The wife of an Australian resident found with a slashed throat in Bali allegedly ordered a hit on him, police say http://bit.ly/1sLOFli
The wife of an Australian resident found with his throat slashed and dumped in a Bali rice field is suspected of ordering a hit on him.
Noor Ellis was on Tuesday night in police custody after earlier in the day reporting her businessman husband Robert Ellis, 60, missing.
His body was found on Tuesday morning wrapped in plastic and dumped in a watery ditch at the side of a rice field, with three deep gashes in his neck.
Police initially said Mr Ellis was an Australian citizen, but now say he was a British passport holder who had lived in Australia long-term.
His Indonesian wife has been declared a suspect, while a man accused of being the killer was arrested in Padang Bai, a port in east Bali, where he was trying to flee to the island of Lombok.
A further three people are wanted over the grisly crime.
Badung police officer Komang Suartana says Noor Ellis, whose full name is Julaikah Noor Aini, has allegedly confessed to ordering the hit because of marital problems.
“She says she was hurt by the victim,” he said.
“There were many factors, one of them that her husband was frequently cheating on her.
“She then ordered four people to kill him.”

Briton found dead with throat slashed in Bali
The body of a British man was found Tuesday tied up in a ditch with his throat slashed on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, police said.
Local residents found the man, identified by police as 60-year-old Robert Kelvin Ellis, after they investigated a suspicious looking object next to a paddy field.
“The body was covered with plastic and bed quilts,” said detective Wisnu Wardana. “His body and hands were tied and there was a wound on the victim’s neck. The neck was almost completely cut.”
The body was starting to decompose when it was discovered in a village between the tourist areas of Ubud and Kuta, the detective said, leading police to believe the victim died more than 24 hours previously.
It was far from any houses, and people in the area had previously seen an object in the ditch, but did not realise it was a body.
Police said Ellis had been living at a villa in the tourist area of Sanur for some years and his Indonesian wife had earlier reported him missing.

Attorney for Tommy Schaefer, 21, says police claims that his client confessed to the murder of his girlfriend’s mother are false
A US attorney for a Chicago man accused of killing his girlfriend’s mother on the Indonesian resort island of Bali said Wednesday that his client is denying a police claim that he confessed.
The police chief in Bali’s capital, Denpasar, said last week that Tommy Schaefer, 21, confessed to the killing during a police interrogation.
Chicago attorney Thomas Durkin said he spoke with Schaefer by phone and that his client told him he did not confess.

American man admits killing his teenage girlfriend’s mother in Bali and stuffing her in a suitcase
A man has confessed to killing his girlfriend’s mother in a Bali hotel, and his girlfriend has admitted to helping him stuff the bludgeoned body into a suitcase, Indonesian police have claimed.
Heather Mack, 19, and Tommy Schaefer, 21, from Chicago, were arrested on August 13, a day after Sheila von Wiese-Mack’s body was found in a blood-splattered suitcase outside their luxury resort.
Police Chief Colonel Djoko Heru Utomo said today that Schaefer confessed to killing his girlfriend’s mother during an interrogation on Monday. He said he killed her after an argument.
The chief added that Heather Mack, who is two months pregnant, acknowledged her role in separate questioning later this week.

Three weeks before Sheila von Wiese-Mack’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Bali, her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend allegedly were caught using the woman’s credit card without permission to party at a Rush Street hotel, records show.
And despite what neighbors called “constant screaming matches,” von Wiese-Mack, 62, still found herself on the beautiful island of Bali on Saturday, vacationing with her 19-year-old daughter. Her daughter’s boyfriend arrived two days into the lavish trip.
Von Wiese-Mack was killed just three days into the vacation, her body stuffed in a suitcase and left in the trunk of a taxicab.
