The FBI is looking into the recent leaking of intimate photos of celebrities.
Several images appearing to show A-list stars nude emerged on Twitter over the weekend (August 31). The stars’ iCloud accounts were allegedly hacked by an anonymous party.
The FBI said in a statement that it was “aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high-profile individuals, and is addressing the matter”.

Jennifer Lawrence nude photos leaked after alleged Apple iCloud hack; being sold in exchange for Bitcoins
Photos alleged to be that of Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence and who’s who of Hollywood have leaked on the Internet. The trove of images, many containing alleged nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other celebrities, first appeared on 4Chan with the anonymous poster claiming the photos were obtained after hacking into the iCloud accounts of celebrities. The claim remains unverified at the moment. The hacker was selling these photos in exchange for Bitcoins, which is probably the first such case.
The leak has spread across the Internet including Reddit and Twitter. The list includes numerous celebrities including Kate Upton, Victoria Justice, Jenny McCarthy apart from Jennifer Lawrence and others. The authenticity of the photos haven’t been verified though at least one celebrity, Victoria Justice, has claimed her photos to be fake.

A spokesperson for Jennifer Lawrence released a statement to BuzzFeed confirming the pictures’ authenticity.
“This is a flagrant violation of privacy,” they said in an email. “The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A who’s who of Hollywood — most of them young starlets and many of them nude — had social media buzzing Sunday reportedly after many of the performers were hacked.
Officials believe it is the largest hacking involving celebrities ever.
KCAL9’s Brittney Hopper reported that Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence is just one of a laundry list of celebrities that were hacked — reportedly through Apple’s iCloud storage system.
Apple has not commented.
Regardless of how the hacking occurred, nude photos of “The Hunger Games” and “Silver Linings Playbood” star went viral in a matter of minutes.
Lawrence’s spokesperson released a statement saying, “This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”
Nickelodeon actress and singer Victoria Justice, 21, took to Twitter and wrote, “These so called nudes of me are FAKE people.”
Singer Ariana Grande may have “99 Problems” but a rep says the pictures are not one of them. The rep said the nude photos of Grande are also fakes.
Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 29, took to Twitter to sound off on the pictures she said were deleted years ago. She confirmed the pics were legit but lambasted people for wanting to download them.
She wrote, “To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves.”
Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton was also hacked and confirmed through a rep that the photos of her were legit.

A massive quantity of nude and risqué photos that appeared to be of huge stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, and Kate Upton leaked online Sunday, first appearing on the /b/ thread on 4chan (NSFW link).
Not all of the pictures’ authenticity have been confirmed.

The pictures allegedly were retrieved due to an Apple iCloud leak that allowed celebrities’ phones to be hacked, and were posted on 4chan in an attempt to earn bitcoins.
The hacker on 4chan is also claiming to have explicit videos of Lawrence, and claims to have over 60 nude selfies of the Oscar-winning actress.
Not all of the pictures are nude — included among them are selfies of the starlet in bathing suits.
