to get off the plane quicker.” … Aviation experts say the cost to repair and replace the opened cabin door and emergency slide is approximately RMB 100,000. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/passenger-opens-emergency-exit-and-uses-slide-%E2%80%98to-get-off-plane-faster%E2%80%99-in-hainan —————————————————————————————————————
