Raja Bomoh: Karpal died at a haunted spot

April 21, 2014

He says evil spirits inhabit the jungles through which Malaysia’s highways are built.

PETALING JAYA: Ibrahim Mat Zin, the self-styled World Bomoh King, has offered to cleanse Malaysia’s major interstate highways of the evil spirits that he says are responsible for accidents like the one which killed veteran politician and senior lawyer Karpal Singh last week.

In a video interview posted on Suara TV, he says the jungles through which the highways cut are the natural haunts of evil spirits.

“There is a need for the North South Expressway and the East Coast Expressway to be neutralised,” he says.

“I’m willing to fly in a helicopter from Johor Bahru to Perlis and along the East Coast Expressway to neutralise them.

“I ask everyone to cooperate with me. I’m not charging any fee. I’m doing this because I care about the safety of highway users. I want them to be safe on the highways so they can celebrate Hari Raya, Chinese New Year and Deepavali peacefully.”

The video also shows Ibrahim performing a ritual at the spot on the North-South Expressway where Karpal met his death.

Puaka Gua Tempurung punca kemalangan maut Karpal, kata Raja Bomoh

Nawawi: Netizens made me see my mistake

Umno’s Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad says the outrage that broke out in cyberspace over his remarks about the death of Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh had made him rethink his actions and realise he had done wrong.

“After two days looking at the unhappy responses on Facebook and social media, it made me rethink the statement. I re-read it several times, only then I realised (why) so many people were upset, it was very inappropriate,” he told a press conference tonight.

“I was in Parliament with him for many years and everytime he raised a question, it was for the benefit of the people.

“Whatever questions he asked, I would give him very satisfactory answers. I would provide him with more information if he needed further clarification.

“His demise is a great loss to the country and I am very sad today because we have lost a very good friend,” he said.

Dr Ling Liong Sik on Karpal Singh

Former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik has described the late Karpal Singh as a playful student who always failed in the exam.

Dr Ling, who is Karpal’s hostel-mate in the early 1960s, said both of them studied at the then University of Malaya in Singapore.

“We were staying at the same hostel in Dunearn Road in Singapore, and I remember him as the cheeky student who always failed his exam.

“When I was the student union president, Karpal was still in his first semester as the committee member,” he told reporters before paying his last respect to Karpal at his wake on Friday here.

He said at one time, Karpal finally made it a point to pass all his examinations in order to graduate and become a good lawyer.

When asked to describe his friendship with Karpal, Dr Ling said both of them were in the “silently close relationship” as they were active in different political parties.

“Have you ever heard Karpal scolding Liong Sik or have you heard I scold Karpal? No, we never scold each other despite our political differences. I only scolded DAP and he only scolded MCA.

“I will miss Karpal and the country will miss him too,” said the former Transport Minister while holding back tears.

Langkawi MP unrepentant, continues insults on late Karpal, says Facebook user

BY DIYANA IBRAHIM
April 19, 2014

A Barisan Nasional MP whose Facebook posting poking fun at the death of Karpal Singh shocked Malaysians has again insulted the late DAP leader, this time comparing him to a hostile figure in Islamic history who fought against Prophet Muhammad.

Facebook user Shamsul Kamal Ariffin Mohd Nasir, 42, told The Malaysian Insider that Langkawi MP, Datuk Nawawi Ahmad during a private Facebook exchange, had compared Karpal to Abu Jahal, considered in Islamic history as the most violent figure who fought early Muslims in Mecca.

“I commented on his Facebook page today to reprimand his uncivilised act which has shamed Muslims. An argument ensued between us after he sent a private message on my social page,” said the corporate trainer at a private firm.

Shamsul said he was shocked to discover Nawawi defending his comparison of Karpal to Abu Jahal after the latter had apologised for his earlier posting which was roundly criticised.

Malaysiakini readers slam Perkasa’s Zulkifli Nordin:

Zulkifli, you’re no friend of Karpal

YOURSAYZul, do not insult the memory of Karpal by referring him as ‘my friend’.”

After coming under fire for his initial tweets that Allah took Karpal Singh’s life in order to help advance the implementation of hudud in Malaysia, Zulkifli Noordin is now singing a different tune about his “friend’.

In his latest tweets, he wrote: “To Karpal, your roar for the poor and your voice against injustice, either in Parliament or in court will be missed by many. Goodbye my friend!”

Ferdtan: Islam needs no enemy if they have a Muslim like Zulkifli Noordin who is so callous to make such wicked remark at this juncture even before Karpal Singh is laid to rest.

It is so un-Islamic. Furthermore, he is an expert in Islamic laws, a syariah lawyer.

We would like the ulamas, from both sides of the political fence, to clarify whether what Zul had said is in according to the teaching of the religion (that Allah would take a life, any life – not necessary Karpal’s – as that person had supposedly earned His wrath).

Before Zul prays each day, didn’t he recite before each ‘sura’ (chapter) of the Quran “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”. As a non-Muslim, I know that God is merciful.

Can Zulkifli as a Muslim speaks in the name of Allah to justify an accident that took not a life but two, including Karpal’s personal aide?

Has Zul committed blasphemy? If Zul has his twisted wish, or power to foresee our Creator’s wrath, we would have seen United States disappear from the face of the earth as they are the greatest opponent of the Muslim states around the world.

Awakened: Zul, you are a real hypocrite. Your first tweet showed your true nature – a heartless person without compassion and sense of righteousness.

Your second tweet is insincere. Your U-turn came only after numerous severed criticism of your first tweet. You appeared to be so “Islamic” by supporting hudud and is willing to condemn a dead person who has contributed so much to Malaysia, both legally and politically.

You have done a great disservice to Islam with your hypocrisy. I wonder why PM Najib Razak has chosen you and the Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad as candidates in the last election.

Anonymous_1397678952: Zul’s behaviour is to be expected. He has no class and no respect for the dead. He is dishonourable. Muslims should reject his statement and him.

Too Lan: Zul, do not insult the memory of Karpal by referring him as “my friend”. Karpal would not befriend a scum like you. You are giving your religion a bad name.

Sadhu3: Zul suggested that Allah will kill people who do not agreed with his teaching. Is this Islamic? Does the other Islam agree to this? What does the MP of Langkawi have to said about this?

NoBN4me: Zul, even when you tried to redeem yourself, you sounded sarcastic. Your goatie and scullcap does not impress anyone that you are a good Muslim.

(Malay Mail) – In a rebuke aimed at Muslims mourning the death of veteran opposition politician Karpal Singh, a leader of Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) stressed today that infidels go to hell when they die.

Isma central committee member Mohd Hazizi Ab Rahman, called on Muslims to be more discerning when they pay their respects.

“In the Quran, Allah stated many times that the place for those who die an infidel is hell,” Hazizi was quoted as saying on Isma’s website.

“Therefore, for those who refute this, it means they have rejected Allah’s revelation,” he added.

Hazizi’s remarks were in response to several Muslims who claimed on social media that Karpal will be rewarded in the afterlife for his good deeds.

Hazizi’s comments echoed a statement by the National Fatwa Council in December last year, advising Muslims against using the phrase “rest in peace” in reference to deceased non-Muslims.

Told to ‘shut up’ on Twitter, Zul Noordin lashes back at Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 — A feud is breaking out between former Perkasa vice president Datuk Zulkifli Noordin and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin on Twitter.

Told unequivocally by the minister to “shut up” after suggesting the late Karpal Singh’s death removed an obstacle to hudud Islamic law yesterday, the former Kulim MP this morning aimed a series of dismissive barbs belittling Khairy.

“I am actually not bothered to entertain Pak Lah’s son-in-law because I sympathise with Datuk Seri Najib. So I will answer only once so they can all sleep peacefully, (Teman sbnrny sbnrny malas nk layan mnantu Pak Lah ni krn mngasihani DS Najib!Jd teman akn jwb hny skli je yop spya mike smua boleh tdoq lena)” he posted on Twitter.

“@Dear mnantu Pak Lah:pls don’t b a knee-jerk politician!We don’t need another Anwar in this country!Ok yop?”

Khairy is married to the daughter of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Abdullah is commonly known as Pak Lah and was succeeded by Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Today, Zulkifli sought to explain his offending tweet from before by claiming that saying Allah “killed off” Karpal was consistent with Islam.

He said Islam teaches that all death comes from Allah, and that Allah decides when a person dies.

Khairy responded later to Zulkifli’s messages and challenged him to address his complaints directly to the Umno Youth chief, rather than using the indirect reference to Pak Lah.

“@zulkiflinoordin Next time you have something to say, mention me. @khairykj. That’s my handle. Be a man. And be a decent human being,” he wrote.

Attacks on Karpal unacceptable, say ministers

Two ministers have spoken out against the attacks on Karpal Singh and dissemination of gory pictures of the accident involving the late DAP chairman and Bukit Gelugor MP.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said he was disappointed with a Barisan Nasional MP and a former Perkasa vice-president who both made insensitive statements about Karpal’s death.

“I cannot accept statements such as these. It is very sad to see someone utter that sort of thing,” Kurup told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

“You want to have political mileage, do not exploit the sad situation, and do not use religion.

“If you going to say something to make things even worse, better not say anything,” he reportedly said.

Umno MP retracts FB remark on Karpal

BN’s Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad today deleted a Facebook posting he made which made light of the death of Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh, claiming that it was “not serious”.

“I feel that Facebook is not official and not serious, so I did not expect what I wrote to become viral.

“If I wanted to make an official statement, I would surely be more careful,” he told Malaysiakini.

He had been asked why he had made such remarks only to delete them later.

Nawawi (left), who is also Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) chairperson, had this morning posted a picture collage which includes pictures purportedly of Karpal’s bleeding body.

The picture collage also included a 1990 Utusan Malaysia news clipping where Karpal said that an Islamic state would only exist in Malaysia “over (his) dead body”.

“Would anyone like to take on Karpal Singh’s challenge? Please give your names. Hehe,” he wrote in the posting which was deleted three hours later.

In a separate posting at about 11.30am he posted: “You can die when riding a car, face accidents on motorcycles, go missing on a plane, so it is better to ride a train. Campaign with KTMB.”

This posting, which has since been deleted, is believed to have been referring to the fatal road accident this morning and and Malaysia Airline’s Flight MH370 which is still missing after disappearing off radar screens 41 days ago.

In another tweet, the former Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP stated: “To my friend Gobind Singh Deo and family, do accept my deepest condolence. I am sure Karpal’s name will be tinted in gold in the history of Malaysia!”

Zulkifli also urged the opposition to respect the DAP leader’s passing and not to politicise the issue.

This morning, the former Perkasa vice-president, who is no stranger to putting his foot in his mouth, tweeted: “At a time when the PAS Kelantan government wants to implement hudud with the help of Umno, Allah made Karpal die because he was its foremost opponent!”

“May the struggle to implement hudud in Kelantan succeed. Thank God for the unity between PAS and Umno, and with Karpal no longer around, I believe the path is becoming clearer!”

KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — As Malaysians mourn the loss of veteran lawmaker Karpal Singh, Perkasa vice-president Datuk Zulkifli Noordin instead said the DAP leader’s passing removes a major obstacle towards implementing hudud or Islamic penal law in the country.

Karpal’s resistance to the implementation of hudud law has been well-documented and has often placed him at loggerheads with political allies from Islamist party PAS.“The Kelantan PAS government wants to enforce hudud law with the help of Umno. Allah has killed off Karpal who was the major opponent of its implementation! (Dlm keadaan kemelut Krjn PAS Klntn mau mlaksanakn hudud dgn bantuan UMNO, Allah tlh mmatikn Karpal yg mnjadi pnentang utama prlaksanaannya!)” he wrote using his Twitter handle @zulkiflinoordin.

Karpal had been one of the staunchest opponents to repeated attempts to introduce Islamic law in Malaysia.

One of his most iconic quotes is: “An Islamic state over my dead body”.
