“He pretends to fight for Malays. He cannot work with DAP but he is willing to work with Najib, he is willing to work with someone who steals money,” Mahathir said.

He also denied that he was ever a Perkasa patron.

Dr Mahathir ashamed to be Ibrahim Ali’s friend

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he was ashamed to call Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali his friend.

“I am ashamed. He is my friend but he doesn’t want to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia because we are friends with DAP,” Mahathir said during a press conference at Putrajaya.

While Ibrahim had claimed that DAP was “jahat (evil)”, he should compare DAP with MCA to truly see who was more evil, said Mahathir.

Mahathir said DAP has publicly declared that they respect the constitution, the position of the Malay rulers, Islam as the nation’s official religion, among others.

Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali today questioned why so much fuss was being made over Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah’s detention under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.

Ibrahim said he had it worse when he was detained under the now defunct Internal Security Act 1960 (ISA).

“Maria Chin and gang have only been detained (less than) 10 days and people are making a fuss at Dataran Merdeka.

“Even former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad turned up and lit a candle. What’s all this?” he said in reference to the nightly vigils for Maria.”

Ibrahim Ali: No ill feelings towards Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali says he holds no ill feelings towards Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and will always respect him as a statesman.

This was despite the former premier saying that he was embarrassed to be friends with Ibrahim.

“I still consider Dr Mahathir a friend and will continue to respect him even though his words have insulted me greatly,” he told reporters at the Perkasa headquarters on Wednesday.

The former Pasir Mas MP said he had feelings and self-respect too, and felt that it was necessary to clarify some things that Dr Mahathir had said about him.

He said that although he has tremendous respect for Dr Mahathir, it did not mean that he would blindly agree to the policies that the latter promoted.

Dr Mahathir had on Tuesday accused Ibrahim of not wanting to join Pribumi because the party worked with DAP.

“I cannot accept any cooperation with DAP. This has been my stand for eight years in Perkasa,” Ibrahim said.

He questioned if MCA and MIC had done the same.

On Perkasa’s plan to field independent candidates during the next general election, Mahathir said this meant Ibrahim was working for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The Perkasa president says it is unbecoming of a statesman to accuse individuals of all sorts of things just because they are not on his side.

PETALING JAYA: Perkasa’s president took to task Dr Mahathir Mohamad for his tendency to label anyone who disagrees with him as someone who receives bribes.

Ibrahim Ali said it was unbecoming of a statesman to accuse individuals of all sorts of things just because they are not on his side.

He was responding to the former premier’s statement that he was disappointed with Perkasa’s decision to contest in the 14th general election (GE14), adding that the move was made to benefit Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“I completely deny the allegation and besides, I’ve contested as an independent before.

“I do not support Najib, that is ‘fitnah’ (slander). The reason Perkasa is contesting is because we disagree with Najib and want to bring about our own agenda,” he told FMT.

Ibrahim Ali thinks Umno too ‘busy celebrating Christmas’ to attend Perkasa AGM

BY KAMLES KUMAR

Ibrahim stressed that the NGO had sent out invites to all political parties except for DAP, which Perkasa was against.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali expressed his disappointment with Umno for snubbing an invitation to attend his Malay rights group’s annual general meeting today.

The former federal lawmaker said his non-government organisation had sent an invitation to the country’s nationalist Malay party twice, including by hand, but had not received any reply.

“Maybe they did not come because they were busy celebrating Christmas, including Umno,” he said in his opening speech to Perkasa delegates here.

But he also said Umno might have skipped out after learning that PAS representatives would be there, though it was unclear why he voiced that suggestion.

“Maybe they heard PAS was attending, so they didn’t not want to attend. But we are happy other parties including PAS has sent their highest leaders to attend our assembly,” Ibrahim said.

PAS was represented at the Perkasa assembly by its secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan and elections director Datuk Mustafa Ali.

Other parties who sent representatives included PPP and Parti Ikatan Rakyat.

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali appears to have the last laugh as he gleefully noted those who accused him of being a “political frog” are now jumping parties themselves.

He said this in reference to the exodus of MPs from PAS to form splinter party Parti Amanah Negara.

“Last time, they mocked, teased and insulted me as a frog, in the Dewan Rakyat, they kept shouting ‘frog’ when I spoke.

“Now who is the father of all frogs? They have to eat their own words. Shame! Shame!” he said in a statement today.

He described the current trend as a “party-hopping political tsunami”.

Ibrahim Ali loses defamation suit against ‘theSun’, ordered to pay RM50,000

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — A Shah Alam High Court today dismissed the 2010 defamation suit filed by Datuk Ibrahim Ali against theSun newspaper and ordered the Perkasa president to pay RM50,000 in costs.

According to Malaysiakini, judicial commissioner M. Gunalan ruled that the article cited by Ibrahim in his suit had not been specifically about him but about the right-wing Malay group.

The judge also found the newspaper article to be justified and that the daily is protected by qualified privilege, the news portal reported.

“The court also orders the plaintiff (Ibrahim) to pay RM50,000 costs,” the judge was quoted saying in his ruling.

Ibrahim had filed a defamation suit against theSun over an article published on March 17, 2010, titled “Sultan keeps Perkasa guessing on invitation”.

The article spoke about whether the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah would attend the launch of Perkasa’s Selangor chapter on March 27 that year.

In his statement of claim, Ibrahim had said the article defamed him by portraying him as an extremist in his fight for Malay rights.

Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali today pleaded to the media to stop labelling him or his group in a negative way.

In a press conference, he urged the media to be fair to him, and not to repeatedly describe Perkasa and him as “katak” (frog), “ultra-Malay”, “racist” and “extremist”.

“Bersih is fierce, they have done many things (yet without being labelled). There’s not even a single demonstration held by Perkasa, but it was labelled as extremist,” said Ibrahim who heads the Malay right wing NGO.

Ibrahim Ali incurs wrath of netizens over remarks on Nik Aziz

PETALING JAYA: Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali angered netizens on Friday after he appeared to criticise late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

In a statement on Friday offering his condolences to Nik Aziz’s family, Ibrahim accused the former Kelantan Mentri Besar of failing to develop the state and falling short in his bid to implement hudud in the state.

“Many Kelantanese look up to him because he is considered an ulama and called Tok Guru (teacher) although he did not really develop Kelantan.

“The progress of Islam in Kelantan has gone nowhere and even hudud has failed to be implemented although he was the MB for more than 20 years,” the former Pasir Mas MP wrote on his Facebook page.

The original posting has since been removed, but not before social media users tore into Ibrahim for being insensitive.

Games opening ceremony: how the Scottie dogs stole the show

Thursday 24 July 2014

The Scottie dogs which took part in the athletes’ parade stole the show at last night’s Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

Around 40 Scotties took part in the celebrations in Glasgow, with many “recycled” to accompany more than one nation.

But it all became too much for some weary animals and they had to be carried around the stadium.

Jacqui McKinnon said that her pet Jock had auditioned for the star role in the opening ceremony, but when the big day came he unexpectedly staged a sit-down protest.

She said: “The dogs dealt with it really well; it’s just Jock decided he wasn’t walking. As soon as I put his Malaysia coat on he thought ‘I’m sitting down’. So Jock was the one who was carried around the Celtic stadium.”

She said her Scottie was giving the world a taste of the breed’s trademark stubbornness.

“They are very good-natured, they have great temperaments, but in Scotland we say they are thrawn, which means they are stubborn”, she said.

“And when they take a notion, there is just no budging them. You can try food, everything. They will take the food, but still not budge.”

Ibrahim Ali hopping mad over dogs at Glasgow

Malay-rights lobbyist Perkasa today ticked off Scotland, host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, for using Scottie dogs to parade the names of each participating country in the currently ongoing games.

Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali took issue with the opening ceremony at the Celtic Stadium last week, in which dogs wearing a pad displaying the country’s name preceded each contingent in the march past.

“We are an Islamic country. The organisers are insensitive and insolent,” he said in his usual style.

“I am expressing my regret and the disrespectful attitude of the hosts and organisers,” he said further.

Ibrahim’s dissatisfaction may have been prompted by an article published inThe Herald Scotland today, which featured how 40 Scottie dogs were employed in the parade.

IBRAHIM ALI WAS DISRESPECTFUL TO KARPAL SINGH IN PARLIAMENT!

During a 2008 parliamentary sitting, he mocked DAP chairman and Bukit Gelugor MP, Karpal Singh for not being able to stand while speaking. He received furious comments from opposition politicians as Karpal was disabled. He was forced to make an apology and he promised not to stand up in Parliament for a whole month.

Dewan turns into a ‘zoo’ over seating position, name-calling

Razali Ibrahim (BN – Muar) was trying to ask the first question of the sitting when Karpal Singh intervened on a point of order, prompting Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN – Kinabatangan) to stand up and interject.

When Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia allowed the latter to intervene, Karpal Singh said he hoped that the “bigfoot from Kinabatangan won’t disturb me”.

“You-lah, big monkey,” Bung Mokhtar retorted loudly.

Pandikar Amin then ticked off both MPs, telling them to stop this line of argument.

The DAP leader later pointed out that although Ibrahim had contested and won in the last general election on a PAS ticket, he was in the Dewan as an “independent candidate”.

“Can we know his exact position in the Dewan?” he asked the Chair.

The Speaker then told Karpal Singh off, saying that such trivial points should not be raised, to which the DAP leader shouted: “Ini bukan remeh (this is not trivial)!”

Pandikar Amin then responded: “Where Yang Berhormat sits depends on the discretion of the House. This is within my jurisdiction. If it has been decided that the YB should sit there, then there he should sit,” he said to loud cheers from the backbenchers.

Ibrahim irked the Opposition MPs when he teased wheelchair-bound Karpal Singh for “not respecting the House” by not standing up when speaking.

This riled Fong Po Kuan (DAP – Batu Gajah), who demanded that Ibrahim retract his statement but he merely told her to “shut up”.

“Retract it. You cannot insult a disabled person. I ask Pasir Mas to retract his words,” said Fong.

To this, Ibrahim said: “I usik-usik (tease) a little bit, sudah melenting (you’re are throwing a tantrum).”

“Apa usik-usik?” she asked.

“Shut up!” he shouted.

Pandikar, who had the unenviable task of keeping the House in control, told MPs that he should not be reminding them again and again to refrain from using unparliamentary words.

Ibrahim, however, argued that there was nothing unparliamentary about his choice of words.

“I said ‘shut up’. In Bahasa, it is ‘diam‘. All this is because everybody wants to be on TV during the half hour,” he said, referring to the 30-minute live telecast of the parliamentary sitting.

IBRAHIM ALI: IF A MAN HAS AN AFFAIR, IT’S BECAUSE OF THE WIFE!

Men have affairs because wives neglect their responsibilities, MP tells parliament

Date
April 8, 2011

Malaysian men have extramarital sex because of “wives who neglect their responsibilities” to their husbands, a Malaysian MP has told his country’s Parliament, outraging women’s groups.

“Husbands driving home after work see things that are sexually arousing and go to their wives to ease their urges,” said independent lawmaker Ibrahim Ali, according to online portal Malaysiakini.

“But when they come home to their wives, they will say, ‘wait, I’m cooking,’ or ‘wait, I’m getting ready to visit relatives,'” Mr Ibrahim said.

“In Islam, wives are supposed to stop everything to fulfil their husband’s demands.”

Mr Ibrahim heads Perkasa, a right-wing Malay nationalist group, seeking to protect ethnic Malay dominance in politics.

His strident comments came as he asked about plans by the government’s religious development department to educate wives on their responsibilities.

Wives “failing in their duties” pushed men to go to “private places to satisfy their urges”, he said.
