Organiser, Adam Shariman, 19, said, “If Utusan (Malaysia), Berita Harian we would know what they will write but the other media, we do not know as they may spin. Hence to take pictures is all right but to record video you would have to obtain a permit. That is what the security supervisor told us.”

The management of the iconic Suria Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) has stopped the media from recording the V-neck gathering held at its premises.

NONEThis happened when two security personnel approached several members of the media, who were seen recording the gathering, to prevent the latter from doing so.

The event has attracted local and foreign media coverage, however, the security staff said the “big cameras” used by the media required permit from the management before recording is allowed.

The V-neck Day was held yesterday following the issuance of a controversial guideline to identify gay and lesbians in schools. The gathering started off at 5pm and was attended by 10 people.

Puad: Unreasonable to hold ‘V-neck Day’
  • Zulaikha Zulkifli
  • 3:30PM Sep 27, 2012

It is “unreasonable” to organise the Oct 1 ‘National Wear a V-neck Day’ in reaction to an allegedly state-endorsed LGBT-spotting guideline, said Deputy Education Minister Puad Zarkashi.

Puad said those planning the V-neck Day are taking the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issue too lightly.

“There’s no gay guideline, is there? I had asked the parent NGO and they said they didn’t issue the guideline.

“So when they do this (organise a V-neck Day), it shows that they are not taking this issue seriously. What they are doing is unreasonable,” he told Malaysiakini today.

National Wear V-neck Day

Public Event · By Adam Mosby Sharizman

Wear a V-neck t shirt on the day.

I love wearing V necks. Now they’re being discriminated. So are my friends. Lets wear v-necks to show our love for v-necks and to support our friends.

Share and spread the message. We don’t tolerate bullies and stereotyping. Definitely do not tolerate the fact that our friends are being treated like criminals.

Lets show people that we could actually accept each other’s differences and not prosecute.http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2012/09/13/govt-endorses-guide-on-how-to-spot-gays/Some nice reads:

Removed – sexist ‘guideline’ for female bosses
2:03PM Sep 19, 2012

A guideline for female employers on the Health Ministry’s portal MedikTV has been removed following allegations that the message is inherently sexist.

NONEThe guideline first appeared on MedikTV’s Facebook page in March but went unnoticed until it was uploaded again on Sept 12 and reproduced by the information department yesterday.

At the time of writing, the department had removed the posting on the Facebook page but a Twitter post linked to the Facebook post remained.

The guideline appears to be part of MedikTV‘s infographics series meant for sharing on Facebook.

Topics covered include general tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, dieting and health trivia, to off-beat topics including genital care and middle-age female sex drive.

Guidelines to identify gay and lesbian symptoms published
1:08PM Sep 13, 2012

The Education Ministry had endorsed “guidelines” to help parents to identify gay and lesbian “symptoms” in their children so they can take early corrective measurements.

The guidelines list four symptoms each of gays and lesbians:

Symptoms of gays:

  • Have a muscular body and like to show their body by wearing V-neck and sleeveless clothes;
  • Prefer tight and light-coloured clothes;
  • Attracted to men; and
  • Like to bring big handbags, similar to those used by women, when hanging out.

Symptoms of lesbians:

  • Attracted to women;
  • Besides their female companions, they will distance themselves from other women;
  • Like to hang out, have meals and sleep in the company of women; and
  • Have no affection for men.

“Once the children have these symptoms, immediate attention should be given,” the guidelines warn.
