PKR today provided proof that former Indonesian vice-president Jusuf Kalla had sent a letter to the Berita Harian Sdn Bhd group editor on its false report titled “Anwar dapat dana asing lancar Blackout 505” (Anwar obtains foreign funds to launch Blackout 505).
In the three-paragraph letter dated July 18, the former Indonesia vice-president says what was written in the Berita Harian report of June 28 was not the reality.
“In reference to the article that appeared in Berita Harian June 28 on the interview with Al Azharri Siddiq, there is no interview done with the journalist. Azharri came with a letter that eight Malaysian journalists wanted to see me.
“However, I rejected the offer. The meeting on June 1 was just a short meeting arranged by an Indonesian parliament member. What is written in Berita Harian does not portray the reality. Hence, Azharri had apologised to me on this several times,” the letter to the daily states.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary Shukri Saad said this showed that Jusuf (right) was never interviewed on the issue.

Stashed cash: Allegation started by Umno bloggers, says Anwar
BY ELIZABETH ZACHARIAH
July 03, 2013
A Barisan Nasional MP, who alleged in Parliament that Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stashed away RM332 million in 20 offshore bank accounts, could face censure for having misled the House.
The reason – Liang Teck Meng appeared to have relied on a claim made in an Umno blog rather than in a Wikileaks cable as he told Parliament yesterday. Liang’s allegation was given widespread coverage in the mainstream media today, with the Umno-owned press leading the charge against Anwar.

In response, Tian Chua (PKR-Batu), asked Liang to provide proof to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to enable investigations to be carried out.
“We’ve been pursuing our struggles for 15 years and we didn’t even get a single sen. If our leader is so rich, we also want to know about it,” Tian Chua said.
PKR deputy whip Sim Tze Sin told a press conference in the Parliament lobby today that the information is not available on WikiLeaks and that it was merely an allegation in a pro-Umno blog.

PARLIAMENT A claim made by a backbencher in the Dewan Rakyat today that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim stashed away RM332 million in 20 banks in four countries, including Israel, drew an angry response from opposition members.
Quoting anti-secrecy organisation WikiLeaks, Liang Teck Meng (BN-Simpang Renggam) said the Permatang Pauh MP was said to have a treasure-trove of US$66 million (RM209 million) and S$$49 million (RM123 million) in 20 banks in the United States, China and Singapore, besides Israel.
“This information went viral on the Internet. And when I read this, I wonder where this money comes from,” Liang (left) said when debating the motion of thanks on the Royal Address.
Liang said all the accounts had detailed particulars of the holder’s name, position and passport number as well as the dates the accounts were opened and the maturity dates.
Therefore, he said, the government should investigate the matter as one of the accounts was opened in Israel, with which Malaysia has no diplomatic relations.
…..
Jeff Ooi Chuan Aun (DAP-Jelutong) said if Liang failed to provide the necessary proof, he should be taken to task by the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee.
