At approximately 18:30 on 14 October 2023, The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey (the Mall) and St. Giles Hotel Southkey (the Hotel) were evacuated in response to a report of a security threat through an anonymous phone call.
We were instructed by the authorities to evacuate the affected areas as a proactive safety measure. The mall management assisted in the smooth evacuation of the Mall and Hotel.
Polis Diraja Malaysia and Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (BOMBA) promptly arrived on the scene and investigated the threat by completing a thorough search of the affected area, and found no evidence of threats. Following a comprehensive assessment, the Johor District Police Chief (OCPD) has declared the premises safe for the return of tenants, employees, guests and shoppers at 12.15am, 15 October 2023.
We extend our gratitude for the unwavering cooperation and patience during this period. We would also like to thank all local authorities, including the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department and Polis Diraja Malaysia for their swift action and cooperation.
The Mall will resume operations as usual on Sunday, 15 October 2023.
